After the job was done the ceiling fans were making such a hideous sound, we couldn't use any of the fans! So, I phoned a very close friend whom I trusted like I used to trust Rankin, and he had to troubleshoot each fan and basically re-install each one. I sincerely hope this once wonderful company is back on top of their game like they were the first time I hired them. They were really outstanding.

I cut the power to the whole house in a panic, then sat there, not totally sure what to do because it was after 5 PM and rapidly getting dark, but hey. . . at least the sizzling had stopped (tiny victories). Gonzalez Electric was one of the first Yelp hits and once I saw Ed's great reviews, I gave him a call. He answered right away, was kind, listened to what happened, and said he'd be right out. Ed arrived at my place within half an hour and got to work. Ed's diagnosis of what was wrong was clear, professional, and he took the time to answer all of my questions. He even provided options for more economical vs longer term fixes. What I really appreciate though is how fair his pricing was--- the truth is that I was in a bad situation: no power, a sizzling breaker box, and a single woman alone at home in the darkness. He could have literally charged me anything and I would have probably paid it because hey, what choice did I have? But Ed didn't do that. He was VERY fair, he gave me options, he was just an all around wonderful person to work with and I am definitely saving his info for all future electrical work. The first turned out to be the cheapest, the next was the local & town go-to for many, and the last were these folks. I ended up choosing the best communicator, the one with the strongest follow-up and the most reviews (over all platforms) that show consistent reliability and overall customer satisfaction. It was a breath of fresh air to deal with a competent company that came in strong and finished stronger. Shay facilitated the entire panel upgrade from permits to final installation & follow-up in a timely fashion, offering me much needed calming reassurance as needed for my anxiety over what I consider a big purchase. It was brand new in the box, but they said it was damaged and still installed it without discussing it with us first. We were also charged the full installation price. I believe better communication and honesty would have made this a much better experience. I feel they didn't want to let us know about the damage on the door beforehand bc of job scope changed. Definitely feels like we got scammed for 6 floating shelves and holes in our walls. The work itself was good, but the lack of transparency left us with mixed feelings.

With all the hustle and bustle we needed someone to come out immediately to install our washer and dryer as well as a dishwasher. I hopped on Yelp and called all 4 star and above handymen I could find. After trying 4 other places I gave Daubert a call and he was available to come out that day for 175. He took a look at the washer and dryer and said we needed different adapters. For the dishwasher her told us one of the parts was stripped. He told us he had to go pick them up and would have to charge us a little more and I agreed. While he was fixing I asked if he knew how to paint and he replied they did and I asked for a quote once he was done. He came back and put everything together. I came out of the office and noticed the dishwasher looked strange. He had forgotten to install the rubber seals along the edges and the pan on the bottom (all items that were on top of the dishwasher) he told me not a problem and got started taking putting them on. I returned to the office and when I came out he was already gone with 280$. I asked my wife and she informed me he left and said never mind to the quote because he had been hired by another business and he didn't know when he could paint. I noticed that he put the seals on incorrectly, on the outside. Ok no big deal I would call him the next day. My wife started laundry , set the dryer up and we went to bed. We woke up to a terrible smell. There was a huge gas leak coming from the laundry room. We called the gas company and reported it immediately. They came out, shut everything off and told me that whoever installed it should NOT have placed adapters and did it incorrectly. I called Daubert and let him know. He told me he had sprayed the Adapters and had not seen any bubbles. He asked if I could just turn the gas off since he was out of town and couldn't come by to fix it. I told him that the gas company had already done it , I text him the invoice and informed him we would be requesting a refund in the amount of the repair. Since the dryer was installed incorrectly, I ran the dishwasher to see if that was at least good. It wasn't working either. I called Daubert again and let him know, to which he proceeded to ask me "well was it working before?" Which was a silly question. No sir I bought a brand new dishwasher that doesn't work and am paying to have it installed. He let me know he was out of town and wouldn't be back until late. He could come by the next morning. He text me later and said he was still out of town. I asked if he had someone that he could send out. He let me know he didn't have anyone in town that he could trust with the job (which doesn't instill confidence) I asked for a day for him to come back out and he said he could come by the next day at 10 am. He text me back later that night and said not to get mad because he was out of town ( which was odd since I have been nothing but polite) I asked when he could come by and received the same response again. "Tomorrow" He didn't come by and when I text him he let me know he was still out of town and not having a party out there avoiding me. I let him know that at the end of the day we had hired his business to complete two jobs and both were done incorrectly resulting in a dangerous gas leak. I also let him know if he couldn't come by to fix it I would just have someone else come out and fix his faulty installations and he could refund us the money in full. Since he had said he could come out I scheduled painters after him and waiting for him placed our other projects on hold while we are trying to move in. After that day he has not taken my calls or responded to my text. I see that he had another negative review. The only good ones are of him performing small tasks like hanging a curtain or putting a bed together, it seems like appliances are not a part of his skill set. Once the repairs were complete I sent him an additional text letting him know and inquired about our refund. Radio silence Handyman? Nope Honest? Nope Reliable? Nope Now I am out 280$, but I hope this review helps keep others from making the same mistake I did. Take care Yelp family!
