Visited for a swim meet. As a swim meet spectator, I really appreciated this was an indoor facility especially since it was a cold & rainy weekend. If you're visiting for an event, pack folding chairs. There's 3 rows of bleachers on the second floor overlooking the Olympic size pool. While the bleachers span the length of the pool, space can be limited depending on the size of the event you're attending. Behind the bleachers, there's plenty of extra room to set up "camp" with your group. The family next to me sat on the bleachers for Day 1 but after a 5-6hr+ day on the hard bleachers, they opted to bring folding chairs for Day 2's events. There's restrooms on the 2nd floor which is really convenient for spectators. Overflow parking is next door at the Salvation Army. read more

I've had the pleasure of volunteering as a swim official at The Long Center over the past several years. It is a City of Clearwater Rec Center best known for its 50 meter pool and cool glass enclosure. Entry requires a membership, guest pass may be available. They have more than just the pool such as a few courts. However the draw is events for the swimming pool. The eight lane Olympic size 50 meter long course competition pool is very nice. There is no diving. A small warm up cool down pool is adjacent. The pool can adjust to short course providing more than twice the capacity. The facility is well maintained. The drawback to the complex is spectator seating which is in short supply. Hopefully I will return to the Long Center, however I have no plans to do so in 2020-2021. read more

Long Center - a recreation center operated by City of Clearwater for its residents and visitors is known for its aquatic complex with Olympic sized pool, Recreation complex with gyms and its fitness programs. Of course, visitors will pay a higher fee than the local residents. The pool is amazing. Workout, training, and aquatic classes are the norm here. Basket and volleyball, pickle-ball courts are available but if you want outside activities, there is outdoor soccer fields or improve your aim with archery. You can brush up your dancing skill or stretching with Yoga or training with martial art. They have every kind of class you can think of. They even hosted the Sunrise Table Tennis Club here! Ample parking space surrounding the building. The facility is clean and above all, the staff are friendly and accommodating! The activity fee is reasonable and well run! What a disappointment! After moving to Clearwater and jumping through numerous hoops to provide proof of residency I was told that I'd have to pay twice the normal amount to join, because my Clearwater address is in the county/an unincorporated area. I'm never giving my money to an organization that treats me like second class citizen because of some ridiculous arbitrary "rule". The person I spoke to was obviously not empowered to help me, and I left a message for Richard the facility manager but did not receive a call back. Learn from my mistake and don't waste your time with the Long Center! I went to the public pool in Dunedin and was treated with kindness and respect. Buying a pool pass tomorrow! read more

I love the Long Center. If you are looking for a low key place to workout and swim, then the Long Center is for you. The annual rates cannot be beat and the pool is Olympic sized and always the perfect cool temperature vs too hot indoor pools. Yuck. It's clean and the staff is friendly. This review is really just for the field out front. I have not been inside of The Long Center. I have only been to several flag football games there (which are on the soccer fields out front). My students play flag football here. There are not bleachers or stands, but you can park all around the field. So, it is easy to back in a car and hang out if you wish. The field is really nice and well taken care of. Parking can be a little tricky when there are a lot of teams playing, but I have managed to find a space so far. Overall, it is a nice central location with a great field. I like having our games here. I would just recommend adding some seating around the field. read more

Pool!! Pool! and more Pool!! When you walk in the smell of chlorine just makes you want to jump in! It looks very well maintained and clean, with long lanes. Very, very inviting. I believe they have swim meets here as well. And of course there's all kind of aquatics and swimming instruction classes. I've been here several times with my little one using the connecting playground called Limitless Sunshine, which is a cute and fitting name. We always had a great time and left tired. There is a soccer field that's next to it and we used just to run. Aaahhh such wonderful memories of my little one with her bright smile. This place was perfect for us and I'm glad I found it. I checked out the Long Center because she had to use the potty when we were at the playground, and was very impressed with all that it has to offer. I ended up going on a tour, but never joined for some reason which I can't remember. It's quite huge for a recreation center/gym. There seems to be every kind of class you can think of..probably even Irish dancing lol. If you are reading this review considering coming to the Long Center, you totally should!! The Long Center is practically perfect in every way- Mary Poppins would have approved. When I bring up to my local friends how I discovered this place FINALLY, they say, "Ah, the Long Center, I love that place!" I moved to Clearwater for a shorter commute to work, and because Largo and Seminole houses just weren't working out well for me. I had this sense that Clearwater was a nice deal, not too ritzy, not too hood. The truth is, access to the Long Center was that hidden "it" factor that makes living in Clearwater 110% better than any other city in Tampa Bay! Whether you invest in a regular Rec Card or Red Card Plus, you will reap in the benefits of this complex with great hours, classes, a fitness center, a smaller heated pool, and a larger Olympic-sized pool. Any questions? The employees will answer them. Want a noodle or kickboard? There are plenty to spare. Young or old, all are welcome to participate. Florida storms rolling in? Relax, the entire complex is roofed, including the pools. I mean, I am obsessed with this place. I can't stop talking about how much I love it and have rediscovered my old pastime of swimming because of it. The price can't be beat. I used to have a gym membership a few years ago. Since then I have returned periodically for exercise classes. I would be more likely to join, but although I live very close Im not within city limits so member fees are more expensive The gym itself is a pretty small area with a few basic machines and weights, I must say that could be improved a bit.There is a large indoor basketball court which is almost always in use with local group teams. The indoor pool and locker rooms are impressive too. The Zumba class is always a great time! Also a good place to take kids for swim lessons or to check out the on site playground If I could get the Clearwater city limit rate I'd definitely come back more. Recommended read more

This is a great place for swimmers. Olympic size pool for 25M and 50M. They have masters swim programs and kids programs and often hold swim meets. The employees are mostly nice, but sometimes this one lady at the front desk is grouchy and difficult. If you live in Clearwater, then you get a good deal on membership and passes. read more

The Long Center has one of the best playgrounds in the city. It's absolutely massive, with many different play structures that will accommodate a range of children. They have slides, monkey bars, swings (including a really nice seat-like infant swing), climbing walls, and an awesome music station. The entire playground is surrounded by a chain length fence and has latched gates to keep the children inside the enclosure. There is tons of parking all throughout the Long Center. It's also easily accessible by the PSTA bus line. They offer many classes for children, including programs for homeschool kids that take place in the early morning. Some of the classes are martial arts, swimming, archery, and a chess club. Very convenient! They offer both evening and weekend classes as well, plus special programs that happen at certain times throughout the year. read more

I live in St.. Pete and have only been to The Long Center once, for the TriKidsRock Swim, Run, Hurdle triathlon. I was blown away by the fabulous aquatics center. The facility is beautiful. I only wish it was closer to me! My kids had a great experience at the triathlon, taking advantage of the pool, the fields, and the surrounding area for the run. Parking was easy. read more

This review is just for the soccer fields. I've been playing here two summers now and was pleasantly surprised to see how good the condition of the fields were. They don't collect a lot of water like a lot of other fields in the area do even during the peak of rainy season. Less game cancellations is always a plus in my book! read more

I've been taking my granddaughter to swim lessons all summer. I look & observe every place I go. Today was about the last straw for me. 1st, as swim lessons are slowly moving along, there were about 8 kids free swimming directly in the way of the swim instructor. These kids were also blocking the way for an All Childrens swim teacher trying to teach her one special needs child. I've seen these same kids over & over all summer. Today I go to the Lifeguard to ask why these kids were in this area. She was sitting directly in front of them and I quote..."Oh, I didn't notice them". Scary since she's a lifeguard. She gets up and yells for them to move. They did for a short period. Both the All Childrens instructor and the mother of this child thanked me repeatedly for getting these other kids away from the students. Class is over and we're walking by the front desk. Unfortunately, one of the front desk women is so unbelievably rude, I've heard about her attitude many times from other parents. So, I didn't want to even stop to ask a question because I've also had to deal with her before. But, thinking that "today" she may be in a better mood (will never happen), I stopped. I asked her to write her name down after she was extremely rude to me when asking a basic question. Oh she wrote it, but her writing was sloppy. I will try to decipher her letters. Capria Murli.... She is a stocky, older woman with shorter greyish blonde hair. Never once has this woman even been close to polite. RUDE & INSULTING! I worked my entire life as a front desk, people friendly employee. I always loved my job interacting with people. The Long Center is a part of the City of Clearwater. I am appalled that this woman is allowed to represent my city. I will call her supervisor in the morning. And I promise I will complain until I get an answer as to why she sits in the public view.
