I don't eat burgers often, but this was great! I heard the waitress tell someone in our party that they cook all burgers to medium well, unless requested otherwise. The Local Cow (TLC) and its neighbor, The Hoppy Brewer (THB) , 'share' a courtyard. Much like Israel and Palestine share the West Bank. Try to eat at TLC (no reservations; no alcohol), and wait in courtyard (apparently 'owned' by THB) with drinks. Whoops! You can't take alcohol into TLC, and the night we were there (my birthday!) TLC quit taking orders for food! We had a party of 8. Two don't drink alcohol. And they left, followed by two more who were hungry. THB's Beer Garden menu says: "Tables are for the patrons of THB however, we do allow food to be brought in from local restaurants (sic)........Only drinks from THB allowed in the Courtyard...No alcoholic beverages may be taken into TLC. TLC servers--probably as frustrated by their owner's policies as were we--were snippy and defensive. We all left. A dismal birthday party, thanks to the warring businesses. We will not again return to either establishment. Downtown Gresham has wanted a thriving economy. It won't receive it with this sort of internicine warfare. read more

Did not live up to the hype. Appreciate that the meat is well sourced and good quality but we honestly found the food lacking any flavor, and for paying extra the fries are grossly soft and soggy. I thought it was okay. When I arrived I stood there awkwardly waiting to be seated while the staff ignored me. After a few minutes I just seated myself. I had the Left Coast Burger - Swiss cheese, bacon, avocado, mushrooms, mayo and the usual veggies. Mine didn't look anything like the picture posted 6 months ago and I was immediately disappointed when I picked it up and felt a cold bun. I'm a big believer that ANY restaurant served burger should have a buttered, grill toasted bun. The bun/bread overwhelmed the burger. With that and an over cooked patty the burger overall was dry. Not sure if it was avocado slices or a paste as it kind of merged with the dry bun. The best part was the cow truffle fries. I thought those were very good. Cooked to order as well. No heat lamp fries. Table service was fine other than a total of three small ice squares in my 'ice' water that didn't survive but maybe a minute. read more

Horrible customer service. Unless you are a Grub Hub or other food delivery service order. They do not care about their customers who order to go and come in themselves. Took 75 minutes for a burger and salad. Did not seem to care about multiple people waiting a long time as I was not the only one waiting that long. After 40 minutes, I was told maybe another ten minutes. I went back in after twenty and was told yet again about ten minutes. This time they were close as it was fifteen from that point. I voiced my frustration and the staff was not concerned at all saying they had other orders to get out ahead of phone in orders. Before COVID-19 we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was DELICIOUS. We have had food delivered on a couple of occasions and although it was still tasty, it really loses something, especially the fries. The food is GREAT eaten in the restaurant but just GOOD when it's delivered. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We came in as a party of ten and they would not accommodate us. Even when we asked to sit as two different parties of 5 they refused. The hostess was SO rude. Never had worse service in my life. HORRIBLE!!! Good food is not worth this. The Local Cow in Gresham: ---What a terrible place! First time there and never going back. I ordered a burger with bacon and avocado with fries, plus a kid's slider with fries to go. The burger came without the avocado, it was dry and fries were soggy. Fries supposed to be crisp, not soggy! I couldn't even dip it into ketchup, it was that bad. Bacon was black, burned. I couldn't stomach finishing the meal.... The service lacked big time: I went to the counter to pay my bill and grab the take out. Problem was the takeout was not done, and I had ordered it 1/2 h ago at the same time as my meal. After questioning about it I was given " oh, it will be done in 5 mins". Five minutes go by, nothing. I just stood there waiting, and waiting... A woman who I think was the manager, did not come to the rescue, instead she totally voided eye contact with me...After trying to get some attention from the server, she told me she rang the order later so it would be warm. Hah! I'm sure she forgot to ring it at all, just like she forgot the avocado. I couldn't wait any longer, I left without the slider for my grandson. :( :( :( P.S. Worst space planning EVER! First it's laid out terribly, no where for people wait, the entrance and exit is blocked by the huge hostes stand and causes a jam constantly! Second, the space could accommodate more tables to sit more people, but that big empty void in the middle of the restaurant really must help. Designers matter!!!! I walked out the last time I was there when they sat a party that came in after me and told me sorry and it would be another 10 minutes, tho there was no place to wait and it was raining and cold. I refuse to go back to this place until they fix the space planning of the restaurant! Dear owner, Hire a space planner (not a wannabe Gresham designer). Pay the money for a good one, you will sit more people AND will have a more desirable waiting area. read more

Okay, so I said I would update after we actually ate our food... so here goes. It was a to-go order... they missed baby boy's hot dog basket but that was quickly remedied with friendly service. I don't hold that against them at all... only took a few extra minutes to whip it up and we weren't in a hurry. We tried the cheese balls because of a Yelp review recommendation... Let me just say, if you like Italian flavors and ooey, gooey, cheese and a crispy crust... Get these. They are delicious! Both of our build your own burgers were really good. The fries are great, both regular and Cajun. Be prepared for a bit of a kick from the Cajun fries but only if you're not into spicy foods. The fry sauce is better than most I've had. The veggies for the burgers were fresh and crisp and they set them on the side in the to-go box so they wouldn't wilt too much before getting home. My ONLY complaint... And it's barely that... Is that they seem to use a leaner ground beef, so the meat itself, though properly cooked and well seasoned, was a little dry... Add a little fry sauce, problem solved. Average burgers, sometimes over seasoned, always cooked to well. Somewhat flavorless or super salty. My girl is a vegetarian and we would sometimes go because they had a great black bean patty, which they have replaced with the Impossible burger, which kind of sucks. She won't eat those and now she won't go back with me, which is fine. There are better burger joints in the area. I did enjoy their steak salad. It was decent. But until they have a different veggie burger, we won't be back. Place is cold in the winter and really cold in the summer, and if you're not comfortable, they don't really seem to care. Their website doesn't lie, they truly do make incredible burgers, you really can taste how fresh the meat they use is. I will say the patties are smaller because of this, so if you are looking for a thick burger this isn't the place. Sadly due to the lay out of the restaurant their kitchen is TINY which means when they inevitably get busy on the weekend, service is SLOW. I would recommend going during the week, it took us 45-50 minutes to get our burger after ordering. Over all good burger, the price is high but that's because the quality of meat is better. I would say "I tried it once, I may go back but I certainly don't feel compelled to". Would say its worth trying at least once. read more
