When we saw the pictures of this place online it scared us a bit, but once we arrived the hospitality and atmosphere of this place came to life. It's a cute little tucked away place in Belmont. Ute loves the animals they save so much and she gave my wife and teenage daughters a great tour of the property and introduced them to the longhorn cattle, the sheep, goats and so many other animals on property. My partner and I stayed in the vintage airsteam Tonomo and other family members stayed in the three other living spaces (one other airstream and two suites in the main buildings). Everything was well thought out, comfortable and beautiful. Smith Lake itself is a treasure and I will remember early morning paddle boarding as one of my favorite Alabama experiences. Kayaking, swimming, tubing and floating are great too. Alex and Jim, the husband and wife who own and run the B and B, are what really stand out. From stellar breakfasts, interesting conversation and a wealth of tips about the area, these two are charming and knowledgeable hosts. A wonderful combination of private and social spaces and sunsets that I will remember for a long time. I strongly recommend this as a true get away.

Polina, one of the owners,…read more greeted us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the civil war artifacts and the exquisite 15th-to 19th century paintings that hung on the walls of the estate. It was a joy to see the paintings and civil war artifacts up close and have the opportunity to discuss the collection with Polina. After the tour, we settled into the Jenny Lind suite with the jacuzzi tub. It was great to soak in the tub and relax after a busy day and enjoy the complimentary wine and refreshments. Our room was so beautiful, quiet and comfortable. We woke up to a beautifully presented breakfast that was healthy and bursting with flavor. Our favorites were the sorbet and fruit, crostini and the lovey and delightful cheesecake. The small plates of deliciousness are sure to please any foodie. We highly recommend staying at the Shiloh Chennault Estate when you are visiting the area.
