I ordered the sliders, which come with black truffle sauce, brie, and thinly sliced pickles. These sliders were cooked perfectly, and the balance of sauce, cheese, and pickles were top-tier sliders. A group of 9 of us came here for a company dinner. Needless to say the ambience and decor of the Mark restaurant, situated inside the Mark Hotel exceeds its reputation. But I'm afraid besides the steak entrée (which was 10/10), not much else stood out to me. For appetizers, we had grilled artichoke (friends loved it, i am not a fan), endives salad and kale salad both of which needed seasoning. Desserts were good but did not stick out to me. The service was great, waiters were attentive and consistently filled our waters. However, one server had accidentally tipped a glass of wine down my colleague's dress. I'm hoping this was a one off occurrence, though Jean Georges establishments are held up to very high standards. All in all, good experience if it were not for the accidental spill. The standout here is the service: from the entrance, to being seated, all throughout the meal, to the quality of the doggy bag they handed us for leftovers: the service is excellent here. The distance to the park also makes it a great spot to go to for lunch before a walk in the park. The crispy salmon sushi is a great appetizer! The bed of sushi rice is thick and crunchy. The salmon itself is fresh and tender, if a little chewy. The hamachi sashimi is a little sour, but overall, had fresh texture. The soy yuzu dressing added a bright acidic note to the fatty fish. The warm shrimp salad was delicious! The champagne vinegar dressing was a pop of flavor on the bed of shrimp and veggies. After we finished, we asked for a to-go box for leftovers, which were super carefully wrapped up for us in a branded doggy bag complete with utensils and napkins. First they got our entrée wrong and we had to wait for 15 minutes for them to bring out the correct entrée then they overcharged us in the bill and we had to spend another 10 minutes waiting for the bill to be corrected because they had already authorized it. inexperienced servers who clearly do not belong to a five star hotel ambience. if you are going to charge $40 for a cocktail and claim yourself to be a five star hotel please hire service staff of at least some pedigree. This is def a place where you come for the fame, ambience, not the food. I mean the food is fab, but it is also very very overpriced. My gf and I shared a pizza and a whole roasted head of cauliflower. Pizza was super standard Neapolitan style and the cauliflower was good, but not worth $50!! My experience was very underwhelming. I so disappointed that I asked to speak to the manager. Our meal took over 90 minutes to be served. The simplest of things (a used napkin on my chair when seated at our table, our $25 grey goose dirty martini was not served with blue cheese stuffed olives as requested and the waiter said 'just for tonight we don't have stuffed olives' seems very odd especially since he brought us a plate of blue cheese to stuff the olives ourselves . the table was not cleared throughout our meal unless I handed the dishes to the server, food service was extremely extremely slow) The food ( tuna tartar, chopped salad with figs and apples, salmon served with mashed potatoes and bok choy, and Fettuccini Alfredo) was good. I have been to a number of Jean George's restaurants in New York and other cites / countries. I'd say the menu of the Mark is not as impressive as others, probably because it is an on-property dining option. I came here with my friend for a catch-up dinner. We were seated at the exit door to the backyard (yes, there were a number of tables there and a few guests were dining there). Whenever there were people coming and going or waiters trying to serve the food for guests sitting outside, they had to squeeze in behind my back, opened the door and sometimes forgot to close it properly, which was why I could feel the cold air from time to time. As you can imagine, it was pretty disruptive in terms of the whole dining experience. The waiters apologized a few times, but I thought the restaurant could have adjusted the seating arrangement to avoid this in the future. We ordered the Grilled Black Sea Bass as entree and Honey Roasted Fig as dessert. The sea bass was very tender, I like the combination of fennel, carrots and olive, which added a bit acidity and subtle sweetness to make the sea bass more flavorful in a balanced way. The honey roasted fig itself is more on the sweet side, that is why you have to eat it with the cumin ice cream to balance the flavor. The price is definitely above average, but the quality of the food is decent. It is definitely not one of my recommended JG restaurants though. read more

Amazing! I have been to the restaurant and bar. Both are delightful and drinks super delicious, just perfect. The decor is beautiful, love the fresh roses and bouquets. Pouring coffee the server poured my husband's cup 1/3 of the way and said they would refill with fresh coffee. That never happened. When clearing the table a server hit the back of one of our party's head with a plate. When the individual said ow there was no response from the server until I mentioned that they had hit the back of her head with a plate...the response, "I did?". Came here to celebrate an early Christmas with my family. We all got different martinis and I was SO pleased with my choice, it was a holiday eggnog martini and quite possibly one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Would come back just for that. For appetizers we ordered the Samosas and the Crispy Salmon Sushi. I'm a HUGE fan of crispy salmon and this did not disappoint. For dinner we split the cheeseburger - we were sold on the black truffle dressing & brie. I don't normally order cheeseburgers but couldn't resist, and I'm glad that I didn't. I decided to come here for a late lunch but they were totally booked. However their courtyard outdoor dining was available so I opted fir that to sit right away. It is roofed with heaters in the wall. Try to sit under the heater as little wind tunnel comes through the roof covering. But I would rather be outdoors so this is what I picked and was able to have the place pretty private. I ordered their cheeseburger with truffled sauce which comes with a delicious Crenshaw fry. I opted also for extra shaved white truffles which they had in my sandwich. When I opened my sandwich the shaved truffles were stuck to the other side of my bread which was lucky. With the delicate flavor of fresh truffles I separated it from my sandwich and would Cut a piece with a fork and knife and enjoyed my freshly grated truffle of what appears to be a brioche bun with a little sauce from the sandwich. We went to Mark Chalet by Jean-Georges which is a seasonal pop-up by Mark Restaurant near Mark hotel and it was great. We ordered appetizers, fondue with truffle and all the deserts all of which was accompanied by exquisite Swiss wine (which isn't easy to find as they export so little). We basically ordered everything on the pop-up menu which made it a very easy selection and perfect size for 3. Veal zurichoise was my favorite - veal with mushrooms - it was tender and went well with garnishes. Slow baked arctic char was a baked salmon which was prepared to perfection! The fondue came with veggies, bread and cured meat which paired wonderfully together. The service was fantastic - we were accompanied by the sommelier and the chef and manager of beverage came by to say hi and wait staff was on point. So this review is for the Bar area. The truffle pizza was good but definitely not worth the price point. The chicken soup was great. But $36 for soup are you out of your mind? The pizza by the way was $45. The drinks were crazy, expensive... Even by New York standards. $33 for a glass of Chardonnay. $26 for Tito's. and the pours were regular pours. The only reason they got two stars is that our waitress Monica was very attentive and nice, and we met some people there and had a wonderful time connecting with them. Although, ppl do dress up. However, no one is judging you if you show up dressed casual. Would I seek this place? Not really? Do I end up here? More than I'd like to admit. No issues with the staff, no issues with anything. Personally just think it is for a certain group of ppl to meet and people are not really going there for the food or drinks being extraordinary. The portions are large so we shared a salad, the lobster burger, and the cookies. We were really impressed that the waiters and waitresses were very kind and completely fine with us sharing the dishes. They even brought us some really adorable extra plates without us even asking! The Mark disappointingly has an overpriced and low quality-tiered brunch experience. After having been to multiple iterations of Jean-Georges restaurants, this one seemed like an inferior menu rehash but with exorbitantly high prices given its food quality. Brunch menu items consisted of basic combinations such as eggs, pancakes, etc., while lunch menu items were scattered American dishes such as pizza, salads, burgers. Appetizer Peekytoe Crab Cake - If you ever want a truly memorable experience with crab, go to JoJo and order their own peekytoe crab dumplings. The Mark's version was served at near room-temperature, and the crab cake was more of a lump that lacked any originality. The slivers of grapefruit and avocado did little to complement. Entrees Egg White Omelette - Frankly, I've been to midwestern brunch chains with better quality of eggs and home fries. The portions were so tiny that I was nowhere near full after finishing my meal. The salad was just a toss of mixed greens and vinegar dressing. Buttermilk Pancakes - The worst part of this dish was that the pancakes weren't even cooked properly. The middle parts were almost runny, and my friend ended up eating around the centers. The amount of fruit given would not even be enough for half your daily dose of vitamins. This time with several tables open my friend and I were escorted to the smallest table in the restaurant which was next to the kitchen. I asked to be moved and was told no. And from then on we were ignored. People who came in after we did were served before. The manager tried to correct our miserable experience but that was after we were waiting for an hour and a half with no food. He gave us a discount on the meal but it was too little too late. After paying over $60 for the two pizzas, I was literally shocked to see the tiny boxes arrive. My husband enjoyed the truffle pizza but said it wasn't worth the price tag. My margarita pizza was fine, but not better than the regular New York style pizza we typically order that costs $18 for a huge pie. I don't like to leave bad reviews during covid - restaurants have enough on their hands - but I do want other helpers to be forewarned about the disproportionate prices they'd pay for the small portions here.
