The informative and helpful lady working there explained everything about what they do and how they do it. Made out of tough material better than any over priced Polo, Nautica or Tommy Hilfig whats his name. This stuff will hold up to some heavy duty elements cause this is the real boat sail material wears like iron even used. So lots of nautical themed items of jackets, back packs, duffels, all with boat numbers on them. Cool stuff a little costly but worth it for the quality that they have. So it's A-OK with me.

However, twice in two weeks I've come to the JosA Banks in Annapolis to spend some money, needing to replace some dress shirts and have a suit or two done. The first time I was in the store for 45 min and not once did anyone ask to assist. So I split buying a suit elsewhere with excellent customer service. Today I made an appointment for custom tailoring. Arrived early and was perusing the fabrics on the custom wall, with two employees 3'-4' away and zero interest in me as a customer. Make a long story short, no one seemed to be too excited to take my measurements or my order after I announced I was there for an appointment. So I walked out. No use in wasting any more of my time if my appointment is important. It's sad because it used to be when you walked into a JosA Banks the staff was on you with a great demeanor the second you walked in. With 6-7 people on staff, one would expect better.

I used to be more excited about this store so that tells me that I'm probably aging out of their target market or just too conservative. Nevertheless, they have nice brands here and the store displays are attractive. I did recently get a pretty blouse here that I can wear to my office job but most of the fashions were more trendy (cold shoulder blouses that taken me back to the late 80s/early 90s - no thanks) or high Maintenace (off the shoulder shirts that require a strapless bra). The staff here was really nice despite it being a few days before Christmas and it seemingly like they were totally exhausted. I think I would visit SMU if parking was easier and it was more central to other stores I like to visit like Anthropologie and Smyth.

To differentiate between the two locations they are calling the downtown Annapolis store The Cottage on Main and the Severna Park store The Cottage in The Park. The inventory between the two stores seems very similar. I can almost always find something to buy at this great local, small business. Here are some of my most recent finds: - Avanti greeting cards often featuring funny animals. They are the best! - Keva leather jewelry. It's light and so comfortable to wear. - Farmhouse Fresh lotions and soaps. Great quality and not overbearing scents. - Hobo purses and wallets. Awesome colors, practical designs and yummy leather. - A variety of thoughtful and sweet baby gifts. Lots of pretty prints. - Boho bandeaus. I really like these for working out in the yard. - Rifle Paper Co. stemless drinking glasses. Seems great for anything. - Although not personally a favorite of mine, popular brands like Vera Bradley, Kendra Scott and Swig. Since this location is in downtown Annapolis parking is a consideratoin. On an early weekday morning you might be able to grab a metered spot our front. The Noah Hillman Parking Garage is nearby too. Or you can always drive 15 minutes to the Severna Park location where parking is plentiful. Overall, The Cottage on Main is a great addition to downtown Annapolis.
