HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE! I called and left two messages... nothing. Do yourself a big favor and don't use this "business."

Imagine buying your first project truck, and hitting the road to drive it back home 6 hours, but two hours in your alternator goes out, only Option you have is to stop at autozones along the way to recharge the battery and hope you make it to the next one until you got home, that option fails and you're left 2 hours from home on a now 13 hour drive, in a dark parking lot....Santa clause didn't save me that night at midnight, Jason did! Great guy very reasonable and 100% knows what he's doing!! He changed my alternator in the dark, cold midnight in a autozone parking lot!!! New to Tucson and we have been looking for a trust worthy mechanic. My husband was recommended to "The local mechanic LLC" do work on his bronco that kept turning off when it got hot. We took the bronco to 2 auto mechanic shops and they couldnt find the problem, so we went to see Jason and he found the problem within hours. My husbands bronco runs great and I also took my car for a tune up and oil change. I am happy to say that once again..great job. Jason is a very honest, trust worthy fast and reasonable mechanic. We were traveling in our RV and experienced a fuel leak on our diesel Onan 5500 generator early on a Saturday morning. After hours of calling around town trying to find a mobile repair service I was able to get in touch with Jason. Not only did he answer his phone, he set a time to meet and kept the appointment. He is very professional and friendly, and even went to pickup parts to complete the job. Price was reasonable as well. Jason can change the oil for a car but otherwise I had nothing but negative experiences. I asked if he could get rid of the squeaking noise in my tires when I brake. He brought the car back and the squeaking sound was gone but then there was a scraping sound on both sides. He took the car and "fixed" it again, but when he returned it there was a different sound. The third time he returned the car there was no sound but he acted as if the car had spontaneously developed the sound, independent of the work. Sure. The next time I called because my check engine light was on in my car. He ran his Mercedes diagnostics and said there was a leak in the gas line and I should take it to Mercedes so they could take care of. I paid him and took the car to Mercedes. They ran the diagnostic and called to say the gas cap wasn't on and that was the reason. I texted Jason about it, and he said he should have checked that and apologized. But of course no refund. So I paid twice for something that would have been easily fixed by anyone who had run all the checks. The last time I asked if he would drive my car to upstate NY, and he agreed to do so for $2700. More than other estimates I received but since he's a mechanic I figured he could take care of the car if it ran into problems. He did say he wanted to check out my BMW to see if it would be ok for the distance drive. Two days before he was supposed to check the car I text him to see if he can come early to check the car, and he responds saying he is out of town and won't be available for a couple days. So I ask if he was still planning to come on the scheduled day. No response. I text to see if he still can drive my car to NY. No response. I should also mention that he never arrived at the planned time but was always a few hours late. Also, he would tell me about screwups that his mechanics had made, how he was busy putting out fires that his employees had caused to other's cars and how it was hard to find good help. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt because he seemed like a nice guy. But I wouldn't trust him with my cars. read more

If I lived in Tucson Jason would be my mechanic. I was passing through when my fan belt broke. It was a Sunday and somehow I found The Local Mechanic. Jason said come in and when he could get to it later in the day. When I arrived he diagnosed the problem, got in his motor bike and went to buy the part. Installed it and I was out in under an hour. As I left he said if I had any trouble within 100 miles to give him a call and he would hop in his tow truck and come and get me. That is stellar Customer Service. I have had the displeasure of using this business a few times. Jason appears to be a nice guy, and I felt like giving him a chance. However, he is incompetent, and or sloppy. On my truck, a very simple replacement of the windshield wiper tank had to be done three times until it finally held liquid. Later, he attempted to replace the pitman arms on that same truck. First he got the wrong part. He did finally install them, but he failed to notice that the idle arms, and the pivot bushings also needed replacement. He change the clutch on my Honda and did a fine jobs, but upon putting the wheels back on he failed to to secure the hub and spindle assembly. It ruined the brakes, the rotors and cost me over 1300 to have repaired elsewhere. As a I said he is nice to deal with, but your vehicle will be unsafe after passing through his shop. Don't go there. read more

Jason had the opportunity to stick me with an alternator (my diagnosis) and I wouldn't have questioned a thing. But...he's honest. After an overnight charge on my 3 week old battery, he performed every check and test in front of me. He concluded the battery might have left the factory with a weak charge or it sat on the shelf for an extended period. read more

My car wouldn't start at all--even with a jump and I had no idea what was wrong with it. I called Jason on SUPERBOWL Sunday, scheduled an appointment for the next morning! Jason was prompt arriving to me, quickly diagnosed the problem,took initiative with taking my battery to auto zone and ordering my parts! He didn't try to gip me into fixing more things (which usually happens because I have an older luxury car and people tell me all kind of prices),was cost effective and was completely honest! The Local Mechanic is a Veteran and to support our Vets I decided to obtain a quote to check brakes, change oil and generally check fluids. The Local Mechanic is Honest, friendly to deal with and I am completely happy with his work. Prices are better than anywhere else I have dealt with in the past. Number one is trust that I am not being ripped off since you are at the mercy of your mechanic. He did not try to sell up, and assured me the fluids were at right levels, clean and replaced brakes after showing me the wear. He genuinely enjoys his work and not out to scalp people. Jason is a nice guy, however, I would highly recommend using another mechanic for any complex diagnostic needs. I called him regarding problems with a Nissan, which he indicated he serviced. I let him know that I believed it was bad camshaft position sensors as these had gone out in the past. He indicated that it was common, but that before he did any work, he would confirm with OBD diagnostics. He followed-up within a couple of days and confirmed that this was indeed the problem. He replaced them. When my son arrived to pick up the 'fixed' vehicle, it wouldn't even start. Jason committed to re-running diagnostics and then informed me that the IPDM Module had gone out. Based on the trouble we were going through, he indicated that he would not charge us for the diagnostics on the second go around. I reluctantly agreed, but had to purchase the part myself and send to Tucson. He replaced the IPDM module. Ultimately, my son could not even get his car home and it is now at a dealership. He reneged on his promise and charge an additional $140 dollars. So, $840 dollars later, I have a car that is in worse shape than when it was dropped off and never even received a call from him. Do not use this mechanic for anything beyond an oil change. read more
