    a pizza in a box

Wow! We were in Rutherfordton for a few days and stopped by here for a pizza. We got their weekly special which was pesto based with bacon, zucchini, tomatoes and ricotta cheese. We added some red sauce to the base. It was fantastic!!

Getting kind of disappointed . Yes, the pizza is still fabulous. But, as far as the brews go, it's one in house. An IPA. Not everyone likes IPA. The good Porter is sold out and the bartender didn't know if they were going to brew another batch or not. Their other guest brews are along the same lines. Another IPA , a Mexican tequila lime that was way too sour. I like drinking a beer from the brewery I'm visiting. I don't have a High-Wire when I go to Sierra Nevada, I don't get a Sierra Neveda when Im at Catawba Brewery. No ambience, no background music , just echoing of ten different conversations. So, we ate the pizza, had one beer and left.

You've found yourself a new frequenter! I recently moved to this town and stumbled upon the Yellow Sun Brewing Company. They have new specials every couple of weeks. Now, I love trying different foods and they have a great offering. This weeks special was the peach jam, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, bacon, and basil. It. Was. Amazing! I never would have thought to use peach jam on pizza. Apparently unique pizzas like this are the regular. It'll certainly keep me coming back for more. Next time I'll be trying the Goat&Grape pizza. Sounds odd, sure does, but definitely suggest trying it as it's the first pizza on the menu. The lady running the counter was super friendly and had some great suggestions like adding their "hot honey" to the pizza- tastes just like it sounds. She also made an effort to remember my name as she knew I'd end up coming back after trying it once.

This is the best pizza by far in Rutherford County! We are always pleased when we dine inside with friendly wait staff and patrons. Plenty of variety in pizza to choose from. It's a hoppin' place to eat!

Bacon-Tomato-Mushroom Pizza and a Tart Cherry Cider on a Saturday Afternoon

As food bloggers well-versed on restaurants and recipes across the Carolinas, my wife and I were invited to check out Yellow Sun in my family's native Rutherford County. We were pleased with what we found. There are many tasty pizza menu options, but we chose to make our own--my wife's favorite special of bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. The cheese was outstanding. The crust was excellent--light and airy, flaky and slightly crisp from the oven. The tomato sauce was fresh, homemade tasting, and my wife loved that. You can buy garlic butter dip cups for 50 cents each. My wife also loves that. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of tart cherry cider, which were good. There are about six drinks on tap, including seasonal selections. Service was fast and friendly. College football was on the TV, correct protocol for a September Saturday at a restaurant in the South. We would definitely go back. Our only regret was that there weren't more customers enjoying the place. Rutherfordton itself was mostly empty, whereas Forest City was bustling when we drove through afterward. Rutherfordton needs to better support its downtown on the weekend, I'd say. That's in no way a reflection on Yellow Sun. We loved our visit and recommend it! And as a side note: The negative comments by others about the business being closed unexpectedly are not true. Notifications were posted on Facebook well in advance that the brewing company would be closed for family time over a holiday weekend. I saw that posting myself. Unlike many businesses, it appears Yellow Sun attempts to be vigilant about keeping its hours. That's important for a business, and it's standard procedure now in the food world that you check a restaurant's social media to be sure it's going to be open--and still have a backup plan for where to eat, just in case of an emergency!

It is not a brewery! Pizza was okay but not worth going back again. They should take the word brewery off their sign.

The kind of place where you stop in for "just one" and suddenly realize the sun has set and you've somehow made three new friends... aka my favorite kind of brewery! I wish we could've stayed for the live music because the stage setup looked awesome, complete with disco balls and plenty of Instagram-worthy areas for pictures and boomerangs (yes, I'm a millennial and I'm sticking with it)! The beers were excellent, and it became clear pretty quickly that this brewery is woven into the fabric of the town. Their brews popped up at several restaurants we visited, and after stopping in, I totally understand why they're so well-loved in the area. The space is huge, with high ceilings and plenty of room to spread out. There's even an outdoor area built out along the sidewalk--probably a COVID addition that was too good to take away. The vibe was laid-back and welcoming. Service at the bar could've been a bit more attentive, but everyone was friendly and chill, so it never bothered us. And my favorite moment? Watching a grandpa-aged regular stroll in with his own paper plate "poor man's charcuterie board." I absolutely loved it. That's the kind of place this is, a spot where regulars feel at home and newcomers instantly want to become regulars! No food that I could tell, but honestly, with great beer, good vibes, live music, disco balls, and Jell-O shots, who needs much else?! If you're brewery hopping around town, make sure this one is on your list. It was our favorite stop, and I'd happily spend an entire afternoon getting lost here. Also, not sure if the Jell-O shots are a staple or not so don't be sad if they aren't there, I didn't asked, just vibed lol

I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as it is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." Elberton this is not. This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually.
