I was very excited to find a bakery that served the allergy community. I have never posted a review, but just wanted others to know in order to plan better than I did if using this bakery. I had looked at all their cookie pics online and they looked beautiful. I ordered frosted palette cookies for a birthday party to hand out as favors. The first thing that I was concerned about was not getting an invoice until one day prior to pick up. I had asked for the total a week prior and did not hear back. I got worried and emailed back a few days later and was told I would get my invoice later that day. I didn't receive it. Then two days later, I said I still had not received the invoice and the cookies were supposed to be picked up the next day! I finally received the invoice the day before pick up. I ordered frosted cookies and these came predominantly unfrosted with a few colored dots on top for the paint, which was not clearly defined and made them look a bit sloppy. I ordered these for the caliber of work they displayed on their website and unfortunately, these looked like I could have done them myself. For 2.50 a cookie they should have been more creative and fully frosted. I contacted the company and they think the cookies looked fine and costumer service wasn't great in resolving. I am guessing this wouldn't be on their page to display as an example of their work. I was also needing them to be individually bagged, but was never asked, assuming they just do that. They do not, and they never asked me if I wanted that so I had to then bag them all. If you do use them, make sure to ask for that. That being said, the cookies tasted good, so you may have a better experience just dropping in and eating at the bakery, but I would be careful in ordering. read more

2/5 Update: I am very confused by your response to my review. 1. My delivery window was 12-2. When I called the Friday before delivery, I only called to update my contact number. It was the gentleman who answered the phone who asked me if I wanted to change my delivery window to closer to 12. I only agreed to it after he assured me it would be closer to 12 and that I would get a call prior to. When I got home at 11 the cake was sitting at my doorstep. So I am not sure what you mean by "the cake was delivered closer to less than 20 min before my rescheduled delivery time." 2. I emailed you guys about my experience on 1/16, and requested to speak to a manager and also requested a full refund. I had to phone you guys on 1/18 because I had not heard back from you. 3. During that phone call, I again requested a refund for the entire experience, and the manager told me she would only refund me $25 of the $73 I paid (I received the partial refund.) She said she thought the cake was fine and that the cake was delivered at 11. I did not go back and forth about it. 4. I am not sure why the image I provided in my order request was not followed. I spoke to your office twice, once before placing the order via email, and once after. The invoice you guys prepared was a generic invoice that explained icing color, cost and delivery. That's it. 5. My concerns are as outlined in the earlier review, which is what I explained to you in my email and in my telephone call. AMAZING CAKE! We needed an allergy-friendly cake for a birthday party. I've had other egg-free cakes and you could tell you weren't eating a normal cake. This bakery's cake was better than any "regular" cake I've ever had. And we got lots of compliments on the cake. The butter cream was wonderful, the prices reasonable, and fast turnaround (about a week). Only wish they were closer, but we'll definitely be ordering our next cake from here! read more

What a gem! The first time I had cookies from Lemonade I didn't know that they were peanut/tree nut/egg free, I just knew that they were delicious! When they opened a storefront soon after my 3 year old nephew was diagnosed with a severe allergy to all three of those things I was very excited to bring him a few treats. He loved them! A favorite moment was him running up to my dad exclaiming excitedly: "No peanut, no tree nut, and no eggs!" When I brought some of the sugar cookies to a family dinner around Christmas, the nieces and nephews that don't have allergies were bummed that there was only enough for each of them to have one - they love them too! I placed my first custom order last month, for my grandmother's birthday. We wanted shamrocks and hearts to show some love for our favorite Irishwoman! They did a great job with these and I really love that there wasn't a big upcharge to have them individually wrapped. It made having them on the dessert table among other items less stressful! I stumbled upon The Lemonade Bakery while walking around downtown Manassas. My toddler and I went in around 1:30pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy at all. There is no seating inside the Bakery. We got the chocolate cookie, a vanilla cupcake and chocolate cupcake. I absolutely loved everything. Awesome bakery! The food is so good. I had an egg free chocolate chip cookie and it was great. I had no idea until I was done that it was egg free. My kids had the peanut free cupcakes and cinnamon rolls and loved them. This place is right in old town manassas which is a great location. The owner was super sweet also. Ordered a dairy-free cake from here for my son's first birthday. A friend recommended this place to me. What a mistake. I had a fairly simple vanilla confetti cake design. I sent in a picture of exactly the design that I wanted and noted to change the confetti from heart shapes to circles. Everything else the same. The picture clearly showed the baby's name written on the side of the cake in gold writing. Well, when I received the cake it was in Pink writing. My baby is a boy. I was devastated. His party was in two hours and there was no way I could drive out to Manassas to get it fixed. I had a professional photographer coming to the party to take cake smash pictures, the focal point being the cake. I think what was most disappointing to me was when I called the bakery to tell them about the mistake, the lady on the phone, although apologetic, took no responsibility and did not offer any type of resolution. She just kept repeating "the notes don't say which color so I didn't know." Well lady, the notes clearly say to replicate the picture I sent you, so if you didn't know which color you should have defaulted to the color in the picture or at the very least asked me instead of making your own assumptions. They told me they would call me the following week to give me a refund. Well it's next week now and no refund and no phone call. The complete lack of respect and willingness to take responsibility for their mistakes is why I would never recommend this place to anyone. That's not how you treat customers or run a business. Giving two stars only because the cake tasted decent, but nothing to brag about. read more

We had been loyal customers of this bakery and loved having this bakery local until today. I went in to buy several baked goods like I usually do and realized the lady baking (yes, making the food being sold) and another girl were not wearing masks. The cashier was wearing a mask, but the others did not attempt to even putting them on when I was in the building. This pandemic has been tough on everyone and nobody wants to be wearing masks, but it's for everyone's safety and it makes others (especially customers) feel more comfortable. I had to tell the cashier never mind to me buying the baked goods because I simply did not feel comfortable. It's hard to believe that their food is allergy friendly but they aren't conscientious of COVID-19. I'm so sorry, while I love their mission (my son has a peanut allergy), we had a horrible experience for his birthday cake. I called 4 weeks in advance to order a sheet cake. I was told over the phone that I would receive an email confirmation and never did. We stopped in the bakery a few days later and I spoke to someone personally who said that the person who handled orders would be in touch. I never heard anything. I called several days later and never received a call back. I called again, never received a call back. I finally called one last time, begging them to call me and stating that I would be forced to go somewhere else and still no call back. I'm so disappointed, but I can't give them a good recommendation and I certainly won't be stopping in the store anytime soon. read more

We happened to see this little gem while visiting old town and decided to pop in for a little birthday treat. Our family of five each have unique tastes and this delicious smelling bakery provided a lovely array of treats perfect for each! My husband picked the mini monkey bread, our oldest son the cinnabon, our youngest the oatmeal cookie sandwich, our daughter the mini lemon bundt cake and I snagged the last chocolate cupcake with strawberry icing.....I have not enjoyed a cupcake SO MUCH, in YEARS!!!!! The chocolate cake was moist and dense, almost brownie like and the icing was my absolute favorite!!!! Pricing seemed perfectly fair, especially considering this is a private small business making their items in house compared to mass produced and lacking in quality chain store treats. My son has a severe peanut allergy. It is very exciting to know there are bakeries that will cater towards people that have food allergies. However, our experience in using them this weekend , to make a cake for my father turning 75 and my son's joint birthday was disappointing. First, i was double charged for my cake upon pickup. I paid for it at time of ordering it and then they charged my husband again when he picked it up. When I got home and realized this I called them and the person that picked up the phone said her daughter should have checked the computer. They had told us the cake would be ready first thing Saturday morning however she was still decorating it upon arrival when we arrived. The cake was pricey ( which was fine) however I had expected more with the decor. I asked for a fishing cake... well there was a line with a fish on it and that's it. The creativity was minimal. I do not think I will be a repeat customer again. If you are looking for a bakery to come through with flying colors and help you out. This is not the place you should look. Put in an order on a Saturday, and it took two phone calls (on my behalf) to find out they couldn't bake a cake with 5 days notice. They had 5 days, 120 hours, to mix some batter together and throw icing on it. And couldn't do it. On top of that, never replied to the email. Never called me. I had to call twice and email them twice to find out they can't bake a cake with 5 days notice. Again, they probably make good cakes. And if you give them a few months notice I'm sure you can enjoy a great cake. But if you are looking for someone to help you out in a pinch and give them five days notice don't even bother with an email or phone call because it's not going to happen. It blows my mind that someone at an established business/bakery can't find time to bake an 11 x 15" cake with 5 days notice. When.....it's their job to bake cakes. Mind blowing. read more
