In town after a long week of work and we decided to cut loose and get a bite to eat outside the homestead. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Autumn. She was pulling triple duty (server, cashier and hostess). The restaurant has plenty of seating and it feels homey and quaint. It had a salad bar which the wife loved. We ordered the hamburger steak and a chick en breast sandwich. Both were fresh, tasty and the portions were plentiful. We also got fries and onion rings. The food was great. This is a Local place. They have a check in offer you get free mozzarella sticks so it's a nice added touch to eat here. They are pretty good too! I have noticed there is also a special on line for Groupon as well. The menu here is pretty big and a wide variety of items to pick from. From Subs to Italian food, vegetarian, and more! There are a few dishes I have had that are speghetti based, I really like the Speghetti A la Venus and seem to get every time I come. My Mom had a sub and enjoyed it here. Tried the steak quesadilla and it had a really nice flavor. It is a Family ran local business and a lot of locals frequent here and if asked they recommend coming here. The menu clips are examples of what they have , there is so much more. They are open a bit later than alot of places close by. The food was good overall. The fries were cold and scribbled up. They were not seasoned as ordered. Requested two fresh orders of fries which was fresh & hot. Service is always excellent & focused. Our server was busy and aiming to please all her customers. Ambiance was great with music. Will definitely be back. Hopefully, they can come up with two separate stations in the evenings for the to go orders to pay & pick up and the dining in waiting to be seated paying customers. Food inconsistency. My family and I have eaten here about 5 times and with each visitor, there's ALWAYS inconsistency with the food we order. It hardly ever tastes the same way each time. This is very discouraging. During our last visit, we finally vowed to not return. Also, their version of mashed potatoes is actually just potato soup. When we asked the server about it, she said it was normal to be made that way. She didn't iffer and apology for the confusion. During a subsequent visit to the restaurant, we had another side - skillet potatoe - that were no where near the flavor of the last visit. The first time, they were flavored good and very tasty. But the most recent visit, they tasted as if they had cooled down and were reheated and without flavor at all. Unless the consistency and food flavoring is fixed, I can't recommend this restaurant for a regular eatery. read more

I've tried to order from Gregory's before and it was incredibly sub par each time. Today was the third strike and I won't be trying again. I ordered mild wings and got lemon pepper wings that despite being drenched in lemon pepper oils was flavorless and so incredibly dry they actually hurt my teeth. The place is pretty cute on the inside. The waitress was sweet, kept my glass filled with sweet tea at all times. She also gave us some good suggestions. The side salad was filling, the blue cheese dressing was house made and so freaking delicious. I had the chicken Parmesan! They portion was huge, it gave me three meals. The burger was from frozen, and not 100% beef! The butter was in a packet that was a butter/oil blend. This is not "real" food people! Felt more like a cafeteria. We have lived in the area for several years and finally had a chance to stop at Gregory's Original for lunch. We received our complimentary cheese sticks for checking-in on Yelp and ordered off of their Senior/Lunch Menu. I had beef tips and grilled broccoli- my husband had Chicken Parmigiana. Both were delicious and a bargain for only $7.95. We were both surprised at how full we were when we left. Our waitress was the best, too! We definitely recommend this hidden treasure! This is one of my favorite places to eat at. I've eaten steak, the club sandwich, salads and pasta and it's all amazing. I love having this place in our small town. They never disappoint us. We went there for lunch recently while in the area. The place was very busy and many of the dishes looked very good. Obviously a very popular place for locals. Unfortunately, we must have picked their "not best" items. baked pasta and chicken parmesan. The meat sauce for the baked pasta was watery. The marinara sauce for the chicken parm was basically a tablespoon or so of crushed tomatos and red water. I actually poured the "marinara" out of the plate into an extra plate so that I could see how much sauce was left. Barely anything stuck to the pasta. I brought this to the attention of the waitress and it became obvious that she either had never been trained on how to handle customer concerns or she just did not care. Her reply was, "Well that is how they make it". Really, water and tomatoes for a marinara? The cashier asked how things were, as they generally do, I brought it to her attention and she clammed up, no reply at all and she did not speak again. Like I said, there were some dishes that looked really good and I wish I would have picked something else. I would not recommend Italian food from Gregory's based on the two dishes we had. We moved into Rutherfordton full time a year ago and Gregory's is a regular for us. Good variety of food. Good food too. Friendly staff. Clean. Plenty of seating for a large group. We go with our neighbors regularly. Everything from Tuna, to steaks, to great hot sandwiches. Reasonable prices. Full range of bar beverages. This place has a low number of reviews (as of this posting) so I am unsure if it is new or people are just sleeping on it. I think it was great! I stopped in for the salad bar and it was exactly what I was looking for. All of the toppings were freshly prepared and the dressings were homemade. The lettuce was shredded like taco lettuce which I am a big fan of. I ordered the grilled chicken fingers and grilled veggies. The chicken was juicy and had a very nice grill flavor to it. It did not need any sauce or additional seasoning. The veggies were a great consistency, not too soft or too crisp. I would have liked a bit more of the grill flavor on them - they seemed like they were just steamed and then tossed on the grill for a short amt of time. The very best thing about this place is the service. There was a gentleman running the place, not sure if he is the owner, but he was expediting everything and triple checking that everyone was satisfied. He was very nice and you could tell he cares about your experience here. The server was great as well. Despite the low number of ratings, don't sleep on this place. We go to Gregory's frequently. Local family run restaurant. Most of the items on the menu are very good. The steak grinders are some of the best I've had. The burgers, seasoned fries, and pasta salad are also excellent. The chicken Marsala is hit and miss... Probably depending on who the cook is. The baked Italian dishes are fairly good. If you get the baked ziti ask for double the sauce as it's usually a bit dry. The sirloin steaks are good. I would avoid the grilled veggies as they are obviously of the frozen variety! The grilled salmon salad is good. Perhaps the best value on the menu is the wine... although it is boxed wine it is served in a huge glass... the equivalent of 2 glasses and inexpensive. Wish they would put a good pizza on the menu!!! We need good pizza in Rutherfordton (sorry Dominos)! read more
