The Leon Pub is probably Tallahassee's best known hole-in-the-wall, yet it never seems too crowded. If you love a huge beer selection and don't mind the smoky interior, then you need to stop by and grab a brew. I mean, they have Young's Double Chocolate Stout on tap. That's rationale for coming right there.

This is my absolute favorite bar in Tallahassee! It is the epitome of a dive bar so if smoke bothers you, stay far away. If you are fine with the fact that you will leave smelling like an ashtray, this is the place for you. They have an absurd number of beers to choose from that are local as well as from all over the world. They have darts, pool, and fooseball to play or plenty of booths and tables to sit and chat. They dos till allow smoking inside and it can get a bit overwhelming but the beer is absolutely worth it. I have a few favorite beers and they are the only ones in twon who carry it.

a little ramshackle dive from the past. an institution of old tallahassee, and certainly a must-try. years ago, before artisan/craft beers became popular, and easily accessible from anywhere, there was the leon pub. the only establishment where one could boldly venture into for selections from over 300 beers and 47 rotating taps (Lagers, Porters, Stouts, Whites, Wheats & etc.) in 2017, it hasn't changed much. same menu. same everything. if you haven't been here before, know firstly that this place isn't for everyone, certainly not the faint of heart. those that can stand to breathe in cigarette smoke and sit among a hoarders collection of years of boxes and junk covering every flat surface and arcade games like Galaga that rest unplugged, broken and unforgotten will survive. i've heard smokers complain about how thick the cigarette fog is. if you like beer and don't mind smelling like an old infested bar, you have to check it out. the good: it's an experience! it's not loud. at least 1 of the 2 jukeboxes work. i always have fun visiting here. they serve big, inexpensive beers. it's typically not crowded, and the bartenders and service are friendly and efficient. the pool tables work and the regulars are friendly & entertaining. suggestions: go on a Sunday night - Most liters are $5 (during the week, the same drink is $5 for a pint). be sure to visit the bathrooms. there are novels written all over the walls from years of playful, wise and drunk patrons. be sure to check out the side room, there's Foosball & an old telephone booth where you can charge any type of cell phone and mobile device. the bad: personally, not a fan of all the smoking. it reeks, and you will stink when you leave. overall: if you're in the area, be sure to visit at least one time. cheers!

great beer selection, only thing holding them back from five stars is they don't have any wine.

A great spot to hang out and grab drinks with friends or be packed into a cramped bar with drowning…read moremusic in the background. It all depends on the night. Overall, I like Finnegan's Wake. The drinks are strong, well-priced, and there are always a wide variety of brands to choose from. The bartenders are friendly and make you feel like a regular, even if you only pop in once a month or so. That being said, this type of experience usually only applies Monday-Thursday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday are a completely different ballgame. On the weekends, Finnegan's turns from a relaxing Irish pub into a main Tallahassee music venue with Fifth & Thomas, adding swarms of people, a bouncer, seating that you have to fight for, and deafening background noise. Although the bartenders try to keep up, it's hard to to get to the bar and then even harder to have them hear your order. I know it is what it is, but it's hard to enjoy a visit hear on the weekends. Overall then, Finnegan's makes for a relaxing spot with friends on off-nights, but be prepared for what you're getting yourself into on the weekends.

The food at this establishment was quite possibly the worst "Irish" pub fare I have ever consumed…read more The Shepard's Pie was drier than the Sahara and looked like it had just been pulled out of a Marie Calender's box. The Loaded Tots were topped with warmed up ham cold cuts and shredded cheddar cheese, warm but not completely melted, ew. The only redeeming quality of the tots was the beer cheese sauce that I used to drown out the frozen tot flavor. To add insult to injury, I was served a Guinness from a bottle which is a damn disgrace given the place calls itself an Irish pub. It wasn't even a full pint of Guinness! The atmosphere was palatable but the music was some random DJ Press Play big booty remix. Why no Irish music? Or something a bit more on "theme"? And I say theme, because that is all it was, a theme. An idea in the ether that remained unfulfilled in reality, and is only supported by the numbing effect of the spirits on the visitor who must pretend they are in an Irish Pub.
