The atmosphere is another favorite of mine. It has that laid-back Southern charm and hospitality that feels like home, especially for someone born and raised in North Carolina. There's country music playing, plenty of character throughout the restaurant, and they even have a table made from a truck. It doesn't get much more Southern than that! My go-to order is a burger with pimento cheese and fries, and I highly recommend doctoring up the fries with their Cajun seasoning, homemade ranch, and a little vinegar. SO good! Great food, great prices, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Slim's is an easy favorite for our family!

The pancake was perfectly executed as well and one pancake is a large portion so if you order more than one you better be extremely hungry - it light and fluffy and stands tall on the plate, add lots of syrup and real butter and it's something worth bragging about. The check-in is in the same building as Legends On The Lake. We decided to stay for dinner so it only took 15 minute wait to get a patio table overlooking Lake Lure. One of the things I appreciate most about this restaurant is that faith is clearly at the heart of the business. As a Christian, that makes the atmosphere feel especially warm, familiar, and welcoming to me. The service is also wonderful! Everyone is so sweet and attentive. They're always keeping an eye on your table, and it seems like the second your drink gets halfway empty, someone is already on their way with a refill. Normally I need tartar sauce with seafood, but this was just as good if not better without it. Oh and for a senior portion there was still a lot of food. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
