Oh Yellow Sun... why, why, WHY do you do me like this? You guys never disappoint. Every time I roll up and order your specialty pizzas -- the ones I never thought I'd love -- I end up questioning everything I thought I knew about food. I mean... blueberry or peach bacon pizza? I KNOW what you're thinking: "Blueberry or peach on a pizza? Wtfudge." Trust me, I was a major skeptic too. But don't knock it till you try it because these pies are to die for. So good we ordered extra to take back home to SoFlo -- and even after the road trip, it was still amazing. That's witchcraft. This place is so hot it's literally only open a couple days a week because it needs time to cool off. That's how awesome the pizza is. Get there early or order early because they WILL run out in a heartbeat, and then you'll be mad at yourself... or worse, in the doghouse with the family. Ouch. I didn't even mention the beers on tap or the staff -- but let's be real, if the pizza is hitting at this level, everything else is right there with it. Yellow Sun, keep doing what you're doing. Don't change a thing. You're operating at full strength. See you soon. read more

Yellow Sun Brewing - Blueberry hum hum pizza - Brewpubs Near Me - Rutherfordton, North Carolina

We got a few pizzas here one night. The grapes, goat cheese and walnut pizza just sounded weird so we had to try it and dare I say, I think it's my new favorite. I just wished they were open on the weekends! read more

It is not a brewery! Pizza was okay but not worth going back again. They should take the word brewery off their sign.

Never disappointed at this place. The food, service & ambience is always first class even in this small venue.

Wow! We were in Rutherfordton for a few days and stopped by here for a pizza. We got their weekly special which was pesto based with bacon, zucchini, tomatoes and ricotta cheese. We added some red sauce to the base. It was fantastic!! read more

Yellow Sun Brewing - a pizza in a box - Brewpubs Near Me - Rutherfordton, North Carolina

Amazing pizza! The best I've had! I usually don't eat the crust but I eat theirs because it's so good.

Best pizza within miles and you can't go wrong regardless what you order. There's a reason they run out of dough before they close

Getting kind of disappointed . Yes, the pizza is still fabulous. But, as far as the brews go, it's one in house. An IPA. Not everyone likes IPA. The good Porter is sold out and the bartender didn't know if they were going to brew another batch or not. Their other guest brews are along the same lines. Another IPA , a Mexican tequila lime that was way too sour. I like drinking a beer from the brewery I'm visiting. I don't have a High-Wire when I go to Sierra Nevada, I don't get a Sierra Neveda when Im at Catawba Brewery. No ambience, no background music , just echoing of ten different conversations. So, we ate the pizza, had one beer and left. read more

You've found yourself a new frequenter! I recently moved to this town and stumbled upon the Yellow Sun Brewing Company. They have new specials every couple of weeks. Now, I love trying different foods and they have a great offering. This weeks special was the peach jam, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, bacon, and basil. It. Was. Amazing! I never would have thought to use peach jam on pizza. Apparently unique pizzas like this are the regular. It'll certainly keep me coming back for more. Next time I'll be trying the Goat&Grape pizza. Sounds odd, sure does, but definitely suggest trying it as it's the first pizza on the menu. The lady running the counter was super friendly and had some great suggestions like adding their "hot honey" to the pizza- tastes just like it sounds. She also made an effort to remember my name as she knew I'd end up coming back after trying it once. read more

Really good pizzas and some local beer on tap, good for a date night or night out with friends

Excellent pizza. Fresh ingredients. Homemade pizza crust. Nice people. Good atmosphere.

As food bloggers well-versed on restaurants and recipes across the Carolinas, my wife and I were invited to check out Yellow Sun in my family's native Rutherford County. We were pleased with what we found. There are many tasty pizza menu options, but we chose to make our own--my wife's favorite special of bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. The cheese was outstanding. The crust was excellent--light and airy, flaky and slightly crisp from the oven. The tomato sauce was fresh, homemade tasting, and my wife loved that. You can buy garlic butter dip cups for 50 cents each. My wife also loves that. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of tart cherry cider, which were good. There are about six drinks on tap, including seasonal selections. Service was fast and friendly. College football was on the TV, correct protocol for a September Saturday at a restaurant in the South. We would definitely go back. Our only regret was that there weren't more customers enjoying the place. Rutherfordton itself was mostly empty, whereas Forest City was bustling when we drove through afterward. Rutherfordton needs to better support its downtown on the weekend, I'd say. That's in no way a reflection on Yellow Sun. We loved our visit and recommend it! And as a side note: The negative comments by others about the business being closed unexpectedly are not true. Notifications were posted on Facebook well in advance that the brewing company would be closed for family time over a holiday weekend. I saw that posting myself. Unlike many businesses, it appears Yellow Sun attempts to be vigilant about keeping its hours. That's important for a business, and it's standard procedure now in the food world that you check a restaurant's social media to be sure it's going to be open--and still have a backup plan for where to eat, just in case of an emergency! read more

Pizza was great! We had The King Daddy, and the YSB Special, Both were very good, the Noble Tart Cherry Cider was very nice with the Pizza. Hard to find but worth the hunt. read more

Food was delicious. I love having different combinations on pizza that I would never consider. Beer selection was awesome. It was nice to see beer from San Diego and Colorado but also local selections. Service was friendly and great ambiance. Definitely recommend. read more

Pizza is fantastic and their in-house Porter is great! They offer 4 types of wine and a cider if beer isn't your thing. There is no domestic beer available; it's all craft. Venue is small, what some would call cozy, so seating is limited. Get there early! read more

I love pizza, but their combinations aren't in my taste category. Very different types of pizza. If you go for this I guess it's good. Not for me. read more

Beer is great and the Pizza is some of the best around. Definitely try their weekly pizza special, particularly if you find yourself always ordering the same pizza. The atmosphere is perfect for a startup... not pretentious yet very cozy and welcoming to all. I'll update my review and possibly bump to 5 stars if the beer selection grows. They have a solid IPA and porter and some other craft selections and beverages to fill the gaps to have something for everyone. read more

Hair incident in the nachos! It was a short and curly ‍ But the way it was handled was the real disappointment! "Meg S is at Yellow Sun Pizza and Pints." Why didn't anyone ever tell us about this place??? Digging into the nachos... big "pube" looking hair Meg S: The most disappointing and frustrating part was that they really didn't seem to care... ‍ Yellow Sun Pizza and Pints: Meg S I would like to weigh in on this. I believe you were unhappy with us from the beginning because we did not offer sweet tea. You then proceeded to complain because the size of our nachos were not substantial enough. It is hurtful that you think we do not care. We work very hard and take alot of pride in what we do. We would have gladly remade your nachos but you asked for a refund which we gave you, no questions asked. For you to bash us on Facebook like this is disappointing and just isn't right. The decent thing to have done would have been to pick up a business card, located in plain sight beside the register, with my personal cell phone number on it and contact me, Kim Nichols, directly. I would have done what I could have to make it right. Posting things like this online is immature. I am sorry you had a bad experience but I feel like you could have gone about expressing your displeasure in a different way Miles S: Yellow Sun Pizza and Pints if you spent as much time on quality control and maybe some hair nets as you do on this post you could prevent this kind of situation. From the time we walked in it felt like we were bothering you. You couldn't stop your conversation with your employee long enough to greet us. When we had questions you seemed very put out and interrupted. When I pointed out the hair there was no apology simply a "I will make you another one." Fix the problem.... Meg S: Yellow Sun Pizza and Pints This is such craziness... where are you getting this story??? Now you're just fabricating stuff. We ordered half and half teas, not sweet teas, were told that you didn't have tea, just sodas and beers. Yes, it took us a minute to figure out what to drink because we don't drink sodas and can't drink alcohol (every restaurant I've ever been to has tea, but whatevs, no biggie). No one greeted us when we walked in, finally after we stood around confused someone at the counter stopped her conversation long enough to direct us that we just order at the cash register and then pick a seat. I asked if we could sit outside, she said sure, I had to ask how to get out there. Once outside we had to get the stools from a stacked, wet pile, dry them off and set our stuff up (no big deal, not normal, but no biggie). We ordered the nachos and a pizza. When the nachos came out, they looked delicious, and we said so! They were huge and amazing looking! And they were delicious! For about 3 bites, then the hair was spotted. I have no idea where anyone got that we complained the nachos were too small??? I don't know about you, but it's a hard NO when it comes to hairs in my food! We were really hungry and it was REALLY disappointing that the hair was there! But what was the most frustrating and disappointing was the way it was, and still is being handled. There was no apology or appalled reaction. Just a simple "I'll make another". ‍ We were completely put off by the hair and didn't want a second try at another hair. Maybe instead of trying to distract from the real problem you should be humbled, apologetic and take a good look at your cleanliness standards and customer service approach. We actually just discussed last night how disappointing it was and that maybe we could give it another try...then you posted your fabricated story lashing out, when it should have, and could have, been a sincere apology and you could have gained a customer. It's all about how stuff is handled...life lessons ‍ read more
