4 Stars. First night arrival at Dewey Beach, came here for Taco Toss Friday and it was great. Friday night's they have a deck party with a great view of the bay. $1 tacos from 4-9pm, also have hot dogs, nachos and queso, taquitos (beans and rice filling), and beef sliders (2 for $3). So you can get your fill on. Also $2.50 beers. They had an orange crush station with fresh squeezed OJ. I missed out on those. There's a dj playing music. Its a very relaxing, cool party vibe. We got there sort of late at 8pm. By 9:30pm, the place really thins out after the Taco Toss is over. This is a great place to start off the weekend with friends. Can't wait to go back, but want to get there earlier next time. read more

A great spot for a view and to enjoy some drinks but I wasnt impressed with the food. We got Oysters Rockefellar that had been sitting out cause the cheese and toppings were so cold that we sent them back to get reheated. The wings were pretty average and the menu was rather limited at least for lunch. Our waiter was great though and super friendly. The Taco Toss on friday is fun and the tacos are actually ok so thats what you should be coming here for but thats about it read more

I had heard about the Lighthouse at Dewey Beach and while driving down to Ocean City MD to visit friends I decided to stop and see what the fuss was about. Once I found parking I was very pleasantly suprised. It's located behind/beside the Hyatt hotel on the pier overlooking the bay. It was late afternoon and the location is perfect. But the best part was the friendly service and the good food. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and a shrimp appitizer with my favorite - Old Bay. Both were very good and the prices were very reasonable. Two beers and a fantastic sunset later I was on my way but plan to make this a regular stop. read more

Loved it! Great food, awesome view write on the bay. The only things I didn't like were the cocktail and tartar sauces, the just had a weird taste. The fried shrimp is fantastic and only $12 on Sunday! The fries taste fresh cut. The crab dip is perfect, loaded worth crab, lightly seasoned, not too much cheese. The mussels were pretty good, probably about 2 dozen for only $9. read more

For decades this is been the place to go for Friday night happy hour. It's called the taco toss. Just a view of the following sun setting is enough to make it a fabulous evening but friends and homemade orange and grapefruit crushes make it even better experience. Very cheap nachos and even a seafood bar can feed hungry happy hour goers. Live music. read more

We have a place in Bethany and decided to try this place in Dewey. We love seafood as we have roots in New England and so we ordered the steamers and fish and chips. The steamers were good though portion was small. Initially the cod fish looked good, batter was light and cod was plump however as we bit into the fish we started to notice a bad odor. The odor resembled a cleaning solution that you would use to wipe down counters. We hoped it wasn't bleach we were smelling. After bringing it to the attention of the waiter she asked if we wanted to send it back....not sure why you would have to ask and not sure who made the decision but she offered us dessert or glass of house wine to make up for the "issue." Needless to say, very disappointing and won't be back. Too many other options. read more

Memorial Day Weekend. Saturday night. I arrived on Dickinson Street hoping to meet up with some friends who were already inside the Rudder. Not possible. The line for the Rudder stretched out back towards Coastal Highway, and one of the seasonal police officers said the wait was longer than half an hour. No problem. I turned away from the Rudder to look at the entrance to the Lighthouse; as is usually the case, there was no line at all. I texted my friends, asking them to join me at the Lighthouse as I entered the bar. It was crowded, but I quickly made my way to the inside bar (only one person was tending the outside bar, so I made the mistake of thinking the inside bar would have faster service). Three people were tending the inside bar, but as I would soon find out, not one of them was competent. I got a spot right next to the cash register near the dance floor, and there I waited as the bartender on that end floundered. He struggled to use the POS system, he looked confused as other patrons ordered drinks, and, worst of all, he was totally inconsistent in taking drink orders. It was not "first-come, first-served." Now, I could have been more aggressive and yelled at the hapless bartender, as many around me were doing, but I wanted to see how long I would stand there before he would look up from the POS system, see me, and take my order. Well, after about forty minutes, I gave up and went back out onto Dickinson Street. read more

We went in on a cold Monday night and there weren't many people however Brianna (server) did an excellent job with her personality to warm things up for our family. Her timing was just right for our food and the drinks came out quickly. I ordered the seafood platter which was ample and had nice flavor. The cocktail sauce had a slight smokiness to it. The mussels were a full pound with only a couple of broken shells and the broth had a nice amount of spice to it. One of the better ones we had overall during the week. The Philly on the kids menu was huge and my 3 year old didn't get half way through it LOL. Thank you Brianna for giving us one of the best service nights in Dewey Beach. Note: this review was written after we ate at all the restaurants during our visit to Dewey Beach/Rehoboth so this ranks 4/5 for our visit. read more

We stopped here for dinner tonight. We ordered the Buffalo Shrimp for an appetizer and it was excellent! I had the Cuban sandwich and my wife had a burger. They were both outstanding! And we both have to give our server, James an A+. We will be back again before our vacation is over. read more

I wish I had taken a picture of my grilled cheese... It was a lobster grilled cheese and two of my favorite foods are (take a wild guess).... And it was cheddar cheese; very important. The outside seating is really nice. Inside it was very busy and I'm glad we got a table outside for that reason and also because the view was very pretty since you're on the water and there's a beach area where you can hang out too. Hi run-on sentence. Anyway, I definitely look forward to having that grilled cheese again. And the muscles were good too. I got those as an appetizer and the two things I ordered filled me up just the right amount. Can't comment on what it's like in the winter. I'm probably not going to go when it's cold, but it's a great summer spot! read more

Please be sure to read my entire review. Warning it may become lengthy! I have been to The Lighthouse in Dewey several times. I have had some wonderful experiences here however after this past Friday nights events, I have no interest in returning. Last Friday I came to Taco Toss for dinner with my aunt and my 8 year old daughter. We grabbed a nice table on the patio (great view) and they had live music. It was such a great experience and not to mention the great food and drink specials during Taco Toss. We enjoyed it so much, we made plans to return the following weekend (7/3). We had a group of 7 adults and one child. One of the staff, I believe her name was Mary Beth (or something similar) went out of her way for my child. She was awesome!! Thank you for that! Also the bartenders were wonderful. The crushes are delicious even at $8 a piece. However, at one point we went to listen to music and we were asked to leave in a not so polite manner. I took my child out on the deck while waiting on my group who was still inside The Lighthouse Bar. The security came up & was EXTREMELY rude and said "she has got to go! She cannot be here period!" I am not upset that your establishment does not want children on the deck or near the bar, I am very upset with how the situation was handled by your employee. I would suggest some signs about your child policy. I know the Rusty Rudder lets you know that after 9 their establishment becomes a bar. I was then stalked by this bouncer as if I were going to be sneaking back in to the Lighthouse. It was beyond crazy and extremely unprofessional. He shook his head as if I were a terrible person as we walked to the Rusty Rudder. I highly suggest skipping the Lighthouse if you have any children in your party and head over to the Rusty Rudder!! The Lighthouse has not only lost my business for my summers in Dewey but also my Delaware family members who were frequent visitors even during the off season. I would suggest a "clean up" of some of your staff, specifically a couple of your security guys. read more

The Lighthouse - all this for $6 during taco toss - New American Near Me - Dewey Beach, Delaware

You just drove at least two hours to get to Dewey. The "Taco Toss" is where your weekend begins. Grab your housemates, slam some tacos, enjoy the party vibe, and drink your share, then head back to the beachhouse and pregame with the housemates who got in late. THAT'S the strategy. Take it from a Dewey veteran. :) read more

This restaurant has beautiful views. I feel so bad for the server because the place was completely packed and only 1 server for easily over 50 people. He did his best and was very kind. Food was decent, I got the veggie burger and it wasn't great. But I was fed. I would recommend this place for a drinks and apps with views read more

Truly the best thing this place has going for it is a location. The outdoor seating has a beautiful view of the bay and is close enough to the nearby Rusty Rudder but you can hear all the music from the live bands clearly. The staff here is quite pleasant and we didn't have a wait even though it was a busy Sunday night over the Memorial Day weekend. The menu is slightly more involved than your typical bar offering and the burger that I ordered came with a little crabs spread it was actually pretty good. However the fries were terrible and the salad I ordered was tiny and we split a plate of nachos to begin that was simply horrific. No cheese undercooked yet somehow burned on the very top. Just a nightmare. read more

The Lighthouse - My kid hanging off the dock waiting for her burger to arrive - New American Near Me - Dewey Beach, Delaware

We got to the Lighthouse for lunch about noon on Thursday. Standing at the host stand with his back to us was a man who's name we later found out was Dan. What a useless employee this man is. Dan would have rather we fell into the ocean then possibly get us a table. After getting a table, service was slow but bearable. Food was hit or miss. The clams were so salty I could only eat a few. The blue crab and cheese fries were delicious. Cobb salad was fresh with good ingredients but absolutely horrible dressing. Why don't restaurant owners realize that homemade ranch is cheaper and so much better then the bottled glue? Next year on my yearly vacation to Dewey Beach I will not be coming here. More because of Dan's arrogant, dismissive, insulting attitude then the food. Don't waste your time here. read more

I am a local and am happy that the restaurant re-opened this year after the fire. One of the best waterfront restaurants with a fantastic sunset in Southern DE/Ocean City market. The new open air design is really cool. The food is much more upgraded than the previous Lighthouse and the service has been good the several times we went. If you are visiting the beach area, sure worth a view, especially for the views. read more

Regarding specifically the bar early (830pm) on a Saturday night Labor Day weekend: waitresses, hostesses, and servers - rude, rude, RUDE - like I don't want to serve you, I don't want to be here, why are you in my place of "employment" (I use that term loosely) F'U and your little tequila drink too! Great place to have a local craft brew and grab a bite to eat. The food is excellent. We had the scallops for one of our appetizer, they were outstanding! Seared to perfection and served atop a "street corn" salsa and aiol. The Lighthouse - Sunset view from patio. - New American Near Me - Dewey Beach, Delaware

Their cook must have died and they promoted the janitor to the kitchen. Worst food we've had in years tonight. The Crab Nachos (used to be great) we're a pile of chips, a mound of jalapenos, a scoop of crab dip, and a slight sprinkle of cheese tonight. The mussels were OK--until the janitor was able to over salt and oil the marinara sauce to make them inedible. The mac and cheese was so over cooked that it should have been served at a nursing home. Finally, the calamari were over cooked to the nth degree--and the imposter in the kitchen included more breading fragments than pieces of squid to top it off. The janitor was able to make half sense of a hamburger--though he did add a slice of cheese when ordered without. At least we could pick that off. read more

Great food. Good atmosphere. Joey makes great drinks (mudslides) at the bar. My only gripe about this place is the music beyond bad. We're talking, 2pm on a Saturday they're playing the CSI theme song. They would get more business if they played better music. Period. read more

I recently dined here and I will never make that mistake again. The staff that I encountered at this restaurant were by far the rudest and worst that I've ever dealt with. The experience started off fine, the waitress was attentive and friendly and we all placed our orders shortly after sitting down. After around 45 minutes or an hour we hadn't received our food. Our waitress came by once or twice to let us know that the food would be out soon, makes you think she went back and checked on it, right? Wrong, another 20 or so minutes go by and still no food (no starters for the wait, chips, nothing). More time goes by and our waitress lets us know that half of our food was done and it wouldn't be much longer. More times goes by, and still no food...clearly our waitress was just lying. After speaking to two different managers and over an hour and a half of waiting for food, we still had only gotten less than half of the meals we ordered. After almost 2 hours of waiting for food, our meals come, but our waitress had turned extremely rude as if she was mad at us for "tattling" to the manager. The manager was "kind" enough to give us a small discount on our food - and acted as though she was doing us a huge favor - and let us know that it was our choice to wait and that we could have left at any time, so really she was being very generous. Finally when all is said and done and we get our checks, the waitress decided to randomly put people's food onto a few checks, making it incredibly difficult to figure out who owed what, even though she said she could do individual checks at the beginning of the meal. Overall, I don't recommend this restaurant at all and a 1 star rating is generous - but the food isn't entirely inedible as long as you don't mind waiting 2 hours, so there's that. read more

This review is for The Cove seafood restaurant. We decided to go out for our family meal while in Rehoboth Beach. We were told that The Cove had great seafood and a great happy hour. We started off the night having drinks in the bar area, and that was great. Our table was ready right on time for our reservation which was great. However, when we sat down it took awhile for our waiter to come over, and when he did he brought us some water and then said he'd be back. When he got back to the table we decided to order some crabs as an appetizer because we had all decided that we were going to get the special of the night $16 1 lb lobster dinner. After he brought us the appetizer he walked away without taking our orders. A little while later he came to take our orders at which point we were told that they had run out of lobster and that we needed to choose something else. We were not told that there was a substitute available. We then asked to speak to the manager to get some kind of clarity on what consideration was going to be made. The manager did not come to our table until after we had already ordered entrees (significantly more expensive than the lobster). The manager Leigh Anne came to our table, and we proceeded to tell her what our concerns were. We asked her if some kind of consideration was going to be made (i.e another meal comparable to the lobster in taste and price, or a complimentary desert, etc.) at which point we were told that a substitute special was available. We explained to her that we had already ordered because the waiter had not informed us of any substitutions. We asked her if perhaps we could get a percentage off of our meal or a free desert to compensate for the inability to order what we had intended due to the restaurant running out of lobster. She told us that "she was not authorized to give away free food." We went back and forth with her for several minutes with the end result being the same. Overall the food that we ended up eating was good, but the lack of customer service left a bad taste in our mouths... *Also, we usually have multiple families meet up for our annual reunion, and we have all decided that we will not be going back to The Cove ever again* read more

Absolutely love the restaurant/bar/food/drinks/employees. Will I be back? Probably not. It's hard to support a restaurant where the owners of that restaurant don't support their staff. I am a Lighthouse regular (being there with about four or five sometimes even more people times a week). We love the Lighthouse and their staff, from the bartenders Stuart/Tommy/Lo to their Manager Kaitlyn, to all of their servers Lindsey or Angela preferably our favorite. It's hard to see such hard working people not get support from the company they work for. With the new construction, the Lighthouse closed for the first time ever since they've opened..leaving their staff to find new jobs with less than a three week notice. Some of their employees have been working there for years and to go in, hear that they were closing...none of the staff seemed to know why or seemed to be "left in the dark" which if you were the owner, why wouldn't you want your staff to be informed of what was going on? None of them seemed to know what was going on or when they would be open in the Spring. I love the Lighthouse and I have been coming here for about eight years now, but I can not and do not see myself supporting a company that does not give a shit about their employees. I understand the owners want to make extra money with the new construction but they should not lose site of the fact that they make most their money because of what a great job their staff does. My heart hurts for their employees and wish I could tell the owner(s) (i believe there are two or three) to suck it. After losing most of their staff, they will in fact be losing MOST of their customers. Wish the employees the best of luck. I apologize about not really writing a food review, I just do not think people should support a place where the owners don't even know what's going on in the restaurant but decide to make decisions without even thinking about how it will affect their staff. Thanks for listening. Food reviews: The tuna is awesome. Their caesar salad is enough for two! Their burgers are AWESOME. The mussels in a red sauceand the garlic bread they give you are amazing! Drink reviews: Steve..and Amy's (who no longer works there) springwater! Delicious! Believe its Citron, club soda with a bunch of lemons/limes...shaken. Very refreshing. Atmosphere; Right on the bay with amazing view of water! Located right next to the Rudder, kids can play on the beach while you're enjoying a few cocktails. read more

The views are wonderful and the staff is awesome. Be sure to wear Aqua socks in case the floor falls out and you end up in the water. This bar is absolutely gorgeous. Maybe it was the beautiful sunset and the view of the water, or maybe it was the $1 tacos for hours and hours, but I would come back here in a heartbeat! A bar is a bar is a bar to me but a bar with a view is better. The Lighthouse was the jumping off point for our annual beach trip. It is nicely situated right on the bay where you can take in a sunset and on Friday nights get cheap eats at the Taco Toss. I only paid $3 for two tacos and two taquitos! Nice! The Orange Crush was a little more pricey and cost more than twice my whole meal but in 100+ degree heat I was okay with that. It was already packed to the gills by the time we got there at 6ish. I only imagine it got much busier as the evening progressed. I doubt I could have hung around for that but I did appreciate the rare cheap meal. read more

Marriages have been forged from nights at the Lighthouse. I didn't make it back unfortunately this summer's trip to DB. But from my memory of summer's past...it was magical indeed. The mixture of beer sludge and Journey is too special to ignore. But seriously, Lighthouse was my fav bar in DB for many years because of the fun crowd and it just seems like the sand and the actual "lighthouse" made for a great backdrop for fun. Always packed and lots of dancing is what I remember. It seemed like the familiar Bethesda crowd was just transported to DB and it was great. read more
