I am a local and am happy that the restaurant re-opened this year after the fire. One of the best waterfront restaurants with a fantastic sunset in Southern DE/Ocean City market. The new open air design is really cool. The food is much more upgraded than the previous Lighthouse and the service has been good the several times we went. If you are visiting the beach area, sure worth a view, especially for the views. read more

Please be sure to read my entire review. Warning it may become lengthy! I have been to The Lighthouse in Dewey several times. I have had some wonderful experiences here however after this past Friday nights events, I have no interest in returning. Last Friday I came to Taco Toss for dinner with my aunt and my 8 year old daughter. We grabbed a nice table on the patio (great view) and they had live music. It was such a great experience and not to mention the great food and drink specials during Taco Toss. We enjoyed it so much, we made plans to return the following weekend (7/3). We had a group of 7 adults and one child. One of the staff, I believe her name was Mary Beth (or something similar) went out of her way for my child. She was awesome!! Thank you for that! Also the bartenders were wonderful. The crushes are delicious even at $8 a piece. However, at one point we went to listen to music and we were asked to leave in a not so polite manner. I took my child out on the deck while waiting on my group who was still inside The Lighthouse Bar. The security came up & was EXTREMELY rude and said "she has got to go! She cannot be here period!" I am not upset that your establishment does not want children on the deck or near the bar, I am very upset with how the situation was handled by your employee. I would suggest some signs about your child policy. I know the Rusty Rudder lets you know that after 9 their establishment becomes a bar. I was then stalked by this bouncer as if I were going to be sneaking back in to the Lighthouse. It was beyond crazy and extremely unprofessional. He shook his head as if I were a terrible person as we walked to the Rusty Rudder. I highly suggest skipping the Lighthouse if you have any children in your party and head over to the Rusty Rudder!! The Lighthouse has not only lost my business for my summers in Dewey but also my Delaware family members who were frequent visitors even during the off season. I would suggest a "clean up" of some of your staff, specifically a couple of your security guys. read more

Truly the best thing this place has going for it is a location. The outdoor seating has a beautiful view of the bay and is close enough to the nearby Rusty Rudder but you can hear all the music from the live bands clearly. The staff here is quite pleasant and we didn't have a wait even though it was a busy Sunday night over the Memorial Day weekend. The menu is slightly more involved than your typical bar offering and the burger that I ordered came with a little crabs spread it was actually pretty good. However the fries were terrible and the salad I ordered was tiny and we split a plate of nachos to begin that was simply horrific. No cheese undercooked yet somehow burned on the very top. Great place to have a local craft brew and grab a bite to eat. The food is excellent. We had the scallops for one of our appetizer, they were outstanding! Seared to perfection and served atop a "street corn" salsa and aiol. The tacos are great, 3 generously stuffed (we had the pork) The crab cakes were also very good with the red pepper sauce it comes with! Highly recommend the new Lighthouse! read more

Their cook must have died and they promoted the janitor to the kitchen. Worst food we've had in years tonight. The Crab Nachos (used to be great) we're a pile of chips, a mound of jalapenos, a scoop of crab dip, and a slight sprinkle of cheese tonight. The mussels were OK--until the janitor was able to over salt and oil the marinara sauce to make them inedible. The mac and cheese was so over cooked that it should have been served at a nursing home. Finally, the calamari were over cooked to the nth degree--and the imposter in the kitchen included more breading fragments than pieces of squid to top it off. The janitor was able to make half sense of a hamburger--though he did add a slice of cheese when ordered without. At least we could pick that off. read more

This is our second time at the Lighthouse and we enjoyed it this time as the atmosphere (outside on the deck) was great and service were good. The adult mixed beverages were fabulous. Menu selection is good and affordable. Our 11 year old loves the clams. The kid's PB&J is an Uncrustable, but our kid likes those, so he had no complaints. The fries and sliders were great, excellent bar food. Portions were not enormous but heartily realistic. The setting sun on the bay sealed the deal for us. read more

I recently dined here and I will never make that mistake again. The staff that I encountered at this restaurant were by far the rudest and worst that I've ever dealt with. The experience started off fine, the waitress was attentive and friendly and we all placed our orders shortly after sitting down. After around 45 minutes or an hour we hadn't received our food. Our waitress came by once or twice to let us know that the food would be out soon, makes you think she went back and checked on it, right? Wrong, another 20 or so minutes go by and still no food (no starters for the wait, chips, nothing). More time goes by and our waitress lets us know that half of our food was done and it wouldn't be much longer. More times goes by, and still no food...clearly our waitress was just lying. After speaking to two different managers and over an hour and a half of waiting for food, we still had only gotten less than half of the meals we ordered. After almost 2 hours of waiting for food, our meals come, but our waitress had turned extremely rude as if she was mad at us for "tattling" to the manager. The manager was "kind" enough to give us a small discount on our food - and acted as though she was doing us a huge favor - and let us know that it was our choice to wait and that we could have left at any time, so really she was being very generous. Finally when all is said and done and we get our checks, the waitress decided to randomly put people's food onto a few checks, making it incredibly difficult to figure out who owed what, even though she said she could do individual checks at the beginning of the meal. Overall, I don't recommend this restaurant at all and a 1 star rating is generous - but the food isn't entirely inedible as long as you don't mind waiting 2 hours, so there's that. read more

This review is for The Cove seafood restaurant. We decided to go out for our family meal while in Rehoboth Beach. We were told that The Cove had great seafood and a great happy hour. We started off the night having drinks in the bar area, and that was great. Our table was ready right on time for our reservation which was great. However, when we sat down it took awhile for our waiter to come over, and when he did he brought us some water and then said he'd be back. When he got back to the table we decided to order some crabs as an appetizer because we had all decided that we were going to get the special of the night $16 1 lb lobster dinner. After he brought us the appetizer he walked away without taking our orders. A little while later he came to take our orders at which point we were told that they had run out of lobster and that we needed to choose something else. We were not told that there was a substitute available. We then asked to speak to the manager to get some kind of clarity on what consideration was going to be made. The manager did not come to our table until after we had already ordered entrees (significantly more expensive than the lobster). The manager Leigh Anne came to our table, and we proceeded to tell her what our concerns were. We asked her if some kind of consideration was going to be made (i.e another meal comparable to the lobster in taste and price, or a complimentary desert, etc.) at which point we were told that a substitute special was available. We explained to her that we had already ordered because the waiter had not informed us of any substitutions. We asked her if perhaps we could get a percentage off of our meal or a free desert to compensate for the inability to order what we had intended due to the restaurant running out of lobster. She told us that "she was not authorized to give away free food." We went back and forth with her for several minutes with the end result being the same. Overall the food that we ended up eating was good, but the lack of customer service left a bad taste in our mouths... *Also, we usually have multiple families meet up for our annual reunion, and we have all decided that we will not be going back to The Cove ever again* read more

Absolutely love the restaurant/bar/food/drinks/employees. Will I be back? Probably not. It's hard to support a restaurant where the owners of that restaurant don't support their staff. I am a Lighthouse regular (being there with about four or five sometimes even more people times a week). We love the Lighthouse and their staff, from the bartenders Stuart/Tommy/Lo to their Manager Kaitlyn, to all of their servers Lindsey or Angela preferably our favorite. It's hard to see such hard working people not get support from the company they work for. With the new construction, the Lighthouse closed for the first time ever since they've opened..leaving their staff to find new jobs with less than a three week notice. Some of their employees have been working there for years and to go in, hear that they were closing...none of the staff seemed to know why or seemed to be "left in the dark" which if you were the owner, why wouldn't you want your staff to be informed of what was going on? None of them seemed to know what was going on or when they would be open in the Spring. I love the Lighthouse and I have been coming here for about eight years now, but I can not and do not see myself supporting a company that does not give a shit about their employees. I understand the owners want to make extra money with the new construction but they should not lose site of the fact that they make most their money because of what a great job their staff does. My heart hurts for their employees and wish I could tell the owner(s) (i believe there are two or three) to suck it. After losing most of their staff, they will in fact be losing MOST of their customers. Wish the employees the best of luck. I apologize about not really writing a food review, I just do not think people should support a place where the owners don't even know what's going on in the restaurant but decide to make decisions without even thinking about how it will affect their staff. The views are wonderful and the staff is awesome. Be sure to wear Aqua socks in case the floor falls out and you end up in the water. The drinks and food are good and priced in line with the rest of town. I think there is a alligator living in the restroom because no one wants to go in there or its where they filled the movie saw. Terrible service and food. Arrived with wife later evening for a sit down dinner by the water. No host at their station so the bartender sat us at a nice table by the water. We sat for 15 minutes and received no service. The table next to ours had also been waiting for their check. A guy came to our table, maybe security?, apologized for bad service, took our drink orders and said they were on the house(ok, fair enough). First drinks were ok ($8 cocktails in plastic cups) whatever. The food was just as bad. The security guy came back w our drinks and asks if waitress came and we said no so he took our starters order (chix tenders and house salad). It arrived and shortly after a waitress came to take our meal order. After 20minutes after placing our order we were informed they had run out of mussels(literally 20 minutes. How does she now know this sooner). Anyways, Ordered the steak and it was a mistake. I ordered medium and it came back well done and cold. In fact, all the food was cold. The sauce on the steak was just tomato sauce with pepper and tasted as such. But the worse part, when the waitress came and asked how everything was I told her the food is cold and my steak is over cooked. She just smiles and shrugged her shoulders. Gee thanks Jillian. Worst $50 meal I've ever had. When our waitress replenished our drinks they were completely different and terrible tasting so we just paid and left. There is a reason why the rusty rudder was packed and this place was dead. I took pics of the food and how we literally left 3/4s of the food on the table. AVOID THE LIGHTHOUSE! This bar is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe it was the beautiful sunset and the view of the water, or maybe it was the $1 tacos for hours and hours, but I would come back here in a heartbeat! I have only been here for the Taco Toss experience, and it was a great one. Not too crowded, nice people of all ages, and yummy yummy tacos/nachos! A bar is a bar is a bar to me but a bar with a view is better. The Lighthouse was the jumping off point for our annual beach trip. It is nicely situated right on the bay where you can take in a sunset and on Friday nights get cheap eats at the Taco Toss. I only paid $3 for two tacos and two taquitos! Nice! The Orange Crush was a little more pricey and cost more than twice my whole meal but in 100+ degree heat I was okay with that. It was already packed to the gills by the time we got there at 6ish. I only imagine it got much busier as the evening progressed. I doubt I could have hung around for that but I did appreciate the rare cheap meal. read more

Marriages have been forged from nights at the Lighthouse. I didn't make it back unfortunately this summer's trip to DB. But from my memory of summer's past...it was magical indeed. The mixture of beer sludge and Journey is too special to ignore. But seriously, Lighthouse was my fav bar in DB for many years because of the fun crowd and it just seems like the sand and the actual "lighthouse" made for a great backdrop for fun. Always packed and lots of dancing is what I remember. It seemed like the familiar Bethesda crowd was just transported to DB and it was great. read more

While spending the week in Dewey, I recently spent time at the Lighthouse during the evening hours, and was lucky enough to see a sunset here. The view alone is amazing. The drinks were varied and delicious, and the menu seems REALLY good for seafood lovers - however, if you are NOT a seafood lover, I'd find somewhere else to feast. There isn't much else besides seafood. Tried the broccoli bites app and would have had the mozzarella sticks, but they were out sadly. Next door is the cove, and Rusty Rudder. While I didn't eat at the Rusty Rudder, all three of these bars seem like typical bayside bars - with little setting them apart (besides the music venue at Rusty). read more

Great Friday Happy Hour at Taco Toss, been going there every Friday for years. I get good and hammered before it gets too packed (about 7 p.m.) then I head home and continue my pre-game there with house mates. All in all a great place, reasonably priced food and drink. Only complaint is they need to bring back the HUGE 32 oz. beer mugs from years past, those 12 oz. Dixie cups are for kids. The 32 oz. monster mugs were the best. If you still have one, they will fill it for the old price- at least that's what the manager told me !! read more

What a dump. Slow service, poor quality food, unhelpful manager. Worst restaurant experience I've had in several years. My family (group of 8 with 2 young children) ordered food including 2 all-you-can-eat crab legs. After sitting at the table for over 60 minutes we only received 1 refresh each between the two orders. That is not all-you-can eat. We we complained about the service and food we were rebuffed by the manager. And then on top of cheating me on food they had the gall to charge a gratuity. The view is great for watching the sunset on Fridays while enjoying Taco Toss. Fridays they serve tacos, nachos, and a slew of great finger food for an unbeatable price during happy hour. Some turn Taco Toss into their Friday night early dinner so they can party the night away without having to go spend a fortune on dinner and so they can save their dinero for refreshing drinks during the summer nights. Unfortunately Rehoboth Beach doesn't have any beach bars and their outdoor bars are extremely limited as well so I took the Jolly Trolly down to Dewey Beach where there isn't a boardwalk but there's a decent night life selection. The Lighthouse Bar and Grill literally is at the base of an old deco missioned lighthouse and has a large outdoor deck (with both covered and uncovered sections) right on the water (on the bay side). The bar has a full menu, the only thing I tried was their crab dip which was delicious. Every night the bar has another very good special going on, the regular prices aren't too bad though. Lastly it's worth noting the the bar is flanked by two other proper beach bars, one that has lots of chairs on the beach and one that has beach volleyball and a connecting kayak rental/parasailing business. read more

First off, we had no intentions of eating here, but there was an hour wait @ Que Pasa. We found a table on the water with no wait here. They have some great views of the bay. Tues specials incl $2 Miller/Coors lights and $6 burgers which I did. Service was great! Lindsay was pleasant and attentive. She even informed us of their specials without being prompted, something that usually doesn't happen. The clams were sandy and the crab cake sand was avg. Overall, the service and sunsets make this a more than viable dining option. read more

The beautiful chesapeake bay is stunning, day or night. + Best Orange Crush drinks in all of Dewey. I can't replicate them no matter how hard I try. They are amazingly delicious here. + Have never had to wait to get a seat here, and I've been here all summer long, every year, for the past 4 years.. + You can bring your dog! + Kids enjoy playing on the volleyball sand and bay water - the food SUCKS. I have no idea why they don't change the menu. Year after year it is always the same and year after year it totally sucks. They would make a fortune off me, alone, if they would just serve decent food.
