From…read morethe moment we first contacted Oxford Treehouse Gallery (OTH) we knew this was the place for us. One must drive down a dirt road to find the gallery nestled among the trees. I am not sure if was the chickens that greeted me, the beautiful gallery, or the hospitality of Vivian and Walter Neill that made me never want to leave. Vivian worked tirelessly with us to orchestrate the shower, which was much needed since we were planning from our homes in Minnesota, Massachusetts and Maine. She was a source book of knowledge and wealth of support. The day of the event, Walter and Vivian could not have been more helpful. Our guests were astounded by the venue, all who came commented upon the uniqueness. I would highly recommend OTH as a venue for special events.

I simply love old places with history so this was right up my alley! The Como Inn is a full featured experience. Fully stocked with wonderful food, in an old building with multiple super comfy rooms. Check in/check out times are flexible which I also found as a nice Southern touch! Just use your manners. :-) The owners are just good, kind southern folk. If I didn't have to be in the wedding, I would have been just fine sitting out on the back great patio and shooting the sh*t with them. One thing to note, there is a long, shotgun staircase up to the room level so be aware of that should you have elderly or other similar needs. I consider myself old in my 50s and it is indeed a haul, but waits for you at the top of the stairs is an awesome experience! As far as the nearbys... plenty of food options from pub grub to Thia and Mexican and a steak house that clearly must be something because there were a line of people a block long wanting to get in there! There's also a store a few blocks up with all your basic needs including alcohol. I honestly wish we would have had more than one night and a rushed schedule as I could see myself spending an entire weekend trip there just to chill and we plan to do just that. Needs a refresh, for sure. Removing the carpet and putting down new floors would give some life into this room! More lighting would help as well. The bathroom is old and in much need of an overhaul!! Water pressure was almost non-existent. It felt like I was showering with just a trickle of water. But, still grateful I had one to use after a long day of moving boxes and furniture. I would definitely stay here again. I just now know to expect mediocre rooms. The pictures on the website make the rooms look much bigger, brighter, and newer. The lobby is beautiful and the outside of the building is beautiful as well. Generous portions. The taste/flavor of the lunch special was good. Not amazing but good. The hamburger steak needed some kind of binder to add moisture. Very packy, in our opinion. The potatoes were a good consistency. I'm a cook and I would bet my front teeth that they jazzed up potatoes flakes from a box. The gravy was good. If it's not from scratch I would not be surprised. The burger had a generous amount of perfectly cooked bacon. He got a side of ranch for dipping and honestly, no flavor. We both said it was like just mayonnaise. It was 100% boxed cake with canned frosting. I ate maybe half and left the rest. It was in actuality, not included and we paid for a meh piece of cake I didn't even eat. We arrived at 11:05 and left at 12:20. Mike finally walked to the stand to see what was up because the server had taken our card 15 mins earlier and was walking around refilling drinks. The other lady (maybe owner?) was pleasant and rang him up. Was this lunch worth $40 pretax? Yes and no. It beat fast food but the overall taste was just ok. We love the feel of the place and the experience. Will we go again? No. Do we regret we went? Yes, because we lost an hour of travel time and were not wowed by the food. I wish I had better things to say because we love local places but this appears to be a cult classic for locals.

I think it was the really low/short stall walls and doors. Didn't feel very private and with wide open doors it seemed a bit vulnerable. A security shack with a guard and cart were up front and there was a button inside to press for security. That said, the abundant awareness of the security made me feel a little less safe in ways. I felt it was unusual for a rest stop and just like it probably was really needed if it was that present. So, glad security is there but I'd surely not go there after dark or take my eyes off my children for even a second.
