I called the morning to get an estimate on 4 light fixtures that I needed replaced. He gave a good rough estimate and said he could be here in an hour. I was very surprised on how fast and responsive he was. He arrived and immediately went to work, he did look at where I wanted a 2nd patio light and let me know it was going to be a bigger project because the address light wouldn't have had enough power to work with a porch light. So I am waiting on that one till next time. But he was very efficient and diligent on the 2 bathroom light fixtures and the one porch light, price was competitive as well. We had a portion of our electricity go out in the house, and actually, a neighbor is the one who recommended Duke Electric, (by YELPing him) so we called him and he came out. Oh man, what can I say but this company/electrician is the best. Juan has done past work for me, installing a chandelier. He does great work, is very professional, and reliable. I very recently had an issue with Precision Door, they installed a new garage door motor and control panel. Precision Door also drilled a hole through the electrical wires behind the panel which short circuited and damaged the electricity in my garage and patio and sprinkler system. While Precision Door tried to claim they didn't do anything even though I had no electricity after the new installation, Juan calmly explained to them their mistake and took care of everything for me. So while now I will forever tell anybody who asks to never use precision door, I will recommend Duke electric to anyone who needs an honest reliable electrician. read more

The electricity cut off to only half of our home at 4am. During the summer, this is a HUGE problem. I placed a call to Duke's at 8am and Juan called back 5 minutes later. He was personable, knowledgeable, prompt, and professional. He identified the problem immediately and was able to make the necessary repairs. PG&E had to be called as there was a problem on their end (melted meter) that required their intervention. Even so, Juan offered to be an intermediary if needed. Thankfully, it wasn't necessary. I called Duke Electric yesterday to have someone come out and replace an outdoor electrical outlet and switch. He scheduled himself to come out this am and was right on time. He was very polite and professional. He worked quickly and had to make a material run, which raised his fee into the 2 hour slot. It was $250 to have to outlet, switch and box fronts replaced. this guy is a thief and a liar!!! Dukes Electric said 100.00 for service call to change out a thermostat and secure a circuit breaker switch and the 100.00 included an hour and half labor/trouble shoot. He arrived then said it was going to be 150.00 not 100.like he quoted on phone. I reminded him he told me on the phone 100. but he insisted he said it was 150. I'm on a limited income so I know what amount I agreed to but I was desperate to get my new thermostats mounted so first I took him to the electrical box he secured the switch in 2 minutes then I took him inside to replace my thermostat. He looked at it and immediately said, "he didnt do thermostats that I had to hire a HVAC person to install a thermostat" what do you mean you don't do thermostats? why did you even call me back or come to my house when I specifically requested help with a thermostat if you don't do thermostats?? He still wanted to be paid the 150.00 service call fee!!! I didnt want a lien placed on my home so I offered my credit card... He said, "I don't take credit cards only cash, check or Zelle. I explained I don't have that much money in my bank account. He thought for a second and said, "Okay, I'll accept a credit card but it will cost you 4% more." OMG could it get any worse? I looked at Dukes Electric ad and it says they accept credit cards!! it also advertises heater/furnace and Air Conditioning repair, and installation!! that is HVAC work and he told me he doesn't do thermostats that I had to call an HVAC person!!! BTW... I question if he is a has an electrical contractors license as he didn't offer a business card, or a written estimate or even a receipt for his undeserved overcharged payment!! I texted him asking him for his CA Contractors License number and a refund for overcharging me but I was not surprised when he didn't respond. I'm going to file a formal complaint /report his lack of business ethics to the CA State Contractors board and to CA State consumers affairs and I'm going to seek my overcharged payment in Small claims court since he refuses to give me any money back. Don't hire this guy for anything! I know he is the owner because he said he named his business after his dog Duke. His didn't even introduce himself with his real name or have a name tag. His work truck does not have any business name to identify him. This guy and his business called Dukes Electric in Bakersfield CA is a scam!!! read more

Let me start with I have had some work done to my house. The individual I hired was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Having multiple issues with the electrical in my home, I contacted a couple electricians for repair and they could not rectify the problem. I contacted Juan and had a few things to install. A couple of attic fans and a motion sensor. I sent Juan the make and model for my fans per his request. When he came to install the fans he notified me on the proper way they need to mount to function best according to the manufacturer (Juan called the company on his own). He also ran a dedicated power cable to my sub panel to avoid overloading another breaker. Now back to the problems, Juan trouble shot everything. Things are out back together, installed properly, and now I no longer have to worry about coming home to an electrical fire. And when I asked if I could drop off cash to his location at a later time (he already knew where I lived), he said he needed it then and now without considering my work day; and he threatened to "kick my ass" after an honest mistake. I had discussion over phone and text of project scope and my 80 year old mother took care of showing Juan and his team the house and areas where to remove existing fixtures and install 2 chandeliers for dining and living room, 3 pendant lights and 3 hallway lights.
