What a wonderful experience! I was enthusiastically greeted on the phone when I began my order of bad piggie themed cupcakes for my son's birthday party! The girl who answered the phone was cheerful & happily planned with me on how we could decorate the cupcakes with designs. I chose to go with 3 flavors chocolate, lemon & vanilla! 35 cupcakes with edible printed out angry birds and bad piggies and upgrade the birthday boys cupcake to a Texas sized cupcake with a fondant bad piggy with a crown! My son was ecstatic seeing the piggy on his cupcake! It really made him feel special and I know it wowed him! The moment everyone got the cupcakes they were in delicious ecstasy! "YUMS" and "O MAN THIS IS GOOD!" I couldn't agree more so delicious I've never had a buttercream taste so light and just the perfect amount! Thank you the Makery!!! read more

The Makery Cake - Snapped a quick photo before my birthday boy happily devoured it! - Bakeries Near Me - Centennial, Colorado

I've ordered two cakes from here, last year and the year before, and both were absolutely amazing! It's about that time to order again! We normally do three tier, with three different flavors and fillings. This is some next level, "Cake Boss" type of bakery, I swear!! These are the BEST looking AND tasting cakes I have yet to encounter and, believe me, I have searched high and low! I am beyond thrilled to have found The Makery! Not only are the cakes delish and beautiful, but the staff is always friendly and accommodating. They take all your ideas, wants and desires and literally create a piece of art! Not only this, but the owner, Dez, is A-MAZING! She goes out of her way to reply to her clients, she goes above and beyond to make it happen for you and she genuinely cares, not only about her business, but about her customers! I've had the pleasure of meeting an empathic, dedicated businesswoman and I will continue to purchase cakes from her establishment. read more

Our wedding cake was an absolute hit. I know, so often, people choose to do a dessert table for their wedding due to cost efficiency; however, I am so glad we chose to have a cake. Tasting to delivery, everything was excellent. We were so sad when our honeymoon cake and cookies were accidentally dropped by a family member during breakdown of our wedding Looking forward to our anniversary cake! THANKS A MILLION to The Makery Cake Co! read more

Had them make some cupcakes for my boyfriend's birthday and they turned out great. Even better, they tasted scrumptiously delicious! They were a huge hit at the party and everyone loved them!!!! Thank you so much read more

I usually love this place. For the last 7-8 years I have ordered a majority of our celebratory cakes from here. When they were hosting parties for kids back in the day we had them here as well. If something weren't right, they would always correct it and I would leave a happy camper. Today I stopped by to price a unicorn cake for my soon to be 12 year old. It was 75, but she's not having a party so I don't mind paying the cost. Today is Wednesday and I need the cake for Sunday. Well the woman working told me no. She said they were full and could not make the cake. What the what? I have never had this happen there in all my years of being a customer. Guess it's time to find a bakery that cares about long time customers. Time to get out of the burbs and find a place in the city. **owner called. I explained situation and that her site says within 4 days....She is not willing to budge. Lost a long time customer. So now I have to find a cake for my daughters birthday on Sunday. And a new baker for 2 birthdays in April!.. read more

Love The Makery! Our cakes have always turned out exactly how we were wanting them to look and they always taste great. We have used them to make our wedding cake, grooms cake, baby shower cake, bridal shower cake and our son's smash cake for his birthday. I highly recommend them. read more

I cannot wait for my wedding day to see and EAT our amazing cake. The Makery is soooo friendly, we went in a for a tasting, and while we were there, all of these gorgeous and beautiful cakes were coming out of the kitchen and being prepared to be delivered. Being able to immediately see cakes that were exactly what I was looking for was wonderful, and put me at ease for our wedding day. The owner sat down and helped us design our cake, she was really friendly, drew everything out while we were talking and made the process super quick. About a week later we received a handwritten custom note thanking us for choosing them, with information specific to our cake and meeting, which to me, was just above and beyond customer service. I highly recommend going here, beyond the great service, they are really affordable, offer free delivery AND couples cake, AND a free anniversary cake a year later, unbelievable deal. read more

I seriously never give 1 star reviews. I will keep it short and to the point...the service was ok, the price outrageous, the actual look of the cake was good, but it tasted awful. read more

Absolutely fabulous flavor and such a fun design! Family and friends loved the reindeer cake and we plan to make it an annual part of Christmas celebration. The fillings are creamy and decadent. The fondant was flawless making this a 5 star cake!~ read more

The Makery did my wedding cake and cupcakes in August 2012. They were a pleasure to work with. Even when I changed what I wanted, the design of the cake, and the cake topper. They offer free tasting on Sunday's, and all of the cake is amazing. In fact I ended up choosing 8 different flavors of cupcakes for my wedding Try the carrot cake. It is the best I had ever had and many guests at my wedding commented on how wonderful it was. I could not be happier with their service and would recommend The Makery to anyone wanting a great experience. read more

We used The Makery for our wedding, and the cake was BEAUTIFUL, tasty, and affordable. Our custom cake design turned out perfectly, and we were able to get a wide variety of flavors for a cake to serve 80 people. They also include a "sweetheart" small cake for the bride and groom the night of the wedding (if you are too busy/having too much fun and forget to eat cake!) AND they also re-make a small cake for your anniversary, so you don't have to freeze the top of the cake. To top it all off, we forgot to order our anniversary cake from them, and I called it in the day of...kind of bummed that I forgot and we would have to eat the cake a few days late, and they called me a few hours later to tell me they had prepared the cake that day so we could enjoy it on our anniversary. They went above and beyond even a year later. What wonderful service! read more

Recommend for any occasion! They made our wedding cake spectacular and stress free. As for our anniversary cake there was a tiny miscommunication BUT they went above and beyond to ensure we received the best service! I can't say enough great things about this place. Definitely recommend read more

The Makery went above and beyond for our daughter's birthday cake. They were willing to work with me for the vision of the cake. We even had a special stand and with no question, they put it together and assembled the cake on top. The cake tasted amazing and was a huge hit. We definitely will use them again and I suggest you give them a chance, too. read more

I ordered cupcakes from here for my son's birthday. I was happy they were a nut free facility because one of his classmates has an allergy. I couldn't believe how small the cupcakes were (I ordered regular size) and they barely had any frosting on them. They tasted ok but very overpriced for what you get. Wouldn't recommend them. read more

I bought 8 Mamapedia (like Groupon) gift certificates to The Makery to use for my kids and some of their friends for my daughters Birthday. The certificates were for a Jr Pastry Chef class. I booked the class and they assured me over the phone I could use the certificates and everything was set. We arrived and they gave me a hard time about using them, and tried to tell me I would have to pay $250 extra because the Jr Chef Pastry class we booked for the 8 kids was more expensive than a regular class. I told them I had already talked to someone on the phone, and they told me I could use the coupon for this specific class, even though it was a little more. They refused to hold the whole class for the kids, and offered I could A) not use the coupons and pay $500 for the birthday party B) use the coupons and pay $250 for the party or C) use the coupons and have a one hour party with only decorating cupcakes. UGH! This is happening while all the parents are arriving with kids and presents etc dropping them off. We opted for the one hour party. It was fun for the kids, but the staff kept disappearing even though there was 4 of them working at the time in this little place. I kept having to actually go in their back workroom and ask them what we were supposed to do next. I was so frustrated and will never come back here or recommend them to anyone. The only plus is that they do try to help with allergies, and they provided Gluten Free cupcakes for the kids allergic to wheat. read more

Zero stars! This place is no good especially the owner (D). She is very rude as are her employees as well must be a family joint. I told her I saw an employee touch my cake with her bare hands and there were finger impressions and she just shrugged it off. I will never ever go here again! Bad service and management. read more

It's 97 degrees out in mid-July. The kids are tired of swimming and I don't want another movie or the make-your-own-ceramic doorstop. What to do, what to do? I remembered this place from a friend's facebook pix and we LOVED it. Kind of far away from central Denver at County Line, but worth the drive if you're not very handy with one of those frosting tip things. . . My 10 year old daughter had a ball (so did I) and they were very nice. We got a very small chocolate layer and she decorated it with 3 different colors of frosting ($2.50 each) so we left with fun memories and a great tasting cake for $29.00. There are cheaper activities, but this was fun. I'd have fun with my girlfriends too, if they served wine. read more

I had a cake made to celebrate my sons black belt exam. The owner (I think) and I discussed the decorations. She drew it out on the order. I sent her a picture of a martial artist that we were copying to put on top of the cake. I had the cake covered in white fondant, she talked me out of doing "Congratulations" and my sons name in fondant letters because she said is is very hard work. The piped icing letters would be great and you would not be able to tell much difference. Upon picking up the cake, I was so disappointed. The design we drew out together was not followed. The piped "Congratulations" and my son's name were skinny and out of proportion to the rest of the decorations. I mentioned something to the person who was working the front when we picked up the cake. He said the decorations were pretty set on the cake and there is was nothing they could do. The cake looks like it was ordered from King Soopers for $15.00. Like it was made by a child attending a cake decorating class. I would not be so upset if the cake was a reasonable price, but a 10" round cake covered in fondant set me back $138.00 I will not be going back. I am feeling so ripped off. read more

We recently ordered a vegan wedding cake through The Makery Cake Company. Our daughter couldn't have been more pleased! At our initial consultation, Dez worked with us to make the shape, cake flavors and fondant for the perfect end product. She even replicated the lace of the wedding dress in the cake flowers. The cake was delivered to an unusual location (a mortuary) and it was right on time. Everyone loved the cake!!!! Dez, you and the Makery Cake Company are the absolute best! Thank you so much for adding to our daughter's special day. read more

After much searching for a wedding cake designer we checked out the Makery which also happened to be the furthest place from our venue, and we both wish we went there first. The service was very friendly, professional, and it was a very smooth consultation and process to go through. Not only did our price include a complimentary sweetheart cake for after the ceremony but also a free anniversary cake. As far as the cake was concerned it was fresh, very clean looking, and the designed was exactly how we wanted. The day of delivery went very smooth, and this was a great place to do business with. Would go back for any special event going forward. read more

The Makery did our wedding cake for our August 08 wedding. The price per person was fair and the end result was good. The pipe work was not as professional looking as I had expected but also did not pay a professional price for the cake. Good for bride on a budget. read more

The team at The Makery is great! They just did our wedding cake and we were so pleased with it.

What a delicious cake!! These cakes just taste so much better than any other cake I have had- awesome!! I appreciate what a great job The Makery did of communicating with me, explaining to me my options, and helping me choose icing. Thanks so much!! read more

I was referred to The Makery after my niece went to an amazing birthday party where they all made darling sleep over cakes. My 4 year old niece brought her cake to a family dinner and not only was it so cute but delicious!!!! I had The Makery then help with my twins first birthday-- from start to finish it was such a fun and easy experience. They are so creative and patient-- never once when I was contemplating flavors or designs did I feel rushed, they all were just right in there throwing out ideas and suggestions. They made a custom football cupcake cake and then two smash cakes! Even the smash cakes had so much detail and were so yummy! Everyone at the party commented on how good the cupcakes were! So impressed with The Makery!!!! I will be going back for all of my cake, cupcake and cookie occasions. Excited to also try some classes or decorating events. All of the staff could not be nicer and they all go above and beyond to make your order/ experience perfect! read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long to write about The Makery! I haven't had experience with them when it comes to formal cakes, but their portfolio sure is impressive! What I went for was a cupcake party! That's right, they let you decorate in their shop, and then they clean up the mess! If you have a lot of kids they can each get their own cupcake to decorate. If there are only a few kids you can get one cake and have them all pitch in. They have every kind of sprinkle and frosting and candle and decoration you can imagine. It's perfect. And the best part? You get to EAT what you make..... and it's yummy, I promise! read more

Recently my boyfriend and I showed up for the Friday Night Date Night DIY cake decorating session. It was fun. The staff showed us amateurs different techniques for decorating the cake with the frosting tips. You buy different colors of frosting already prepared for you in a bag for $2.75 each. My one complaint is one of the frostings we chose was old and we hard time decorating with it. We told a staff member and she gladly made new frosting for us. The cake was good, nothing more. It's a fun idea for a date night. read more

When our dessert bar plans fell through 3 weeks before our wedding, The Makery Cake Company got us in for a tasting right away. We went with an 8" "cutting" cake & sheet cake to serve. Amazing customer service, amazing cake... can't ask for more! Needless to say, I'm SO looking forward to our anniversary cake! read more

We ordered a gluten free cake from The Makery for our wedding, and it not only tasted delicious, but looked beautiful! It was elegant, and exactly what we wanted! Up until my Wedding Day I was very happy with my Makery experience. The cake tasting was fun and delicious and the cakes where very affordable. My husband and I did not want a traditional bride and groom cake topper so we had gotten two action figures of Mulder and Sculley from the X-files. When we went in for our cake consultation we chose a pink champagne cake with Bavarian Cream filling and cream cheese frosting. We finalized and paid for our cake on that day and our cake consultant told us she would keep our action figures to affix them to a board and prepare them for our cake. They later sent me a card to thank me for my business and to tell me how much they liked my topper. About two weeks from my Wedding Desiree (the owner) called and confirmed my order- BOTH cake and CAKE TOPPER. Fast forward to my Wedding reception I walk in to find that my cake has NO TOPPER and that the topper is no where to be found. The cake itself was good but both my husband and I where very let down that one of our favorite details was missing. I called The Makery as soon as I woke up the next morning and I left a message stating what had happened and that I was very upset. When Desiree called me back she was mildly apologetic but blamed me for not calling her when I noticed the topper wasn't there. I didn't see my cake until I walked into my reception and I didn't think to sacrifice one of my guests to phone tag. She also told me that it is in their contract that they do not keep cake toppers. However my consultant asked to hold it so it could be prepared for the cake. When I told Desiree this she told me my consultant no longer worked there. I fail to see why staff turn over should be an excuse for filling orders incompletely. Desiree gave me a $50 refund and a $100 store credit along with a handwritten note that she drove to my house with my action figures. I was not home when she did this. And although this was a nice enough gesture it won't fix my wedding pictures or memories of my cake and it doesn't make up for her blaming me for her forgetting the cake topper. I have no intention of using the store credit of doing business with The Makery again. Although they make awesome cakes their customer service and professionalism leaves much to be desired. read more

For some reason finding a cake was the hardest part of my wedding planning. I tried a couple of places and really didn't like the cake (who knew that was possible). I also found a lot places I wanted to try were already booked on my date, even 4-5 months in advance. Or, the one I disliked the most, some places made me feel my design options were very limited because I did not want fondant, we just don't like it! But then I found The Makery. My dad and I went for a tasting and were very impressed. Neither of us cares for chocolate cake but we both agreed that the chocolate cake at The Makery was amazingly tasty. My dad fell in love with the white chocolate cream cheese frosting and it be came a requirement. For anyone debating, it is definitely worth the extra money! When it came time to discuss our details we only had a vague idea of what we wanted, but we gave that to them as well as our color swatches and away we went. They did not limit our design based on our not wanting fondant. It was delivered on time, set up and ready in no time at all, and they even gave us a cake to take with us to the hotel that night. I would highly recommend the Makery to any one who finds themselves in need of a beautiful, delicious, cake. read more
