This is one of my husband and I's favorite restaurant for something different in Wooster. This was the first time I was not very happy with my meal or our service. My husband had the Smoked Cowboy Pork Chop which he said was absolutely delicious. I had the Spaghetti and meatballs. My spaghetti had a weird taste almost as if the sauce was bad or a tomato that has a rotten spot in it. The meatballs were cold. Our server was not the best at checking or writing things down. My husband ordered a beer that he ended up asking for, which our server said oh yeah I'll go get that. Then returned cause he didn't write it down and forgot which beer it was. Then he returned again to tell him they no longer make the beer. Our bill with our desserts was $100.80. I did not feel the spaghetti was worth $32. I understand that restaurants have to make their money, I'm in the food service business too, but that was not worth it. read more

Reserved a couple of months IN ADVANCE for Easter Sunday brunch to take our son & his friends. We're from out of town and know to make reservations in advance. Received a voicemail a week before telling us 'sorry, we didn't list it but we're closed Easter Sunday'. So, guess we're out of luck. This is no way to run a business. Driving through Wooster, Ohio on a Holiday road trip back to Atlanta, I wasn't expecting to find anything more than the standard bacon and eggs for brunch. To my surprise, my wife and I stumbled upon the Leaf Restaurant and now have a reason to return to Wooster. The Leaf is a cool, more upscale diner right in the charming downtown. We were quickly greeted with a smile and sat. Our server was very kind and personable, quick with the drinks and refills. The menu was quaint and diverse. Often diners have menus that are too lengthy and everything looks petty much the same. Not at the Leaf. We started with the Brussel Sprouts...WOW! The portion was huge and the perfectly crisp Brussels were topped with my new favorite thing in the world, bacon aioli. The hint of maple added the perfect touch. These are a must. We order these often in the South and they are never this delicious! I gave a thumbs up to the head chef, Gina. Her team can be seen working with smiles and efficiency in the kitchen. For our main course my wife had the fried chicken sandwich and I had the wet breakfast burrito. Fried chicken sandwiches are basically part of the Southern diet and this one didn't disappoint. It was very tender and laying over top of crispy pickles and a bed of lettuce. What really made it was a garlic aioli spread that could compete with the bacon one we had earlier. The sweet potato fries with maple syrup were the perfect mix of crispy on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside. My wet burrito over a bed of home fried potatoes was a feast. It was stuffed with eggs, veggies, and most importantly melt in your mouth tender pork. I was stuffed, but kept eating it. Finally we sampled the fresh crepes for dessert. The crepe was perfectly made with fresh crème inside. I would devour just a bowl of that crème alone! After sending more compliment to Chef Gina, she came out to greet us and thank us for coming in. She was so humble and you can tell she loves what she does, and has the talent and creativity to back it up. The owner, Sam, also came to say hi and they all made us feel like family. I wish I didn't have to get back on the road because the bar menu also looks spectacular. Head to Wooster and The Leaf. These local businesses need your support. We can't wait to return! read more

We stopped here for breakfast during our visit to Wooster. Cute place to dine, kind of an upscale diner-style. It's not often that you can go somewhere for breakfast/brunch with a bar that's open. This place is clearly enjoyed by the locals as it was busy. Unique and fun menu, all 6 in our party enjoyed their meals. French toast, chicken and waffle, breakfast bowl-they were all very good according to the people in our party. There are very limited options for plant-based and/or gluten free unless you like manufactured food like vegan eggs, vegan cheese. Service was good, friendly waitress, food did not come out super fast but time was reasonable considering how busy they were and the quality of food-most if not all is made in-house (eg., they breaded and fried their own chicken). We enjoyed the speciality scones. We would come here again. read more

We were here for breakfast and as much coffee as we could put into our slightly hungover bellies. It was clear from our visit that not only would we be getting good food, but that it'd be good to return here for dinner and drinks. I had the Wooster South bowl which was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The only very minor negative was that the chicken was one part over-done... but who's going to really notice under that gravy! My other half had the Meat Sweats which lived up to its name. We were incredibly lucky to get in when there was ANY available tables. It's clearly popular, so plan on a bit of a wait. We had a good time yesterday; their food is generally pretty good. I like their shrimp. We ordered a Caprese Fruit Salad and the Calamari. The salad was pleasant but could have used more fruit and less meat. Very minimal pieces of fruit. The prosciutto was not edible. I love prosciutto, but this wasn't cured or cured enough. The prosciutto tasted raw, and the texture was way offbeat. My companion gagged. The calamari was perfect. Lightly breaded. Many people might like the aioli on top, it was sweet, and I thought they drenched too much over the Calamari. I couldn't get around the sweetness. I prefer spicy. Their wines are excellent. I would order the shrimp again and a salad. Next time, I will order the Calamari without the aioli, the shrimp, and a salad. read more

I was visiting Wooster for work and was recomended to give The Leaf a try for dinner. It was FABULOUS! Everything just fit together perfectly, the staff, the bar, the food, the ownership, just everything. I loved the decor and how beautiful everything was. I wish my wife had been with me to enjoy the fried green tomato tower! It was one of the most perfect green tomato dishes I've ever tasted, and I have been in the South for 30+ years. You must go now. The Chef is amazing and she really knows how to put feeling into her food. The pulled port grilled cheeds was also TDF! I've been here a few times for brunch in the past few months. The interior is gorgeous and super modern, definitely an upgrade from the old Parlor. Service is always kind of iffy, the servers are genuinely nice and talkative, they just seem a little too busy and overloaded/short-staffed . Foodwise, I've only ever tried the vegan omelette, so my dining experience here is kind of limited. I would rate the omelette a 4/5 though, it could be seasoned better but I love the inclusion of the black bean burger and the avocado on top. The breakfast potatoes that come with it are always exquisitely seasoned though! I wish I could get the seasoning blend they use at home haha. I've also subbed the potatoes for fruit on the side before and got a good portion of berries so thats also really nice as an option. Also a warning: the coffee is really gross here. My friends and I have tried both the brewed coffee (bitter and burnt tasting) and their "lattes" (which were super watery?? just gross). We would recommend the water it comes in a super fun glass. I love that they actually have a vegan option (the vegan omelette), but I wish they would expand upon that and add some more lunch/dinner items that are vegan. I only ever come here when I'm forced to go to brunch with my friends, because there's literally like one thing I can eat here. If they had more options I could definitely see myself coming here more often. I'd love to see what the chefs could come up with since they seem really creative! read more

Today is the first time in my life that I actually walked out of a restaurant for how bad the service was. My friend & I checked in at 11:40. We were seated at 11:42. I was only aware of the time at first because I glanced at my texts while we waited. We sat there at our table for exactly 15 minutes. We weren't offered a glass of water. We were never even greeted by a server. We were sitting at the front of the restaurant, directly behind the hostess stand. The hostess should've been aware we weren't being served, but she didn't alert a server. At one point, a waitress did walk up to the couple seated at the only table next to us--she asked them if they were enjoying their meal, then walked away. She paused and glanced back at us, then kept walking the opposite direction. It was such a bizarre experience. After 10 minutes, I was feeling conflicted about whether to flag someone down or leave. My friend & I decided to wait until the 15 minute mark and leave if the waitress didn't come. Once the clock struck 11:57, we left and walked across the street to The Spoon. Based on this experience, I'm not sure if I'll ever return to this establishment or not. read more

Last week my wife and I had lunch at The Leaf with a friend in Wooster, OH. I had the Lox platter and she had soup and salad. Everything was very good. They included a large portion of lox with a small everything bagel and all the fixins including lettuce, tomato slices, etc. She had soup and salad which were both tasty. My family found this restaurant on Sunday for brunch. We were very pleased! The service was wonderful and friendly. The food was delicious and there were plenty of choices for everyone. I seldom complain about food and am known to try to power through a meal, however 3 out of the 4 meals served to our table were horrible. I ordered a pasta primavera dish that had a brown sauce of some kind that was tasteless- I could not find the pasta amid the sauce--it was like an Angel hair that was so overcooked it was congealed. There were tiny bits of zucchini but it was hard to find under the brown sauce. My boyfriend's gnocchi apparently was boiled with the zucchini and served in a watery bowl of water/juice with a lump of burrata on it. No flavor. I think the owner should speak to the chef who cooked the night of 8/17/23. With awesome food like that served at City Square restaurant, I will never go back to The Leaf. Also, the bartender needs to be educated as the Sauvignon Blanc is not even close to a "buttery" Chardonnay! read more

I have followed this new restaurant on FB since it opened. Dishes always looked good and the remodel looked good. I talked another couple into trying it with us. We made reservations because they posted they were suggested. We arrived and the place was not even half full on a Thursday. The restaraunt was nicely remodeled so we reviewed the menu and ordered. 2 of us ordered salt and vinegar potato chip encrusted walleye and the other 2 ordered chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and French onion soup. We also ordered contains which was the best part if the meal, other than the glass was very annoying. See picture. The walleye was undercooked. Not crunchy at all. My husband sent his back and ordered a chicken sandwich. My chicken sandwich was perfect but the fries were cold and onion soup was like Lipton with onions added. My friend's chicken was way over done, almost burned. My husband's replacement was under cooked and sent back again. They did remove his sandwich and walleye from our check and it was still $60 before tip. Place is over priced with poor quality of food. We will not be back. read more

Loved the atmosphere for a weekday lunch. The service was excellent and the menu has such a great variety. The highlight of our meal was the Cuban sandwich which had such great flavor. From the moment we got in the restaurant I had a feeling we wouldn't want to come back again and I'm disappointed that turned out to be true. The hostess was rude, had a weird attitude and didn't seem like she wanted to do her job and was annoyed it was busy (in a restaurant shocking I know) also asked if we had a reservation when this isn't a fine dining restaurant it's a mid brunch spot. We've been here dozens of times but will never be back. I work too much to want to waste my free time in poorly ran restaurants. read more

Went for the first time today after driving by it hundreds of times. I was pleasantly surprised! The decor is much more modern than I expected, the food was not too greasy/oily, and the limited staff did a good job ensuring their clientele were taken care of. years ago, while i still lived in Wooster, my mom and i went to The Leaf - in it's former form - for what was one of the worst lunches of my life. i never had a desire to go back. today my wife, Danielle, wanted "something different" and I started driving aimlessly and eventually ended up in Orrville and was running out of places to try. Danielle looked in Yelp for somewhere to try nearby and, having seen that The Leaf had recently been reworked and was getting good reviews, decided to give it a try. i'm happy to report i'm glad we did. i could not have expected our brunch to be so good. Danielle had the Chicken and Waffles sandwich w/ pub fries. for some reason, i had the Hair of the Dog omelet (i don't like chorizo, cheese or eggs all that much - dumb, huh?). to my surprise, the omelet was FANTASTIC and much of that was due to the flavor of the cheese. my omelet came w/ breakfast potatoes - which weren't terribly great, but weren't bad either. they were, though, a bit too salty. Danielle's sandwich was delicious. I think I'll get waffles if we go back. it's a cool looking place now - instead of the old, dated diner-ish look of the previous incarnation. i guess it took me moving out of town in order for Wooster to start catering to things i might like - which i always find weird for a college town. when i lived there 10 years ago, there was literally nothing to do there and if you wanted a decent meal you'd have to leave town. now there are all sorts of places popping up downtime. there's also decent "eye-candy" working there and if i was younger, single and still in that area, it might be my go-to spot for a drink and a sandwich or whatever. the only downside of the place was that when we walked in 2 girls work sitting at the bar. i'm thinking they were recently off the clock and as a result let us just stand at the door while waiting "to be seated." when i worked in a restaurant in my teens we'd have been lectured if we just sat there while customers were waiting. young people today have the world by the balls and don't have to do anything they don't like and we're barreling towards hell as a result. c'est la vie. if you're in the area and haven't tried it, give The Leaf a shot. i doubt you'll be disappointed. read more
