Unfortunately, had a really bad experience with The Makery and will never go here again or recommend it to anyone. I ordered cupcakes a week in advance for a shower. When I placed the order, the price that was quoted included filling in the cupcakes. About 10 minutes after I picked up the order, they called me and said they forgot to fill them and would I mind turning around so they could fill them. I picked them up on my way to the event, there would not be enough time to turn around and drop them off or wait for them to be filled. The person who called me said they would credit me for the cost of the filling - which never happened. When I placed the original order I asked for a stand to put them on, the girl that was helping me said there was just a deposit for using it but the girl that rang up the order said there was actually a fee. When I dropped the stand off, the manager came to the register and said they wouldn't be crediting me because the original charge did not include filling and that they just wouldn't charge me for the stand. I would never trust them to do a wedding or an important event. Maybe just having the kids go in and decorate cakes is all they can manage, because they couldn't get a 3 dozen cupcake order right or provide correct information to me. Not to mention, a few of the people at the shower commented that some of the cupcakes looked pathetically small and smashed. No good.... read more

Ordered a cake same day from The Makery thinking it would be fine but nothing special. I am not a huge cake fan. I got a red velvet with whipped cream frosting. I have to say this was one of the most delicious cakes I've had! Everyone agreed. It was a huge hit. Thanks again!! read more

I got the cutest, most delicious Lego cake for my nephew's 1st Birthday party. The Makery added a smash cake to the design by stacking a small lego cake brick on top of the larger cake. It was genius. read more

I am impressed! I purchased a living social deal for a one hour cupcake making class. I honestly wasn't expecting much, but the cupcakes were really good. The buttercream was fluffy and buttery. The cupcakes were moist. The staff was helpful and patient. There were many varieties of different colored frostings and toppings. The kids and I had an amazing time decorating, and we came home with eight cupcakes each! read more

We have loved this bakery. They are a nut free facility which is very hard to find in a bakery (my husband has a nut allergy). We used them for our wedding cake, baby shower cakes and both of my girls birthday cakes through the years and it has always been wonderful - taste great and beautifully decorated! Maybe that is why I'm so disappointed today. We went to pick up my daughter's 5th birthday cake and it looks in finished. I love that they were able to accommodate my daughters vision of having a birthday cake with Elsa fighting Darth Vader however it looks put together at the last minute. Now I'm running around - making my own frosting so I can put on some decorative piping to help make the cake look better. I don't mind paying higher prices for professional cakes but they really should look better more complete than this. Really disappointed in this establishment that we have loved for so many years. read more

I ordered a lemon cake for a family birthday, we ate it 4 hours after picking it up and the strawberries on top were not fresh and they were not secure - they rolled off while I held the cake on my lap in the car. When we got to my sisters to have cake the cake was a total mess. On top of being not attractive with strawberry mess, the lemon cake was flavorless (as was the frosting). There are a lot of bakeries in Denver so I'll be going elsewhere next time. $47 of pure flavorless mess. Very embarrassing to show up to a party with a cake like that. Yuck. We have used the Makery a few times. The cakes turn out beautiful, and they're very good. However, I just had a terrible experience, for the second time, and will no longer be sending any business their way. I was hosting a bridal shower, and called 3 weeks ahead to get an idea of pricing and set and order. They told me to send an email with all of the details asking for pricing, and this way I could send in pictures of what I wanted and have it included in my order. I did so that day. 3 or 4 days later, I hadn't heard anything, so I sent another email asking that someone respond. I also tried to stop by, but the hours are very short and they were closed at 10:30 AM on a Monday. Finally, a few days later, someone responded and said they were too busy, and to go somewhere else. If I had just been coming to them at this point, I would not have met their required notice, so I was very annoyed that they were putting me in this predicament with whoever I went to next. This is actually the second time they have turned me away. I have also used Cake Heads. It's further from my home, which is my one bad thing to say, but they do a beautiful job and the cake is delicious. I would direct anyone here instead. read more

Honestly, the cake was not very good. We went to the open tasting on Sunday and after they dropped off the samples, no one would talk to us about a consulttion. Which we didn't need anyway because the flavors they offered us to taste were not good except dulche de leche. We asked if we could try a normal flavor (chocolate or vanilla) and they said no, only poppy seed, pink champagne, and other blech flavors. We are going else where. read more

Went to try cake for a wedding tasting back in April and the cake was pretty ok. It wasn't any better than what I could make out of a box. The prices were absurdly high, so we decided to go with another option. Then they started emailing me. I unsubscribe. Then I get another email. I unsubscribe again. I've called, emailed, unsubscribed, nothing will stop them sending me emails. HOW FRUSTRATING. A bad marketing campaign for lame cake at exorbitant prices. read more

I would not recommend this company ever! I have a gluten and dairy allergy and ordered a cake that cost over $400 for our 50th birthday celebration and it was a disaster! No one ate the cake because it tasted horrible and it was visually ugly when you cut into the cake! My order was incorrect and the owner of the company conceded to that but would only give me 50% of my money back. She is a horrible business owner who does not really care about her customers and I would never do business with her again! They screwed up and it cost me over $200! She argued with me for over a half an hour before she finally agreed that her company added a raspberry filling and we did not want a raspberry filling. Find another bakery! read more

The Makery has done it again. I had them make my wedding cake almost 2 years ago and it was a huge hit. Delicious and beautiful. They made the thoughts in my head reality and I couldn't have been happier. Then, last week I was asked to come up with something to do with my niece while she was in town. I wanted something unique and the Makery provided just that with their DIY Cake option. Today I took my 8 year old niece, sister-in-law, aunt-in-law, and mother-in-law to the Makery to decorate our own cakes. It was a huge hit. The staff taught us how to use the different decorating tips and had lots of icing colors and sprinkles plus specialty decorations. We each made out own cake and when we got home we had a unique, individualized and delicious dessert to share with the boys and no mess to clean up! It's very difficult to find something that three generations of women can enjoy together but I would say we did it today. I would recommend the DIY cakes to anyone looking for something creative and fun to do. They even said we could bring a bottle of wine if we wanted to do a girls night some time. read more

Me and my now husband were looking for a place that does cupcake wedding cakes on a budget and they came through and helped us so much.They were within our budget and even did things so last minute. I had visited 3 times, each time getting a sample on their sunday taste testings which obviously sold me. They were so professional about everything and even called to confirm everything. They gave me great ideas for cake stands and decorations. They were just on top of everything. Plus the cake was so delicious! It was definitely the talk of the whole wedding. If I ever have any more cake needs they will always be my first choose. read more

First of all, the cake here is absolutely delicious! I will definitely use The Makery again for future celebrations because the cake is just so darn good! We had our wedding cake from here and it tasted and looked great. I had sent in a picture of our cake topper so they knew what colors to use, and they requested that I send in paint chips so they could match the color exactly. They also confirmed receipt of the paint chips so I never had to wonder what was going on with the bakery. Very good customer service.The cake was one thing I didn't worry about at all on our wedding day! You also get a complimentary sweetheart cake (small cake for just bride and groom) which is awesome because my husband and I didn't get to eat cake on our big day, plus this "small" cake is at minimum four servings, but you can easily get 8 good slices out of it. Also you get a complimentary one-year anniversary "cake top" so you don't have to freeze yours and eat it a year later. One last thing, we had a fairly small budget and were thinking we'd have to go the grocery store route for our cake, but The Makery's prices are very reasonable and we were able to get a nice three-tired cake for over 70 people mostly in our budget. ;-) Pretty awesome if you ask me! read more

Giving one star since I can't give it zero. They totally messed up my friends bat mitzvah cake. It was the wrong color and the symmetry was off. Then they asked how it could be fixed. I thought that they were the professionals, dumb concept! In all fairness they did slash the price however with less than 24 hours before the event, we were now left with a cake that mismatches the decore. Will deligate my next cake to a five year old and get more satisfactory results. read more

I am very satisfied with The Makery. They were very understanding throughout the entire cake planning process and helped us make decisions. The flavors are all ridiculously good, and their fondant is fantastic. They made us a Sly Cooper themed wedding cake. I know we're a weird couple. The cake had Sly Cooper comic strips running along each of the tiers with Sly and Carmelita doing the tango on top. The cake may be the most photographed thing at the wedding. And it tasted perfect. There was very little cake left. I would strongly recommend The Makery. read more
