Be forewarned during football weekends…read more We made dinner reservations to celebrate a birthday. We had dined here before and really enjoyed both the food and the ambiance, so we thought it would be the perfect place to return for this special occasion. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were led to another part of the hotel and seated in a stark ballroom with TVs. The setting reminded us more of a corporate meeting or awards ceremony than a nice birthday dinner. To say the least, it was not what we expected or had envisioned for the occasion. When we asked why we were seated in the ballroom, we were told that it was a way for the hotel to capture additional business and take advantage of an otherwise missed opportunity. While we understand the business reasoning, guests should be informed of this arrangement when making their reservations rather than having it come as an unpleasant surprise upon arrival. If you're making a reservation here during a football weekend, be sure to ask where you will actually be seated and whether the setting is the restaurant you were expecting. Don't assume that being seated in a ballroom with TVs will be suitable for everyone--especially when celebrating a birthday or other special occasion. We enjoyed our previous experience here, which is why this visit was particularly disappointing.

He was attentive, knowledgeable, and really helped steer us toward the right meal selections. I ordered the garlic pepper chicken fettuccine, my wife customized the pasta jambalaya with shrimp only, and our son had the shrimp po' boy. Everything was tasty, well-seasoned, and satisfying. We finished the meal with cheesecake and a brownie for dessert This was our first time dining at Bouré, but it definitely won't be our last.

I sat at the bar and stared at my salad for a long time as it sat in the window. Tonight I ordered the Caesar again and said I would order my entree later. Server informed me my salad was almost ready. At that time I ordered my entree- red fish. I received my salad after a few minutes after that. Just a few minutes later and not quite half way through my Caesar my redfish showed up and dropped mid salad. I let My server came to check on me and she kindly apologized and I told her it was just feedback I thought would help because it seems like it's a problem. Just feedback. My server got "sat". She said she'd bring me water and got backed up. I ended up refilling my water at the bar. This is a long review but it has a happy ending, I promise. Her name was Julie. I sat at the Duce next to the window right by the bar. Julie told Me she saw me get my own water. She said she was going to take care of my bill. Surprised that my feedback resulted in this level of recover I asked if the restaurant is taking care of my check or if she was. She said the manager offered a small discount on the salad but she was sorry I had this kind of experience and wanted to make sure I Came back and gave them another chance. She said this was her passion and wants to make sure her guests are taken care of. I insisted I pay and explained I was there on business so I wasn't paying for it myself. After several time trying, I just said "thank you and I wished everyone cared as much." That was by far the most sincere service recovery I ever encountered and it was at the cost of the associate. Manager never game to the table. I don't recall seeing anyone that fit that description either. This is a mid to upper tier price point "nice" establishment so expectations should reflect that. Julie owned it and took one for the team. I felt horrible she felt she needed to do that. I hope she doesn't do this often. Experience not so good but I experienced worse. Food was okay to good. Julie was outstanding. I don't carry cash but I gave her everything I had. The only response I need to hear that would make me change my mind is if Julie was refunded for my check. We asked for changes and they made it happen with smiles. Not use to that!! We were seated by the sweetest little college girl waitress that knew her stuff on maybe the busiest weekend in Oxford history (Ole Miss/LSU Kiffin return game) Want to set the tone for just how crazy busy it was!! So I ordered the Big Ribeye(medium well) with her recommended "glaze" on the side. I been burned by the glaze recommendations before so I'm cautious. "Put it on the side" I wanted fries that was not with the steak and she said I could swap any sides around any which way I wanted. Oh and the only negative thing at this point was they served Pepsi instead of Coke and I'm a DIET COKE JUNKIE. History has proven more times than not that when a restaurant serves Pepsi they're not as good as Coke stocked restaurants just been my findings.!! I asked for lemon to help kill the taste and we all laughed. Her response was I'll find the biggest juicy one.!! So at this point we're really liking the waitress. My wife orders the five cheese ravioli.. The food arrives timely with a medium well monster steak request. Me having to send steaks back so many times because they were undercooked. This one was cooked to perfection, could not believe it!!! So me being the impatient eater that I am immediately cut a slice of steak and lightly dipped into the glaze and put into my mouth. OMG!! The steak was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I told my wife "you have to try this" . She is a foodie with extensive knowledge of food and said it was delicious too!!! I said "I will be yelping" this place because it rivals my favs in NYC(Pastis and Balthazar's) The fries were also cooked to perfections with the just right salt/pepper seasonings. That GLAZE/SAUCE was the BEST I've ever tasted!!! They could sell the GLAZE by itself. The Raviolli was very good as well with a very tasty tomato sauce. I can't say enough good about this place and would easily be my top in OXFORD. You won't be disappointed!!

Baked potato was fresh and ingredients all good, bacon was actual bacon not bacon bits. Pricing was very fair, especially if you are coming from a big city... we had steak, shrimp and grits, a couple of drinks, and the bill was right at $100, where I come from that is a good deal. Waitress was attentive and did a good job. I was happy with the service... in my book, you get the food right, that is 80% of the job. Not fastest service, but still good. I have eaten at steak houses all over the world, i don't think this one is the best, but it is good, especially when you consider middle of nowhere Oxford. There were plenty of outlets, though and all of them were working (something I have found not to be true with most of the Hilton properties. I've stayed at). The towels were nice and soft. There was plenty of light in the room. No dark spaces. The bed was comfortable, but a bit firm. The pillows were not exactly what I like. I prefer a medium firm foam pillow, but most of my pillows were flat. I was also a little disappointed with the breakfast. On my second day, they ran out of eggs and sausage, and the pancake machine was not working. Also, the coffee was a bit too strong for my liking. Normally the coffee at Hilton hotels is very good, But here it was quite bitter. I did like the fact that they had the pump style creamer for the coffee, including French vanilla, which is my favorite. If it were not for the few disappointments, I mentioned above, I would have given five stars. Overall, the concept of Tru is great.
