The Superstition views are beautiful
Christina S.

This is definitely not someplace I would return to for a meal. To sit on the patio for drinks, and the amazing view of The Superstitions, would be worth it IF you could get a decent server. My husband and I have been here twice in under a year and have been disappointed both times. #1 the servers were friendly, but awful. The waits between being seated, ordering your first beverage, ordering your meal, needing another beverage and, finally, paying your bill, are awful. To boot (pun intended), this western saloon has awful food and steep prices. The burgers would be better served on your own barbecue and the dishes would probably be served warmer. This one is a hard pass. Go out there to enjoy Goldfield Ghost Town but head out when you want a drink and our meal.

Pulled pork sandwich- tasted dry.

What a view! Service is good, but however the food is not. Pulled pork sandwich with maybe a hit on bbq and very little portion on the sandwich itself. The pulled pork sandwich was all bread. That bbq pork sandwich needs a revamp.

Okay so.... Yes it's hot they have fans and not AC but let me tell ya about the food that's what you are on yelp for after all right? The 16oz T-Bone hot damn it was better than the $50.00 NY Strip at Arrogant Butcher that I had the night before. Ordered medium rare and it actually came out how I ordered it. The service was great, very nice people that enjoyed conversation with you. The place was pretty quaint and the whole ghost town vibe was cool. Unfortunately we didn't get here early enough to see all the shops so don't miss it!!!

Half burger. I didn't bother taking it.

Staff was polite friendly and attentive. Place had a good old town saloon feel. Love the decorations. Food was one step above, free school lunch. Burger was cold, beer was warm, and water isn't free. Come see for yourself

Really cool place. We just had drinks outside. Live music and inside is full of western decor. Didn't eat anything.

Delicious prickly pear margaritas. Great service, a fun place to explore and listen to music.

Service was good food terrible. Cold dry chicken sandwich. For the cost I wish we would have gone to Wendy's or McDonald's.

Don't tell anybody there are cowboy singers , a great view from the huge patio and delicious steaks or burgers. It's crowded enough already.

Nasty staff and mediocre food. Great ambiance, but if you're a minority, you're definitely not welcome. Very uncomfortable experience.

I recommend the mushroom if you like mushrooms. Bulgogi is great, seafood pancake is bomb, and the side dishes are always in point. The service is fine they are generally attentive and are usually kind.

Let me preface this review by saying we will be back here. The food was insanely good but the…read moreservice was lacking. It was our first time at a Korean barbecue place. The only prior knowledge I had about KBBQ before coming here was that you cook the meat yourself. We were confused on what was included in our menu option and we did not receive much guidance from our server. We asked how things were served but she said that it was confusing and hard to explain. This was really off putting. The servers were all very kind though. They were quick with our requests throughout the night but seemed to not be well organized. The food was AMAZING once we finally did order. It took a while for us to get started though because we did not understand the process. We finally deduced from our disjointed conversations that meats and certain sides are included in the $32 option. You can order 3 meats at a time and sides for everyone. After the food started coming out we began to enjoy ourselves. We ordered the regular and spicy bugolgi (these were the favorites), spicy octopus, shrimp and cinnamon pineapple. For sides we got fried rice, ramen, kimchi and potstickers. We were rushed into getting a new grill top and didn't understand why, but after the next round it was made extremely clear. The grill top needs to be changed out frequently because if it's not the oil and food remnants will burn. This wasn't much of a problem until we began cooking the spicy meats. The spices permeated the air and started choking us. We were coughing on hot pepper air and had to request a new grill top instead of being asked if we were ready to switch. This is how we realized we were the only seated table without a vent above our grill. Again the food here was great. Aside from the cinnamon pineapple. That was dry and unripe. It needed a glaze of some sort and the fruit itself was too hard. Everything we ordered was brought out quick and was nicely presented. We had tried to order veggie tempura but they were 86ed so they added some veggies on our meat platters which was much appreciated! I know we were a super needy table so thank you to everyone there. They were all very accommodating and helpful whenever we made a request. They seemed to be pretty short staffed so they took care of us well for how busy they were. I just wish we would've been given clearer instructions in the beginning so we would've known what to expect. We would go again though.

This time I decided to try something else and tried the Slow Roasted Prime Rib French Dip as well as sharing the Grilled Shrimp Cocktail which I had previously and it's always delicious. My friend ordered the Some Like it Hot burger without the bun. The French Dip was the best I ever had - absolutely mouthwatering and what was I thinking of only ordering salad previously! I tasted my friend's burger and it was top notch. The fries were so delicious and I'm one who usually avoids fried food but I have been craving them since. The food is really what speaks to me in this establishment. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar without windows but the main ceiling is pretty high. It's definitely a sports bar with a separate Football Menu. There is usually live music or Trivia which was on the last night I was there. It's a great casual place for Gold Canyon residents/snow birds to gather. The service is always impeccable and you will always be greeted to the door and offered a table. Servers are quite attentive to the patrons.

At the end of the evening, they also brought out their delicious macarons as a birthday gift. Such thoughtful touches. Our server was polished, warm, knowledgeable, and completely on top of everything. I started with a sampling of oysters, and each one was superb. My friend, who is not a seafood person, ordered the NY strip, and it was excellent: well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had the soft-shell crab roll as a smaller main course. It arrived noticeably after my friend's steak, but the restaurant handled it beautifully. They comped it without us asking, and the manager came over to chat with us. He was delightful and circled back again at the end of the evening. Between the beautiful patio, excellent food, and genuinely friendly staff, Buck & Rider made my birthday dinner feel special. We had a fantastic evening.

It deserves THAT. And I feel we all deserve this as well. A potato can be handled well no matter its size and taste fantastic - why can't the steakhouse cooks (imagine the possibility of upping one's gain by studying the art of cooking the perfect potato so as each patron talks about "That dreamy soft potato! When can we all go back?" Up North owners went head to head for the best steak. Now we all KNOW if one place is too busy it's a delight to hit up our second choice. It's not so much about the food then, it's about "Who will not see, or see?" "What kind of music is playing tonight? Do you want to wait to be seated?" Or is it "Honey I don't care. They're all really good!" That's what locals who live here want. A steakhouse we bring ourselves to. Food that keeps us wanting to go even when it's 110° at 6:30pm. If we home cooks can take an average steak and wow our wives or hubbies...so can our local AJ steakhouse. If the owner is tired, I get it. If the cooks are tired, I get it. But I kind of feel like there's no room for subpar meals in this market. I'd rather be told "The great ribeyes are here! Don't be late as we will sell out." "Our salads this week will be memorably upbeat and crisp! How about a little pear slice added with an EVOO & pear BALSALMIC vinaigrette dressing with or with blue cheese and croutons? Trust me, THAT SALAD brings it, brings people, add chicken on top or sliced steak, and I'm there every 7-8 days all Summer long. Mammoth is about breathing. And staring at the mountain. Alone or with someone. About chatting. And meeting up. It's the party place with a view. Or a quiet meetup. I'm unsure who is missing out on more. U.S.? Or 'them.' More sales. Heavier tips. I think it's all possible and doable. Here's the kicker - the steakhouse does not even have to rebrand. It's a good deal. I know not one person who doesn't like flavor. And a smile. Half portion size options on a few items keeps all ages coming back. A plate for two people to share?....one plate. Two forks n knives, no extra charge? Shared by two people who understand the joy & mindfulness lesson other people in countries practice often - is a positive expenditure most couples both young and old. AN Entree box. Plus box 2 for 1 side or 2 sides or 3. A nice piece of bread, 2 options. Where's the historically beloved ranch shredded pit beef dinner, with barracho pinto beans, a potato and tortilla? I'm looking forward to the day. Love this place. It's not wrong to want to see more joy. I sat at the bar alone. With a family member. Invited others. Outside or inside...at the bar. I've talked to some of the long timers of AJ and other natives. Met people from all over. Invest in your people and I predict a happy future together and more lovely conversations. A few big outdoor coolers might not hurt anyone. Even the hard working staff! It might not be historic but.......thats ok from after Easter thru September. Newcomers? Come on by. Try it. Enjoy it. Have a cold beer and some food. Enjoy a traditional cocktail served up your way. Have some fun. It's good. Ask for what you'd love to see on the menu. Leave the owner an idea. Just remember it's a historic atmosphere and venue. I take everyone here. But quality on my plate is still a must. A lamb chop from the good old USA was indeed historical in AZ way back....hint hint. You know they use to run sheep from the Valley up thru the mountains to the Rim in the early Spring? Yes. We have lots if Basque families. My own granddad was a sheep farmer. My Dad a rancher. There's lots of us here Mammouth. Let's show others the way to AZ via your tables, and that pretty bar with the most beautiful of Golden moments highlighting the historic SUPS and Goldfield ranges.
