Maggie was the welcoming receptionist and she provided a gift t-shirt to the birthday girl (part of the BD package) and got everyone signed in and made sure they had all of their waiver forms signed haha.  This place isn't cheap (ballpark $600 for the birthday package per the daughter) but it seems you get what you pay for - a clean and well maintained facility, a staffer to direct the kids' activities and help serve food, plenty of fun ninja activities to choose from, a private room (there are 2 of them) for the birthday meal, and pizza (by Viccino's, a local favorite anyway) and fruit provided from a local vendor, plates and utensils, and most importantly - a big and grand blast of a time for all the kiddo participants and us by-standers as well.  Apparently, you can also bring your own food in, but there is a healthy $25 per entree charge for doing so, and besides it's an additional hassle.  There is a downstairs and upstairs party room and both are nice and spacious.  One of my grand-darlings has been here several times as a birthday party guest, and she has always had a great time.  I didn't pay, but I still can say a big thumbs up for this place!

Its hard to drop him off, I want to get out and participate in the activities.Where to begin...well first off its super well run by a well-trained friendly staff. They help with everything including applying sun screen at beginning of the day. Kids are assigned to a coach with same age kids, and let me tell you these coaches are hand-picked- super nice, love kids and know their sports. You can tell many of them play elite sports themselves. The camp is well programmed with different themes each week- basketball one week, Olympic week the next. Competitive but in good way. Lunch is really good- food kids like to eat like Popeye's chicken, pizza, and Fridays they grill hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids. Pickup and dropoff is fast and easy and location right off the highway- or there is bus pickup from many Northside locations. We moved to Park Ridge but Jack insisted he attend camp regardless (he met his best friend there) so Mom and Dad take turns driving him an hour each way sometimes (so worth it). They have a great photog who sends out super cool videos each week. Field trips to Cubs games and water parks. Its so great we usually sign him up for most of the the summer, and take advantage of the early bird pricing before January 1st each year. We cannot wait for the camp to start this summer, its hard to imagine a summer sports camp as good at this one. Its hard to summarize it all here but if anyone has questions, please call or text me at 773-805-9305 for honest straightforward info.

From the moment you arrive, you feel the energy, the care, and the genuine love for kids that radiates from everyone, especially Danny. He's not just running a camp--he's building a community. Kind, accommodating, and endlessly thoughtful, Danny treats every camper like they're his own. It's rare to find someone so personally invested in making sure every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. The camp itself is a dream for any sports-loving kid. Whether your child is trying something new or honing their skills, the coaches and staff create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where confidence and friendships flourish. And for us parents who suffer from a little FOMO during the day--don't worry! The team does an amazing job capturing the magic and posting photos that truly reflect the joy and excitement of camp life. (Okay, maybe we wish there were even more pictures--but that's just because every moment looks so fun!) Hi-Five isn't just a camp--it's a place where kids grow, laugh, and make memories that last. We're so grateful to be part of it and can't wait for many more summers to come!

This past week my son and his friend took a break from their regular day camp to do a week (half days: 9am-12pm). The theme was Cool Science & Sports Physics. I didn't get a ton of details about what they did on a daily basis, but they came home with huge smiles and projects they were proud of. They finished the camp today and eagerly said they would be open to doing another week soon. I haven't done the full day yet because that seems like a lot of science for one day, but the kids I know who stay all day love it. It's very organized, educational and fun! Both my daughter and son love it and I'll likely send my little guy when he's old enough. They do tend to clog up your inbox with promotional emails once you sign up, but guess that's also good to keep on top of the many options they have to sign up for. Thanks for another fun week!

Now I don't care about her coming home everyday with a project completed or even every week. I have a BFA myself so well understand art as a process. And less than finished projects I thought she would be provided with guidance on certain skills that need to be learned and which can cause many kids to give up on creating art at her age because they just don't know how to do something. Their website makes it seem like they have distinct classes throughout the day. Instead my daughter worked on drawings of pokemon throughout the day with little to no instruction or guidance. She did mention day 2 someone helping her learn how to layer colors on a preprinted coloring page. I am so disappointed and angry and feel like this place misrepresents what they offer. If they were up front about creating an environment for kids to be self directed with art without a published schedule at least I'd know what I was signing up for. When I spoke with the person in charge (manager? owner? She never introduced herself) I was told that my daughter had selected to sit by herself and that they provide a stress free environment for creating art. I would have liked to be informed that this was happening so I could check in with my daughter but instead I was only told this when I expressed anger at wasting my money. Feel free to give them your money if you'd like to spend it on glorified babysitting.

It's been fascinating to see how so many businesses have offered similar services to kids (& adults) online. And without having to worry about carpooling, sibling schedules etc she's able to squeeze even more into a day than usual. Flavorpot is currently offering virtual cooking classes on Tues and Thurs for just $5. They send ingredients around ahead of time so that you can be well prepared in time for the class. My daughter signed up for the flatbread pizza class this past Tuesday perfectly timed at 5pm so she could make dinner for the family. All info from ingredients to zoom was clear ahead of time. We had a little trouble signing in since the zoom was under my name instead of my daughter's so i suggest changing that ahead of time. This wasn't quite as interactive as the other cooking classes my daughter has been taking virtually (mostly thru outschool). For FlavorPot's class Chef Cristina demonstrated and there was a helper who was fielding questions from chat to make sure all went smoothly. My daughter definitely needed my assistance a few times so it wasn't really a class they can take on their own. After a lot of fun, big mess and we even set off the fire alarm she had flatbread pizza for dinner. She loved it- ate up every last bite with her brothers. It was a little on the burnt side (imo), but they didn't seem to mind She really liked the class and asked if I would sign her up for them twice a week. Twice a week is a lot since it's work for me and a big mess, but we will definitely plan for more in the future.

The toddler (24-36 months) program is a parent tot class that teaches basic soccer skills by using fun age appropriate games. Class is 60 minutes and my twins lose interest after about 45 minutes so I think a shorter class might be better. That said the coaches are very engaging and they love going and getting high fives after scoring. My 3 year old loves her class as well. I'm especially impressed with coach Adam who manages to draw my (extremely shy) daughter on the field and have her playing happily in a matter of minutes. If he sees her starting to wander towards me, he immediately refocuses her. At this age they still focus on skill building and often separate the kids into small groups for more individualized attention. This is a high quality kids program that shouldn't be missed.

If you or your kids want to play soccer look no further than Little Legends! My son & daughter have both enjoyed Little Legends. Over the past 2+ years I have enrolled them in their practice clinics, game clinics & camps. What I love about Little Legends, there are so many things; To start Coach Tony & Coach George the owners - they are truly the Nicest Guys! They are experienced soccer players & coaches & they love what they do & have a true gift for working & bonding with children (toddler & up). Their staff also awesome (special shout out to one of our favs Coach Danielle) - it's true what they say good people attract good people! All the other coaches have played soccer & have been trained how to teach & coach soccer. Their clinics are really affordable & they offer great opportunities to make up missed clinics/classes. They teach your children soccer skills, sportsmanship skills & as a result soccer is fun! There is no denying that the Little Legend's "real" coaches have so much more impact on teaching skills than parent volunteer coaches as in AYSO. Lastly, yes your kids are learning but this is still a super friendly & fun atmosphere which is enjoyable for the kids & parents! I had my daughter in AYSO for 3 years she never really got a grip on the game, lots of running around but not really skills or even a true sense of the rules. Coach Tony told me "have her play with the boys & she will become a better player." Well, despite my concern, he was exactly right. She took a 9 week session with them & she was on fire! She Loves the game, confident, fearless & continued until she was too old for their clinics. My son also loves Little Legends it's always a highlight of his week! We even had a Little Legends Soccer Birthday which was fantastic too!
