It's been a long time since I was in the Annapolis JosA Banks. A lot of money for a horribly altered suit will do that to a person. However, twice in two weeks I've come to the JosA Banks in Annapolis to spend some money, needing to replace some dress shirts and have a suit or two done. The first time I was in the store for 45 min and not once did anyone ask to assist. So I split buying a suit elsewhere with excellent customer service. Today I made an appointment for custom tailoring. Arrived early and was perusing the fabrics on the custom wall, with two employees 3'-4' away and zero interest in me as a customer. Make a long story short, no one seemed to be too excited to take my measurements or my order after I announced I was there for an appointment. So I walked out. No use in wasting any more of my time if my appointment is important. It's sad because it used to be when you walked into a JosA Banks the staff was on you with a great demeanor the second you walked in. With 6-7 people on staff, one would expect better. read more

We ordered my husband a suit last week. They didn't have his common size in stock so we paid extra for a rush order. Over due by more than 3 days. Called again and was told the suit is in. I was told they left a voicemail. When researched they had left the voicemail on an unrelated number. At the time of ordering we were very specific setting up a new account with two phone numbers. They agreed to refund the charge but now can't/won't do alterations in time for the event. Said no without even knowing what needed to be done. I would only recommend buying from them more than a month out IF you buy something in stock. read more

Terrible service by people who definitely are not on commission. One of them didn't even understand what product I was asking about. They do have poor value products. Looking for good clothes sold by informed, interested employees? Not here. I have purchased four Reserve suits. They are expensive ($1200 range) but I have been satisfied with the cloth and the performance. When I entered this store, the first salesman, who seemed to be having a conniption fit because there were four customers in the store, asked me my size. I mentioned he could look it up: when you buy a Reserve suit, they keep your measurements on file. He had no idea what I was talking about. Guess he's only trained to sell the overpriced "sale" shirts to the rubes. When I pointed out the Reserve section, he made a ridiculously loud, "Oh, you want somethin' special." He turned away from me without telling me what he was going to do, but I followed him and saw he was telling the manager I was looking for a "special" suit. The manager came over and acted like I was annoying him. He explained how Reserve suits are sold, so I guess he thought I had forgotten since the last time, since I showed him the Reserve label in the suit I was wearing at that very moment. I told him I was looking for something in a herringbone black, midrange, but let's see what they have. He went to the swatches and speedily went through them, basically tossing them on the table and telling me to find something. He then WALKED AWAY to help someone else. I found two swatches, at the upper price end (5) I might add, and he looked one of them up on the computer, and told me it was not available. Frankly, I don't believe him, but what can you do? I showed him another swatch, but instead of taking it he turned to another customer. They were really pushing those overpriced "sale" dress shirts. Jos. A. Bank is now an outlet store for cheap off-the-rack suits and cheaper (quality, not price) accessories. Kind of like an upscale Walmart men's department, but at Walmart you might find a helpful employee. I walked out, thinking ol' Joe Bank is spinning in his grave. read more

The first time we came had an excellent experience the staff was very nice and helpful with helping me pick out a suit. But then when we came the second time it was very very dusty in the changing rooms and I had to leave because I was hacking up a storm. Also the young gentleman with long hair is quite rude at times. these were the least helpful associates I have ever worked with. we came to get fitted for my finances suit for our wedding, they measured every element of him wrong and it turned into me running around the store chasing my 1yr old screaming son while trying to grab different sizes and fits for him to try on while the associate was meandering around the store pulling out the wrong sizes and shirts. the process could have taken 20 minutes if done correctly, instead turned into an hour and walking out empty handed. eventually we landed on a suit we liked, but out of principal, I will absolutely not purchase from this place. we'll find a suit elsewhere. read more

Honestly, just a terrible time. Went in for a wedding. They didn't have the pants I saw online in stock and tried to charge me double from what their own website said. I asked for a price match and they did. The groom ordered a custom vest and the inside of the vest was completely wrong and they did not get the replacement in time for his wedding. The customer service wasn't too great. Wasn't greeted or acknowledged that they would help us but eventually did. No sense of urgency that my buddies wedding was in 24 hours at one point. It was a stressful experience. I think his name is Julian and he kept it real at least. They did tailor my pants in time for the wedding but charged a ton for special alterations. I would have took them somewhere else but couldn't due to the time constraint. Would not go back or recommend. read more

Nordstrom appreciates your salty, disrespectful employees. I went in and was greeted by employee #1. He was as nice as one would expect. I made my way to the back of the store past the two other employees. On my way back to the front door employee #2 politely asked if he could help me find anything. I asked if they had a light raincoat I could wear over my suit. His colleague, employee #3 literally laughed and said, "I can't remember the last time someone asked for a raincoat. We don't carry raincoats. Go down to Nordstrom, they might have what you're looking for." He then proceeded to laugh and continue to mock me as I walked out. I happily spent my money at Nordstrom and didn't even get a raincoat. I will continue to go out of my way to avoid having to shop at this store. read more

I have been shopping at this store for years but after my last experience buying a suit, I will not be returning. Terrible customer service and unprofessional associates. I was not happy with the tailoring of the jacket and when I told them they said I gained weight in the three weeks since the fitting (I did not). I asked them to make adjustments, which they were happy to do for an additional charge and two weeks. The suit still doesn't fit right and I feel like I wasted $700+. read more

We finally went to the right place, we were at the location in Parole/ Annapolis. We were able to rent a beautiful fitting prom suit for my very slender son. Always a struggle with his waist! We were really thankful for Mr. Sam's and also Mr. Rondell's (sorry if the name is misspelled) help and assistance! I had my wedding clothed by Jos A Bank. Marquis is awesome, everything he measured fit to perfection. Unfortunately, those who got measured by anyone else had major issues. It's apparent they have one young man who knows exactly what he's doing, and the rest are there to sell and don't know how to fit, enter the measurements into the computer, or call someone when their clothing is available. I need an updated work wardrobe, but there is no way I can go to work with everything that ill-tailored, but that's how I'll be attending my wedding. Should make for some interesting photos after every vendor came through except for this one. Save time, save frustration, and find reviews where a company knows how to fit, or get Marquis' schedule... he will make a great store GM one day should he choose to take that path. read more

Just have to give a shout-out to Herb... I had picked out holiday shirts for my stepdad and bio dad, and he told me about the long-sleeved silk polos that were on sale that day ($27 each as opposed to the more expensive shirts I had selected). I had Squeaker with me, and the staff was very friendly with her! She wanted to help Nate fold the ties. Like other Bank stores, there is a large selection, but the clothing racks and displays are kind of crammed together. read more

Worst tailor ever. I bought four suits earlier this year (2017) and they all are literally falling apart at the seams. I've had to have my dry cleaner fix every one of them. One suit never fit right in the first place and despite going back to have it tailored again, it still fits terribly. This store used to be good, but something happened. Never going back. read more

I am a long time Jos Banks customer and have a closet full of their shirts and jackets to prove it. Today I was in need of a new suit. The store seemed quite busy so I waited my turn to be assisted. After a 20 minutes a pleasant clerk came and asked if I needed help and I let him know that I was looking for a suit. He informed me that he was assisting another customer but would be with me "shortly". Another 20 minutes later he came back and then showed me what was available in my size. With a limited selection in my size it didn't take me long to pick out a suit that I liked. I then waited to deal with being fitted. After another 25-30 minutes of no assistance and watching others being helped that came into the store after me, it became apparent to me that my $500 purchase was a nuisance. Not interested in making a scene, I hung the suit up and walked out of the store keeping my $500 to spend elsewhere. read more

Waste of time. Came two weeks ago to buy a suit for a wedding, driving an hour and a half to the location. Get there, tell them what I'm looking for and they tell me to buy it online. Once I get it, they will tailored it for me. No charge. Asked if I should buy the shirt or any accessories, they said no not until I get the suit. Walked outside of the store and bought the suit online. Brought it in, they did the measurements and wanted to charge me almost $200 in tailoring. Worse experience I've had at a suit shop. read more

When my fiancee and I first went in to look for suits for myself and the groomsmen we were blown away by one of the managers, David. He was incredibly helpful and picked out the perfect suit right off the bat. He gave us a great group price and told us to just have the groomsmen call in and give their sizes to have the suits ordered. Our order was maintained in a handwritten binder and we were told that all orders had to come through that store "to avoid confusion". Why this is not computerized and on a common system to all Jos A Bank's by now is beyond me. This lead to multiple issues with the ordering. One by one my groomsmen called in and were asked to provide their credit card information in order to have the suit ordered and were asked which store they wanted the suit shipped to. The first issue came when my best man called and put in his order, and after three weeks (after being told it would take two max) he still had not been notified that his suit was in. I had gone in for my final fitting and asked the salesman to check on his order. The salesman offered to call my best man and get everything sorted out. Once again the sales staff was very nice. However, due to the handwritten ordering, the issue turned out to be incorrectly writing down my best man's billing address. This meant that the sale did not go through and the suit was never ordered. I would really have hoped that when the credit card did not go through Jos A Bank would call and resolve the issue. Instead they did not call and just let the order never get processed. If my best man had not said anything, his suit would never have arrived. Strike one. The next issue I had was when I went in to get measured for my final fitting/tailoring, I was told that it would be ready within two weeks and that they would call me when it was ready. Two weeks came and went and I never received a call. I finally called and asked if my suit was ready and turns out it was. Again, it seems as though Jos A Bank was prepared to just let my suit sit there and never pick up the phone. Strike two. Th next issue was the same as the first. Another of my groomsmen had his credit card number incorrectly copied down and his suit was never ordered. Again after three weeks of waiting and not being notified, when he called he was informed that the credit card number did not work so the suit was never ordered. Strike three. At this point I had decided that I would not use Jos A Bank again, and thought at least I was done with the problems. Come to find out, my groomsmen who lives in Seattle had his suit delivered to the Annapolis store for when he got to town. He called a week ahead to notify the store that he would be in the following week and would need to be measured for tailoring and have his suit tailored by the end of that week. He was assured that it would not be a problem and everything would be done on schedule. When he went to the store to get measured for the tailoring the store told him that the tailor was on vacation that week, meaning it wasn't possible to have it tailored. Strike four. Aside from the pleasant experience with David, overall shopping at this store was nothing but a nightmare. Much of the headache could have been resolved if the store would come in to the digital age and have their reservations on the computer that could be accessed by all stores. This would have avoided the issues with suits not being ordered. As for not calling when the suit was ready, and more importantly assuring that the tailor would be ready to finish a suit in a time crunch and failing to mention that the tailor was on vacation that week, these are simply unprofessional, inexcusable actions. I would not recommend using Jos A Bank for wedding suits other than for price. read more

We started at the store in Easton, MD. We ordered 5 suits for our wedding. We were told multiple times they are guaranteed to be in the store 2 days prior to our wedding. Then the Easton store closed. We were told we would have to go to the Annapolis store to try them on and pick them up. We live an hour away. On the Thursday before the wedding all the suits were in except my son's. I was told if I called and paid over the phone they would ship it to my house and it would be there Friday. The day before the wedding. I called the 800 number and paid for the suit and was told it would not ship out until Friday meaning it would not get to me until Saturday, the day of the wedding! When I told Chanel that was not acceptable and asked to speak with a manager she said she could put a request in for a call back and that it would take 72 hours. 72 hours!!!?!? My wedding will be over in 72 hours! I call Quentin back in the Annapolis store, who I have spoken to multiple times, and he informed me they are 860 suits behind and there was nothing he could do. I told him that sounded like a company problem not my problem and I was "guaranteed" the suit would be there 2 days before! I also informed him we had placed this order months in advance we didn't just come in last week. Why is this my problem? And what good is a guarantee if there isn't any compensation when the guarantee is not met?? Quentin told me when we came in he could pull a suit off the rack so my son would have something to wear. I asked if it would match and he said he couldn't guarantee it would match but he would do his best. So why would I want my son to be standing with 4 other people in a different suit??? There was no acceptable answer, no resolution and at this rate I would expect more stores to be closing because you can bet your ass this is my first and last experience with Jos A Banks. read more

I would not recommend renting a tux here. We went in more than a month before prom, they took our son's measurements, and the tux came in 2 days before prom. He tried it on and the pants were way too small around the hips; they ordered another pair, which had to be overnighted and arrived the afternoon of the prom. Those were too small, too. The salespeople were no help whatsoever; said there was nothing to be done because they don't keep the tuxedos on site, and did not offer any refund. So he is wearing a pair of his own black slacks with the tux jacket on his prom night, and we are extremely disappointed. Stay away. read more
