Polina, one of the owners,…read more greeted us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the civil war artifacts and the exquisite 15th-to 19th century paintings that hung on the walls of the estate. It was a joy to see the paintings and civil war artifacts up close and have the opportunity to discuss the collection with Polina. After the tour, we settled into the Jenny Lind suite with the jacuzzi tub. It was great to soak in the tub and relax after a busy day and enjoy the complimentary wine and refreshments. Our room was so beautiful, quiet and comfortable. We woke up to a beautifully presented breakfast that was healthy and bursting with flavor. Our favorites were the sorbet and fruit, crostini and the lovey and delightful cheesecake. The small plates of deliciousness are sure to please any foodie. We highly recommend staying at the Shiloh Chennault Estate when you are visiting the area. Travel down the rustic Main Street in this little town in the south and you feel like you've gone back in time. Near The Natchez Trace Parkway and numerous Civil War Battlefields, Belmont is a great place to unplug! Once you arrive, the hosts have made sure your stay is nothing short of epic by thinking of everything! We have stayed at quite a few B&B's over the years but nothing on the scale of this place. The kitchen is better equipped than mine at home with every pot or pan or dish you could ever need. The two bedrooms each have an extremely comfortable bed and flat screen TV as well as individual split A/C and heater. The bathroom comes appointed with monogrammed towels, a full soaker tub, (and I don't know why this is my favorite but) a fog free lighted mirror. The quarter sawn oak floors complete this epic find and add to the warm feel throughout. If you are a B&B person, or have any reason to stay within driving distance of "The Loft", do yourself a favor and BOOK NOW! You will not be disappointed!

Everything was well thought out, comfortable and beautiful. Smith Lake itself is a treasure and I will remember early morning paddle boarding as one of my favorite Alabama experiences. Kayaking, swimming, tubing and floating are great too. Alex and Jim, the husband and wife who own and run the B and B, are what really stand out. From stellar breakfasts, interesting conversation and a wealth of tips about the area, these two are charming and knowledgeable hosts. A wonderful combination of private and social spaces and sunsets that I will remember for a long time. I strongly recommend this as a true get away.
