I don't ship a lot of things but goodness me, these folks are so pleasant I'll be looking for whatever excuse I can find to come here again. After trying to be clever and cheap and buy shipping supplies at K-Mart (and finding nothing that suited my needs) I figured I'd take my chances with whatever shipping supplies these folks were willing to sell me. And sell they did! And l loved them for it because despite my initial fears, they helped get me exactly what I needed - a perfectly sized box and just the right amount of bubblewrap- for much less than I'd anticipated. The incredibly helpful lady at the counter also helped me determine which shipping service would be cheapest for me and made sure I had a copy of the tracking number before I left. I can't remember the last time I was so happy to give someone my money. Honestly, I left wanting to hug someone. I will be back because if it feels this good to do business with them while getting shipping supplies and service, just imagine how great it would feel to come back to get something notarized! or copied! or faxed! read more

I agree with the glowing reviews. I needed to have a document notarized (see my forthcoming review for Sprint's craptastic fraud investigation process), and after seeing the reviews on yelp, I found myself at The Mailbox for this service. Service was prompt, friendly, and professional, and several people came in who were clearly regulars to the business. Since I started this review, I've been back a couple of times to send things via UPS, and had excellent experiences both times. One time they actually told me that I could mail my package MUCH cheaper (like $12 cheaper) by just using media mail at the USPS (the Dimond substation is right around the corner from them) if I wasn't on a strict timeline. Pretty awesome. Friendly and local is always tops in my book! read more

I loved the father and daughter who work here. They are extremely helpful, friendly, and I loved speaking with them whenever I stopped by. Whenever I needed to fax something off, ship something (better than the post office people around the corner, in my opinion), make copies, or even get something notarized, I came here. Lots of mailing supplies, great UPS shipping services, and more - go here to take of your business with excellent service!! read more

Just as good as so many others have said. Because of my experiences elsewhere and comments on Yelp, I went The Mailbox to send something via FedEx, rather than using one of the places closer to where I live in Berkeley (having occasion to be in the neighborhood anyway). They were helpful, pleasant, and efficient, and everything went perfectly. Most of my good retail experiences don't get posted on Yelp, but since I realize this is probably now the place I'll be going when I need to send something via FedEx or UPS, I want to add my voice to the others that are recommending it. read more

This is my goto place for notary service, even though I bank at Wells Fargo and they offer free notary services. Unfortunately WF doesn't have a notary in the Dimond branch. At the Mailbox they are always friendly and prompt. read more

Fabulous store. Great fast service and they send packages for both UPS and Fed Ex. The woman who works here is soooooo nice. Honestly probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. It's always a quick easy delightful time coming here. read more

Lots of great reviews here, wish I could leave one myself. The hours are stated online and posted on the door, 9-5 for weekdays. Well folks, it's 9 am and there isn't a soul inside of the building. It's Monday morning and we all have work to do. Unprofessional in my eyes. read more

This place is as amazing as all the other reviewers have said. I am so glad I found them. I sent three packages today. Two returns to Amazon and one to a friend. The staff helped me fix my boxes, pick a mailing class and were so pleasant and friendly. Wil definitely be back. They also make custom packing boxes, so I definitely know where I will be shipping my Christmas presents form this year. read more

The staff is very nice & very helpful. Line doesn't always move quickly, but they genuinely want to help you send your package & get the rate and other information you need. read more

Wow they are so friendly and fast here. Love the daughter she is so nice. They help me look up addresses when I forget to bring them. Today I carried in a giant box and my baby, and realized I forgot the address. They let me leave the box there all afternoon so as to not have to take it back to my car. I completed the transaction by phone. Love it! read more

The local owners, a family, are always friendly, helpful, calm and go the extra mile when you need something that's a little complicated. I always choose to come here for any mailing, scanning, faxing needs because I like and want to support them. read more

I don't think I've ever encountered a warmer or friendlier person than Jean. A new bar has been set for customer service standards! Plus they have cardboard mailing tubes. I mean why go anywhere else, ever? read more

I drove to The Mailbox to get my document notarized but saw a Bank of America located right across the street. I stopped by to see if they'd do it for me for free but was informed that their location doesn't provide notary service. Oh well, I guess I had to go to The Mailbox and pay to have my document notarized. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Jean. She was extremely friendly and nice. She spent a good amount of time with the notary process, unlike most places where they'll just stamp and date it without even reading your document. I was impressed with her work as she was very thorough and made sure at the end that she didn't miss anything before accepting the payment ($10 per signature) for her work. Considering that it is $10 per signature everywhere you go, why go anywhere else? read more

This shop has the BEST service- maybe on the planet! Super helpful, all types of delivery and processing of your returns to Amazon etc, with even a helpful hint when you need to return something to the USPS/ post office- there's one around the corner. Other services include Notary, computer use, and passport photos. Great "secret" parking lot behind the building. The owner is such a sweetie and her staff is great too. read more

Went to get some legal papers notarized, in this time of the Covid-19 virus, and the team at Mailbox on Fruitvale was great. Following safety protocols, very friendly, efficient, and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend them. read more

I rarely write Yelp reviews, but I felt like I owed it to this business after their help today. I cannot believe how far out of their way they went to help me out. I've dropped by The Mailbox a few times since they opened, mostly just to drop off packages for UPS pick up. When I needed some business cards for an upcoming trip, I thought I'd give them my business since it was close to my house. They were friendly and took my order and said the printer would have it ready for them in the next two days. After four days, I still hadn't heard anything, but they called me to let me know that they looking into my order. As it turned out, the order had fallen through on the printer's side through some clerical error. I asked if they could do anything for me since I was due to leave in a few days, and they said they would try. Soon after, they called back to say they'd found another printer who could take the order. They filled out the form themselves, sent it in, ensuring that it was as close to the order I had previously made as they could make it. They had the delivery rushed and-- unbelievably-- they offered to pick it up themselves tonight and bring it back to their store just so I'd have my order before my trip. I am blown away by this level of care and commitment. I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else for business cards or shipping in the future. read more

I was shocked by how helpful and pleasant the employees were, here! I went there to drop off some Amazon returns. Not long before this, I had gone directly to UPS, for the same purpose. I bring this up because the difference between the two experiences was like night and day, and also because I wouldn't have even known how much to appreciate some of the great perks of my experience at The Mailbox, if I didn't have the recent trip to the UPS store to compare it to. The employees at The Mailbox were as helpful as they could possibly have been. As it turned out, the way I'd done one of the returns was a bit of a problem, but one of the guys immediately helped me to go online and fix it. No problem, no stress -- job done, and five-star review amply deserved! Throughout, the two men who were working that day were as pleasant, helpful, and professional as anyone could wish. One "little" thing that I want to mention about the store itself, which I think says a lot about the thoughtfulness and customer-service orientation of The Mailbox, is the station they've set up so that if a customer wants to photograph their package to show that they sent it from that location, it's all set up for them. When I had asked if I could do the same thing at the UPS store, I was told in somewhat hostile terms that there was no way I would be allowed to take any photograph, anywhere on or around the premises! So when I learned that The Mailbox not only allows such helpful photographs, but they have even set up a convenient place for that purpose, I couldn't but feel a lot of extra appreciation for that kind of thoughtful touch. Great employees, thoughtful touches. Oh, and easy parking, too, in the lot behind the store. What more could a person ask for? read more

Jean is the best! Great customer service! I've been coming to the mail box for over 3 years now and I'm very grateful for their services! Thank you jean! read more

I've had a mailbox here for many years and they have always been very nice, but after the owner retired his daughter took over and she is unreasonably strict. For example, when my wife started getting mail at my mailbox, she put her through an incredibly huge hassle filling out notarized forms and faxing them from Europe, and when I paid with a credit card (like I had been doing for years) she made a big hassle out of that. It seems like she is just looking for excuses to make things difficult. I will probably end up closing the mailbox because the owner is so difficult to work with. read more

Customer service--and just plain friendliness--goes SUCH a long way these days. I rarely write Yelp reviews, but this experience warrants one. Jean is so incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seems to enjoy her work and her interactions with customers. I read other reviews saying she goes out of her way to go the extra mile, and I experienced that as well when she helped me find a way to reduce the cost of something I was shipping. What business goes out of their way to take less of your money?? I watched her interact with a few people who seemed to be "regulars" and was so impressed to see the kindness with which she treats everyone. I'm so glad I found this place. I'll never go up the hill to Montclair's UPS store ever, ever again. read more

Have dropped many packages here for ups pickup. Also, have used their notary service. Mom and Pop operation so there may be aspects that a bigger store would do better but I haven't run into that issue. This is a fantastic store for us local to the Dimond but probably wouldn't make sense to drive across town for. They are also a Dimond original. Our neighborhood has had some great changes in the last few years but these guys have been here all along servicing the local community. read more

when i found myself having to find a quick, convenient east bay fedex drop-off, i did a quick search on fedex and found that the closest spot was the mailbox on fruitvale. when i walked in, a very friendly gentleman greeted me even though he was in the middle of a transaction with another customer. at that hello, another clerk came right up and asked how she could help. so friendly ! i purchased what i needed, and even though the place filled up with customers in the next thirty seconds, i was rung up, thanked and given all the supplies (free tape for sealing the item!) i needed to wrap it up. i was out of there in less than 3 minutes. at the regular place in the city, it takes at least five, even if i'm the only customer. love it ! let's hope all goes well with the fedex pickup. read more

Underwhelmed. After reading so many good reviews I decided to drive a little out of my way to ship my package. Perhaps my expectations were unfairly elevated by the numerous positive reviews but I have to say, what I read on here was not the experience I had. Though the two young people working were certainly courteous, upon my entry into the store there were visibly noticeable "it's friday afternoon and the last thing we want to do is help box up that painting" vibes being sent my way. Thus, the first mistake I made I realize was that I did not bring my item already boxed and ready for shipment. The gal took one look at it and said "the only guy who could box that for you is out until next week and it would be very expensive". I then explained that I didn't think it would be cheap (3' x 3' framed art, no glass) and asked if there was any way I could still get an estimate without said "guy". The girl kept saying it would be "very expensive" and finally (with encouragement) offered to look up the shipping cost. She came back and said, "Yes as I said, it would be well over $200. Plus an additional $75 and up to box it for you". I then explained that was quite higher than what I had been previously quoted ($55 for shipping alone by UPS) and she just responded confidently, "Well like I told you, I thought it would be very expensive". Alright guys, I get it. It's expensive! End scene. Needless to say I ended up having the art custom packaged a mile away from my house for $35. I now plan on shipping it from my local UPS where I guess I should have started. :/ read more

Super sweet, lots of services (key cutting, PO Boxes, faxing, boxes, etc) and efficient.

The woman that works at the front desk is very nice, friendly and helpful every time I come in to check my mailbox. I went today to pick up a package I've been waited for but they have a sign posted saying they're closed because they don't have power, but no sign of when they will open again. Even though there's no power they should still be open people still need their mail/packages regardless. read more

I came here to get a document notarized for the DMV she seemed really nice but when it comes time to check my id she's giving me a hassle asking me to smile and turn my head WTF. I get she says identifying the person is the most important part of the notarizing process is what she said but really turning my head and smiling like how I did in the pic. That's ridiculous she says I don't have on makeup in the pic but I did In person seriously I was super annoyed! Other than that it was cheap so whatever. This review started at 2 stars because she was so freaking annoying but I moved it up since that was the only issue I had mind you she had already checked the book and compared my id to make sure it was a real Nevada state id and valid how hard is it to match a photo read more

I have to take some stars off of this place. I usually come here with no problems for my UPS drop-offs. This time, I had quite a few number of packages. I don't have top of the line printer, so the UPS label doesn't come out as clearly sometimes. It won't scan, but was still readable. When I asked the owner how the problem could be fixed, he turned into a hissy-fit drama queen. From saying: "too many packages," "no money," "the UPS will come and kick your packages," to accusing me that "you have a problem" to "you are the must persistent person ever." Far from no nonsense. He did mention that "1 or 2" is okay, as they'd have to manually type it in. Despite all this, the thing that broke the camel's back is that they just flat-out refused to take the packages. I even offered to type it in. I took my packages to a nearby UPS store with no problems at all. So I wonder what they did differently or they just did the work that was required. I guess the lazy old man has seen better days. read more
