There were only two bath towels in the room. In every other Hampton I've ever stayed in there have been four. Why is this important? If you are sharing a room with a woman who wants to wash her hair invariably she will dry her body with one towel and dry her hair with another. To put the nail in the coffin arriving at breakfast at 9 AM almost everything had run out and the kitchen had not timed things well with people waiting 10 to 15 minutes for replenishment. As a brand, I love Hampton Inn. It is my go to place when I travel for business, however, this experience was."less than"

The location is beautiful with Keuka Lake on one side for a great view. If the view is important to you during your stay, be sure to ask for a room on that side of the hotel. The rooms are pretty much standard for a hotel like this. Nothing special but nice, enough room and a nice bathroom with a roomy shower. Too bad many hotels are not providing a bar of soap anymore. It's now bottles on the wall. I still prefer a real bar. The bar/restaurant is small but very nice. We didn't try the food but we saw a number of dishes being served and they looked good.

The exterior is well-maintained, the lobby is quaint, and the amenities were standard which included a small fitness center, pool/hot tub, business center, and continental breakfast. The breakfast buffet didn't offer a substantial variety which was okay for something that was free. For this place, it was mainly for comfort and good value stay. Deluxe Room/2 Queens- There we 3 of us sharing this room and it was more than enough space for a couple of nights. Overall Service: The staff was nice here. I remembered asking them for makeup wipes because I forgot to pack them and they gave me enough to share with my girlfriends too.

The first thing I noticed when we arrived and Brenda showed us our room is how clean everything was. The amber walls and Americana decor were bright and inviting, the bathroom was absolutely spotless, and the shelves were stocked with little toiletries you could have easily forgotten to pack (e.g. Q-Tips!). Everywhere you looked were thoughtful little touches that told you this wasn't just a hotel; this was someone's home. The breakfasts amazed me. I've stayed at inns and B&Bs where you might get an apple or a pre-packaged muffin, but not here. The first day started with a fresh fruit cup, homemade chocolate chip banana muffins and cheese danish, coffee, OJ, and white grape peach juice. I thought that might be the extent of it, but then Brenda presented us with French toast (with homemade bread), sausage, and maple syrup that she and Gary made from the trees on their property. The second day was even better with light and crispy Belgian waffles and Brenda's homemade strawberry syrup. Honestly, this whole entry could be about the food, but I'd just encourage you to see for yourself. As for the location, I was worried it was a bit remote, but that was silly. You're literally minutes from so many great attractions. Drive down their road and turn right, and you'll be in Penn Yan (or one of the great breweries or wineries along the way) in no time; turn left and you'll be on the Keuka Wine trail headed to Hammondsport. There's so much to do, see, and taste, you're going to want more than a single weekend. And, if you're as lucky as we were, you'll have some great fellow travelers to chat with at breakfast as you compare notes about which places to stop at. In short, Brenda and Gary run a first rate establishment, and you should really find a way to treat yourself by staying there. Enjoy!

The Trimmer House is a stunning Victorian home with beautiful sitting rooms, a large, covered front porch, and cozy bedrooms. The en suite with the clawfoot tub was a selling point for me. Bessie's Room was spectacular. It was spacious, comfortable, and the shutters made for the perfect conditions for sleeping. I've never stayed in a B&B, and the Trimmer House has set the bar incredibly high. I can't rave enough about the breakfast - the food was amazing! Quiche, tarts, fresh food, bottomless coffee. I have a hard time believing there is a better breakfast in town. Bravo to the amazing hosts for creating such a comfortable, luxury experience in Penn Yan. Worth every penny and more!
