a plate of food

We came here for dinner tonight. The choices were slim. There were hardly any meats to pick from. The food appeared to have sat for hours. I fixed one plate. Everything I picked up was disgusting and tasted old. I told my husband I wasn't willing to pay $50 for old cafeteria food. My husband had to flag down our waiter and let him know we were disappointed. Apparently there wasn't a manager on duty tonight, so our waiter had to handle everything. He did the best he could, but it was obvious he didn't have the support he needed from management. The cashier who was supposed to handle our refund continued ringing up customers as they were coming in, instead of refunding us. We waited at our table 20-30 minutes for a refund. Finally, the waiter admitted that nothing was going to be done soon, and that we should just get in line with the incoming customers if we wanted a refund. The cashier's line was long. She refused to acknowledge us. Luckily, a gentleman was nice enough to let us in front of him so we could get our refund handled. We got our money back for both meals and left. Don't waste your time or money here.

Cesar salads are big! My husband and I could have shared. Very good though. Would love some large chunks for Parmesan on here, would add to it. Entrees we ordered their boneless ribeye with broccolini and Cabernet sauce. The sauce I could drink, was so good! My husband ordered their dry aged large bone ribeye, was a bit too tender for either of us. He did like the lobster Mac which he ordered for the side Dessert was their lemon cake. Not to sweet but had a zing to it. Was okay.

We visit Three Fires Steakhouse for special occasions. We were celebrating our anniversary and…read morelooking forward to fine dining. Arrived at 6pm, ordered cocktails and reviewed the menu. Placed our order by 6:10pm, then waited 45 minutes for our main entrees. My husband's 12 oz NY strip steak, which included shallot for $54, was room temperature when served. There was no shallot on his plate. He mentioned the temperature to the waitstaff. At least the side of mashed potatoes for $9 was warm. Because I didn't like the non-beef choices on the menu, I ordered a Sunflower salad, the jumbo shrimp cocktail and crab cakes which are listed as starters but I asked for them as my main entree. I received my salad within a reasonable amount of time, but waited the 45 minutes for my main entree to be delivered. I always laugh when Kansas menus say "jumbo" in their description of a shrimp cocktail, but the shrimp on this cocktail were indeed jumbo. They were large enough to make any shrimper, from the south Texas coastline, proud. The crabcakes were tasty and served hot. My guess is that my husband's steak sat for a long time before my crabcakes were cooked. We believe the issue of delayed service was due to a very large group being served in the dining room to the east of the Three Fires main dining room. Our waitstaff was also waitstaff for the group in this dining room. Consequently, all of the attention went to this group and only occasionally to our table. We watched as food was carried from the open kitchen into the secondary dining room. We waited for our food to be served and never received an offer to replenish our water glasses. My husband requested coffee, but it was never served. We finished our meals and waited 25+ minutes for anyone to notice. When the waitress brought the bill she remembered the coffee. My husband told her to forget the coffee and asked for boxes for our leftovers. When my husband requested the to-go boxes, our waitress remembered that I had said I would be ordering dessert when she first greeted us at our table. She asked me what dessert I wanted. I told her to forget it, we were ready to leave. When she returned with the boxes, she offered warm bread pudding to-go "since it was our anniversary." We said sure, but I am fairly certain that it was her attempt to minimize the lackluster service. She left our bill at the table before bringing the to-go boxes or our "complimentary" bread pudding. There was no itemized coffee or dessert on the bill which obviously had been printed before she remembered the coffee or to ask for the dessert. We won't be back ~ at least for quite a long time. Food quality was poor in comparison to previous visits. The smell of cigarette smoke permeated the dining room. Service was good but unacceptable slow for a great dining experience. They were unprepared for serving the main restaurant along with the large group in the second dining room. For a Friday evening between 6pm and 7:30pm, there were many empty tables. Perhaps now we know why.

Golden Wok - Hibachi

4 Stars Golden Wok is a great choice for families,…read moreespecially if you're dining with kids and want good food at a reasonable price. Adults are $17.99, kids 10 years old are $8.50, and 3‑year‑olds are $5.00, which makes it a big win for parents feeding the whole family. There's plenty of variety, so everyone can find something they like, even picky eaters. The hibachi is amazing--fresh, flavorful, and fun to watch, which keeps kids entertained while food is being made. I wouldn't recommend the sushi since it's imitation seafood, but with so many other options, it's easy to skip and still be very satisfied. From a parent's point of view, this place works well. Service was fast and friendly, food was constantly being refilled, and we didn't feel rushed. The restaurant was clean, tables were cleared quickly, and the buffet stayed organized, which really matters when you're dining with kids. If you're looking for a place where kids eat well, adults enjoy the food, and the bill doesn't hurt, Golden Wok is a solid, stress‑free option. We left full, happy, and satisfied, and it's definitely a place we'd bring the family back to.

What a strange little place. I have never been one to…read morefrequent casinos, and I have yet to understand their appeal but after a day of wandering backroads in NE Kansas on a Sunday drive, I found myself venturing into my first tribal casino. Upon arrival I showed my ID, created a PIN and was then given a players card with $25 free. OK. That's either great hospitality or clever marketing. I wandered around the small gaming room and looked for a machine that didn't look to complicated and proceeded in trying to strike it rich. After 15 minutes of neither winning nor losing significant amounts of money, I knew it was time to find a noisier and flashier machine with bigger wagers and go big or go home. With $20 still on my card, I found a $5 machine and in 4 punches it was gone. I took my 2 cash-out vouchers and redeemed my 83 cents and called it a victory. What I found most disappointing in the White Cloud Casino besides the cigarette smoke, and the overwhelming sense of meaninglessness and doom was the total lack of uniqueness. Other than the animal drawings on the outside of the building, there was no connection to the Iowa Tribe. I was hoping for some artwork, traditional food, a gift shop that sold crafts, I would have loved to bought an Iowa Tribe replica license plate that I saw in the parking lot or learned a bit of tribal history or culture; but not here and not today. Sometimes 83 cents is the most that you can expect.
