Typical bar food. But a bit more on the fancier side. The outside area looks amazing. But current weather (rain in the 40s) prevents me from hanging out there. Bartender was initially very attentive got me a drink right away. But got forgotten about and had to wave him over. It's easy and convenient if you are staying at the hotel. It's a pretty trendy place which matches the aesthetic of the main hotel. They have really good daily specials. The wings were cooked perfectly. Looking for a chill spot in the Irving Texas area then I suggest you give The Loft Restaurant and Bar a try. The restaurant and bar are located in a very modern style hotel named NYLO. The front desk personnel will direct you to the restaurant and bar area. If you check in on Yelp you can get a check in offer of 20% off food for lunch and dinner. We were there just for drinks so wasn't able to use the deal. Since it was so late the bar was basically the only thing open. We grabbed a seat towards the end of the bar. The bartender was kinda busy but she did acknowledge that we were there. I'm in love with barrel aged drinks so I ordered the Tres Agaves Orange/Grapefruit Old Fashioned drink. It was phenomenal so much so that I had to have another. My friend had a Campari Drink that he created. His was also good but I don't like gin so it was very dry to me. We had a good time and enjoyed the chill atmosphere. The restaurant and bar are located close to the pool area of the hotel. I would have love to sit outside and enjoy the cool Texas air but the pool was hopping and I wasn't try to fool around with that energy. My friend had a blast reading the Yelp reviews for this spot. So I came down for dinner and a drink since I'm staying in the hotel. I ordered a pineapple margarita (wasn't on the menu) but she made it and it was tasty. I interacted with 3 different staff/ bar tenders and all were very nice. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and chips and queso. The queso was ok.I made it better by adding lime juice from my margarita lime. The chips were good though. Tasted homemade. The candied Brussels sprouts were SO good! The hot honey on them and the crunch! Definitely recommend. I had another pineapple margarita by a different bar tender. Didn't taste the same as the first one, but it was actually better. I'm staying in this hotel so it gets an extra star for convenience. The Southern Chicken Sandwich was nothing to write home about but wasn't bad either. At $14 with fries it was a good deal. Where it goes south is the drink prices. I ordered Bulleit Rye on the rocks. Holy cow when I got the bill. $18 PER POUR!! I get that there should be an up charge but seriously, $18 for a low to mid grade Rye?!? It's highway robbery. Needless to say this is the last time I will dine in or grab a drink there. read more

Our experience was nice! They have holiday hours going on now- so we cane to happy hour a little early (originally 4-7, Monday-Friday). Got a Groupon to try it out! For drinks, S/O got a Mexican mule and I got a cranberry mule per my waiters recommendation. Both were lovely and strong! I got a margarita for the second drink, and that wasn't quite as strong. People were raving about the calamari...and rightfully so. Calamari is one of those dishes that is hard to mess up, and taste relatively the same everywhere, and I loved Loft's panko version! The sauces that came with it were good, too! We got crab cakes, and while they were good, we both didn't care for the extra fishy flavor and aioli on top. We shared an entree- the brisket burger with broccoli. This was so so good. The meat was a true medium, and we requested no cheese, and you wouldn't even need it because the meat is so flavorful! Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us appropriately. Forgot his name, but he was kind!! Sit near the bar area and you will not be forgotten. Four stars for the eh crab cakes and the price! Alrighty... So I just spent the night at NYLO a few days ago, and while I got in too late to take advantage of The Loft's dinner/appetizer menu, I did get a couple glasses of vino and was able to enjoy the atmosphere. Plus, I didn't sleep in too late to miss their breakfast! This is a great lounge/bar to visit at any point, whether you're an overnight guest or not. In addition to the fabulous drinks (everything from specialty cocktails to regulars), you'll find a pretty unique, semi-fancy menu featuring all sorts of cuisine. There are appetizers from pork belly, to hummus, to edamame, to calamari, to chips and salsa, to prawns... then there's an impressive assortment of sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi; soups, salad, sandwiches, gourmet entrees, and dessert. It seems a bit overwhelming because there are so many genres of food here, but there are only a few options per category, so never fear. As I mentioned, I wasn't able to order from that lovely menu, but I did get to experience breakfast. Now this wasn't the best breakfast I've ever had... first of all, it's very costly. I'm not surprised because it's a boutique hotel, but still... $15 for a plate is pretty expensive. We're talking migas, 2 pancakes with sides, 2 eggs with bacon and hashbrowns, breakfast buffet, etc... My over-medium eggs were good, but the bacon was less than impressive (it reminded me of the kind that's meant to be microwaved), and the potatoes were almost too crispy to enjoy. The buffet had plenty of fruit, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, the same bacon, and some pastries. It's a nice selection for sure, but probably not worth $15 per plate! Service is definitely friendly, attentive, and speedy. You won't sit and wait for long which is great, but makes you wonder how much of the food is pre-cooked and sitting under a heat lamp. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and I love the ambiance; big comfy booths, tall windows that let in all the natural light, funky decor and bold-colored walls... I had to go all the way back up to my room to get ID. Humongous hassle. Also, it was pretty obvious we were hotel guests. Do they have many under age patrons staying here? Minus a star for this inconvenience. Minus another star because my drink (palmarita) was undrinkable! I took one sip and was disgusted. Didn't take a second sip. This review pertains to the lobby/bar area. I've always been curious about NYLO in Las Colinas since it was near my work building and wanted to try out a boutique hotel bar. So I invited some friends for happy hour on a Thursday night (advertised as 'well-heeled Thursdays'). The entrance wasn't clearly marked and the lobby area was dark. Front-desk folks were friendly and responsive. The furnishings were nice and modern. At the bar, we couldn't get seated at the nice U-shaped seats since we didn't have group of 8 people. We settled for seats at the long table instead, near the kitchen, and somewhat overlooking the nice pool area. The furniture is modern, funky, and uncomfortable. There was live music that night, a guy at a keyboard and a female singer provided enjoyable music (but I can't tell you now what she sang). The staff members are cute and young, but appear to be inexperienced. We asked for happy hour beer, and instead of bringing beer on tap, she brought beer in bottles (a difference of $3 vs. $6). I think sushi that night was 50% off, but the portions weren't too big. The fried calamari with spicy sauce was a hit and worth whatever it cost. my friend ordered the $20 Sangria pitcher and she sent the whole thing back as it tasted completely of slightly flavored ice water. You can take your drinks out to the pool area with shaded cabanas and they'll give you plastic containers. Visually stunning place, service was so-so. Beer was served warm. The entire bar temperature was a bit warm as well. We liked how our group of four were able to converse fairly well without having to raise our voices or get distracted by sports TV. Will most likely not come back here again since their bar food menu is limited and very pricey (compared to say, Humperdinks, or any other other places in Las Colinas). The sushi is so underrated! My boyfriend and I were planning on going to Blue Fish as we normally would but his friend suggested that we check the sushi bar out since we were staying in the hotel. I'm so glad we did 'cause it was such a great experience. We dine Omakase style (chef's choice). Our only preference was to incorporate some yellowtail into the mix. The presentation was so pretty and everything was just so fresh and my palette was so so happy. I did take awhile for us to receive the food even though we dined at the sushi bar. OH, and what totally blew me away was the ambiance. It's such a cutesy, cozy place for date night. They had someone that was performing live. For the first hr or so, I thought it was just music that they were playing but I couldn't believe there was someone in the corner just singing his heart away. It was so amazing. I've been meaning to write this review for a while, and a while translating to when they first opened since we had the opportunity to come here a few days before the actual live grand opening. The space itself is trendy. From when you walk in and head to the bar, you feel like you are in a trendy, modern, upscale New York establishment. The decor is fantastic and we had fun sitting (or trying to sit) in some of the most interesting pieces of furniture on may see. There was a group of 8+ of us, and we were able to easily find a table comfortable to fit us all...and then some. The service was great and the drinks kept coming. It was a nice day out, and should you go there on a nice day, I would recommend to try to sit outside. Their outside areas are gorgeous and just so comfortable looking. Due to the size of our group, we felt more comfortable indoors. I would definitely go back...particularly to see if they were able to keep the space fresh and lively as I have remembered it. I came here for a business lunch a few weeks back to meet a coworker from the other side of town, the LOFT was pretty much empty middle of the day. I can't remember if we actually saw any other customers at all, maybe one. There were comfy couches to work at before we were ready to eat. The food though I found overpriced and mediocre. I had the burger that was described very elegantly but its execution was very average and forgettable. I do really like the vibe of the hotel though and it's a great place to come if you need somewhere relatively quiet to meet up. read more

Completely terrible service! We were at the bar for 25 minutes before someone took our order! Then we waited about 25 minutes before food came if not longer... we had to ask twice for them to check. Then the stuff was ice cold! At the end, I gave my card to close my tab. The guy disappeared. We ended up getting someone else to close the tab after 20 minutes. Ah Nylo. The girl that tried too hard, but in the end was a prude and didn't put out at all. Nylo isn't completely dismissible, and hopefully time will heal the substandard service, the warm bottle of red wine (literally warm on the first pour...we had to ask to ice it down), and the decent but lackluster sushi. Though I'm a bit out of place in a trendy, gray concert-walled mod place like this, I dug the red-grey-white-black decor here. The indoor area opens out into a large pool with outdoor seating, which would be very sexy with the right clientele. The crowd was....off. I think I'm just too old for the "let's wear a mini dress and tried to get laid" crew, but this place will hopefully draw some decent regulars soon. Hopefully. read more

This review is for the bar only so please do not use this to judge the food or anything else. The lounge here has a very modern feel to it, which I thought was cool, though seems very out of place in Las Colinas. There are a lot of modern furniture pieces the definitely give a unique flavor to this place. Onto the meat and bones of this review is the lounge itself. There always seems to be a fair sized crowd here that I suspect are groups of workers from the area throwing a happy hour. As such, it's not hard to get a drink from the bar here, which is a plus. The drinks here are very pricey, but then I would hope you got that feeling that moment you walked into the lounge. The bartenders give a nice, healthy pour for their liquors, which is awesome, but then you get the bill and you realize it may not be quite as awesome as you thought. Not a total surprise what everything ran I guess, though I thought it was pushing it to have Bud Lights come out to a little more than $5. I have no problem paying good dollar for good whiskey, but I won't pay that much for Bud without feeling robbed. I would suggest coming here if you happen to be big-ballin' or want to look fancy I guess. They probably have the best selection of premium liquors in a 5 mile radius so come here if you're looking for something special. For me and my current lifestyle, I couldn't see myself coming back here but I can see the appeal to others. read more

I'm a pretty regular guy, so when a coworker suggested we meet a colleague at NY Loft for happy hour recently I welcomed the chance at a change of atmosphere. The decor is really cool - funky is the word that comes to mind. Funky in a good way that is. (Do people even say "funky" any more)?? Grays, blacks, reds, glass brick - even in my boots and jeans I liked the ambience. The service was attentive. Seems that a coworker had just spent the weekend there and befriended one of the servers in the bar. That is always helpful, and the service we received was quite good as a result. We had a few glasses of wine. I started with a red, which was way too warm. Switched to riesling and I was just fine. As we began to sweat we were told the AC wasn't working. With temps outside in three digits it got a bit warm. We ordered some sushi rolls which were fresh, tasty, and generous. We agreed to give them a try again, hopefully with working AC. If you find yourself in Irving/Las Colinas pay them a visit. BTW, NY Loft is also a boutique hotel. I'm told the rooms are very nicely decorated and a great value. Just FYI. read more

This is a fun place to visit after work for a bite to eat. The decor is really funky, weird chairs, long booths, concrete walls, throw pillows, reclaimed wood. There's a great view of the pool in some places. They have a HUGE drink list but somehow I chose one beer after the other that they didn't have. The manager set me up with a free Stella after a few failed attempts. That was nice of him. I had a plain old burger and fries and they were really tasty! The food is a little expensive, depending on what you order, but it's a fun atmosphere to try every once in a while. read more

I'm rating this place solely on the bar experience. I heard that the hotel and bar/ restaurant are separate entities and hope so because our stay was very nice but the bar was not. -2 stars for the 2 separate interactions we had w/the most rudest bartender we've ever encountered! -1 star for the hospitality by the pool +2 stars for the amazing view at night. I'm not denying how absolutely gorgeous it is to hang out at by the pool at night, makes a real nice picture. We checked in for a tournament we were attending. A few of us were hanging out at the pool and decided to grab a few drinks for the kids and ourselves. Stood at the bar for about 10 minutes until we were acknowledged, mind you there was only 1 other couple at the bar. I ordered 4 Shirley Temples for the kids and 3 beers for the adults present. This older bartender man was so mean, he was huffing and puffing the entire time while getting us our drinks. He was soooo bothered it was almost funny, like are you serious? I didn't have my ID so I had to go back upstairs to get it. When I came back down I stood there with it and offered to show it to him and he waved it away (grrr!). So we go back to the pool, kids take a drink and 'blugggghh!' I guess the Sprite syrup went out cause all you taste was carbonated water. My sis and I knew we would be in for it when we went back in with those drinks. We let this younger gal at the bar know what happen and she went and told that same older guy and man was he pissed! Talking in Spanish to another man, pointing at us, tasting the drink, said some more stuff. Man was he in a bad mood and rude AF! The gal returned said they syrup ran out and only their manager can change it out and he wouldn't be in until the evening. (Wow, mmmmkayy...) She said they only had 1 can of Sprite left, (ugh) so I asked for 4 cranberry juices instead. Terrible, how can the only the manager be authorized to change out the syprup? As the day progressed more of the parents came out to have a drink. By this time the pool area was quite busy. I noticed the bar staff coming out to other patrons and bringing them water, drinks some even food. Never once did they come over to us. We stood there 3 days and never once did anyone come over to see how things were. Not that they have to but if they were tending to others in the same area why not us? I most likely won't return to this hotel. Some of the other parents (2 others actually) told me that after they paid their tab the same bartender (older grouchy man) told them they don't give change. I simply needed a place to crash after the bars.Wasn't looking for 4 or 5 star..just decent,clean,convenient and well priced.I did have concerns but for $90.00 on a Sunday ,located on lascollins- one block walking distance tooffice, the hotel serves it purpose . But if you were looking for quiet and intimate, this is not the place. Service is attentive (at the bar). The Ceasar salad was not that great. Certainly not bad, but not great. And they have some kind of alternative type of crouton that I have never seen in my life and hope never to again. Round, bullet-like things. Good selection of drinks and wine and beer. Diverse menu. Prices are $20-$25 average plate/entree for dinner. I had the pork chop which was well cooked and came with veggies and a great mashed potato ensamble with cheese and spinach. At last - a chic place in Las Colinas....NYLO is a brand of upscale loft type hotels that's springing up in metro suburbs around major cities. The Hotel is not fully opened but their Loft Restaurant and Lounge is under a soft opening and a bunch of us went there on Sat night for pre party drinking. The Hotel is parked into a corner off of Royal Lane and McArthur.....I live in the area but never noticed this place until a friend of mine told me.....The interior is plush, contemporary, cozy, modish.....I would actually rate it on the same lines of the Living Room at the W...... Due to the soft opening it was kind of slow for a Sat night......the drinks menu was attractive and so was the dinner/appetizer menu.....the Calamari is a must try.....more along the lines of a Chinese Orange Fried batter covering the calamari...... The place also has private rooms, a dance floor, the DJ was jamming good music acoustically well reflected by the audio systems around the whole bar. For those of you living in the LC area this place is more than worth a try.....I am very excited.....I see some good times ahead at this place :-) And, ofcourse the rooms are affordable which can come in handy as well around 2ish in the morning- HA!! read more

I went in for a business happy hour meeting. I arrived late and joined the group on the sofas near the bar. Not once did anyone from the staff stop by to ask if I wanted a drink. I went to the bar to order my drink and stood there, and stood there and stood here. When I finally got the attention of the young lady busy eating her skittles and talking to her coworker behind the counter, she seemed too busy to help. She passed me on to another person behind the counter. He prepared my Cosmo and didn't card me. Then he takes my credit card and because it has "check ID" written on the back he decided to card me (although my picture is on the front of the card). I paid for my $12 drink and walked away shacking my head. I've gone to this hotel/bar before and had a much better experience but my most recent experience was horrible.
