Many Inn keepers make you feel at home, but Tom and Carol make you truly feel like family. As I said before my wife and I stay at a lot of B&B's. We never stay in the same place more than once. We love to experience a new place each time. But this is our third stay here on our 10 day vacation in the UP. We kept coming back because we seriously missed this place, Tom, Carol, and of course Zeke their super well behaved and friendly dog. There is so much more here than just their beautiful home, the calming awe of their land, their incredibly friendly sheep, the acres and acres of trails they have on their land, the nice added touch of the sauna on the back porch, the wide open sky perfect for star gazing you usually get from the UP combine with being on a large acred farm, and of course Zeke! Carol and Tom are the heart and soul of this place. They are what make this house, a home. I could go on and on about how much we valued our stay. But like I said, I can not express enough how great this place is. To give you an idea of how much we love this place, my wife and I drove from Eagle Harbor to stay here one more night. Staying here will be one of the best memories of your trip.

Although I had not visited when the previous owners ran it, the current owner clearly cares about the Inn and the experience it provides for its visitors. The historic nature of the building includes what you might expect: beautiful solid wood finishes, slightly creaky floors, enormous original windows, nooks and niches. It's clean and there are decisive design updates (period-correct wallpapers, lace curtains). The restaurant was great and a step up from the also delicious but more classic corner dining experiences in the area. We plan to return and look forward to the Inn's continual evolution and warm hospitality as we explore Michigan's incredible Upper Peninsula.

I would call ahead and make reservations because they do get very busy and the restaurant isn't very big. Also, you cannot book a table/walk-in after 8:30 because they close at 10. Walking up, the house is beautiful and has a front wrap around porch facing Lake Manistique. Porch dining is available in warmer months, or you can wait outside when it's busy and enjoy the porch swing with beautiful views. You can also stay at the Inn, which I will look into next trip! First night we came, I ordered the Cajun Whitefish. Very delicious! I also tried the stuffed whitefish my friend ordered and I liked it more. I also tried the French onion soup, and we got the Brie appetizer. Second night we came back, I tried the Michigan Cherry Pork chops and my friend tried the Coconut Jumbo Shrimp. We started off with the garlic cheese bread topped with fresh made bruschetta. I also ordered the clam chowder as the soup dujour. Everything was fantastic! The pace of meal was great, views are beautiful and the staff and owners are all friendly. We enjoyed our trip up the UP and will definitely be back on our next visit.

Pros - Super quaint. Everything is antique-like, from the room decor settings to the breakfast china. Not in an old way however. It felt like we were in an English or French B&B. - We stayed in the Suite room, which had a large sitting room and old claw-foot bathtub. Would recommend that if it's available, but all the rooms looked nice. - Lots of lounging room around the house... sunroom, library, etc. - Location is great. 1 hour to Munising, Grand Marais, St Ignace, etc. Great for day tripping. - Breakfast is really good. The hosts are great. Prices are reasonable (noted on their website). The whole house and grounds are super pretty. Potential Cons - No Wifi at the moment, and AT&T coverage is bad. But you're in the UP, you didn't come here to look at your laptop, did you? - They don't take CCs, so bring cash or check to pay. - Mostly 2-prong outlets, so bring a converter if you need it. The home is very comfortable, cozy and rustic like a cabin. It was nice to have our own bath and bedroom and perfect for 2 couples. The breakfast was fabulous and like the previous reviewer said they had made some cookies and told us to make ourselves at home! It was certainly a delight to stay here and we would highly recommend that anyone staying on the Island considers staying here! Its central location makes it easy to walk to several great restaurants nearby, which is a big plus. Also the views of the lake are spectacular, on the night we were there we were able to view the fireworks from our porch. The hospitality here is always warm and genuine, and the rooms in the hotel section are consistently clean and comfortable. While we haven't stayed in the B&B portion yet, we've had a chance to see inside--and it's absolutely beautiful. Looking forward to another visit soon!
