12/13/2018: Lamb's menu; however, I just wanted tea.

12/13/2018: After walking almost FOUR MILES from Hyde Park to The Lamb Pub, I was thoroughly exhausted! I had no idea my son-in-law would put me through the runs, i.e., "military exercise" hoofing through London! I must state drinking the English high-tea was most welcoming and warming my hands from LONDON'S bitterly cold weather gave me a sense of respite and a reprieve hiking through the precarious hustle and bustling traffic. Aside frequenting the Manor Pub located next door to Safestay Elephant & Castle, The Lamb was my FIRST authentic pub I've visited while visiting London. The only off-putting was climbing stairs in order, using the ladies' bathroom; the WC was separated from the washroom after using the loo . . . Obnoxiously obtuse indeed. Aside, when the hot H2O within the tea pot became empty, I was expecting the Lamb Waitstaff visiting the table refilling the teapot with hot H2O; however, that never transpired so, I had to arise asking for hot H2O for the teapot . . . Thus, three stars submitted for no table service.

Very classic pub vibe. the service was A+ all around, very nice and attentive. We ordered appetizers and fish & chips. Everything was delicious. Overall, this was a lovely experience from the cool architecture of the building, the great service & excellent pub food.

I confess I've been coming to this, perhaps my favorite London pub, for decades. Lately it's been on Sunday afternoons, when you'll find the place fairly quiet, except perhaps for the locals all coming in with kids in permabulators. It's a snug, cozy place, and it provides that so reassuring illusion that there are some reliable things in this world that just never change. If I recall correctly, there are six casks usually available, with a the Young's special bitter being my favorite. The fish and chips (I think the potatoes were actually roasted, an improvement over fried - and huge piece of fish - halibut?), with mushy peas that had a nice taste of mint. If you're in the Bloomsbury neighborhood, this pub should not be missed (and for us old timers, it seems especially nice that it keeps going, given the sad demise of the legendary Sun pub that was down the street years ago.)

Decided to stop in here for a pint and British pub food before visiting the Charles Dickens museum close by. We stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon and the pub was pumping with energy and local folks talking and enjoying a pint. We found a booth and ordered the fish and chips, seafood pie and creamed leeks. The fish and chips were outstanding - perfectly crispy and fresh out of the fryer. The seafood pie was presented beautifully but needed a little more seasoning and flavor. I never tried creamed leeks before so was excited that this was on offer so worth a try if you are curious but not nearly as good as creamed spinach. Their cider was one of the best I've ever had. This historic pub earned a 5 because the decor, ambiance, cider and fish and chips were perfect.

Decent selection and good range of unusual draughts (Adnams, Young's). Upper restaurant was closed when we were there around 10 on a Thursday night. Not very many guests at all, but I kind of like empty English pubs. You feel at ease. I like the interior - even an old phonograph (or something like that whatever it is called). I would definitely go back next time in London, and it is definitely a stop on a crawl!

The Lamb is a nice quiet pub with quite an unusual bar:seating area ratio. There is nothing particularly special about The Lamb, but it is always busy in the evenings, as it serves as a local to Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Barrister's Chambers around it. The seating areas line the bar area, and make for a cosy atmosphere, but not ideal for large groups. Even in the winter you can find people drinking outside, many of them waiting for a table at Ciao Bella next door. The staff are friendly and service is usually quick. There is a fairly good selection of drinks, with nothing particularly unusual. Overall I would recommend The Lamb for a quiet night out with friends, if you live or work near here, it makes a pretty good local.

The Lamb is small pub on the end of Lambs Conduit Street; an interesting street with lots of independent stores. The pub, as people have mentioned, has quite an unusual bar, which can make you feel as though you are ordering your drinks through the railings of a staircase. Nonetheless, they do have a good selection of beers and the staff are polite and helpful. Yet, what the pub definitely has in character it also loses due to the odd seating which can make it hard to relax.

Cosy pub with great little beer garden. We visited on an early summer day. Very polite, quick service with tasty food! Children were welcomed by publican. Nostalgic place in a lovely neighborhood.

Quite expensive for just ok food . Too dark even for a pub . Don't think come back again unless I don't have any other choice .

Given the location, I knew it was probably a tourist trap and I wish to avoid those usually but had no time so stopped in on a Monday afternoon for lunch. I'm so glad I did! I was in London only briefly and had yet to try proper fish and chips and I was definitely WOW'd. I've only had this in America, and this was definitely better than anything I've ever had. When it arrived on my table, I could feel the heat from the plate -- that's how scalding hot and fresh it was, and I loved that! The cod was absolutely massive, a thick portion of fish deep fried with the skin on within an incredibly crunchy beer batter. There were pieces of bone in it, but no bother, this only made it seem more fresh. The chips (thick cut fries) were perfectly crispy and both the fish and chips were insanely delicious with a bit of salt and malt vinegar (which I had to request by walking up to the bar). The dish came with a tartar sauce and ketchup, but tasted way better with the salt and vin. I absolutely love that the fish and chips also came with mushy peas, whereas most pubs only give you fish and chips alone. The dish was also very well priced at 9.95 GBP, and I was able to use my credit card, rounded up to 10 GBP because they have a 10 GBP minimum for using cards. I appreciate that this restaurant had free wi-fi, which I found out by asking my waiter, who quickly provided the secret code for me to use. In America you would never ask your server for this but I noticed that nearly every hotel and restaurant I visited during my 11-day tour of Europe offered wi-fi. Good on them, because how else would I check in to a restaurant on Yelp and shower them with praise and circulate promotional foodie photos on Instagram? During a weekday, many workers nearby flood this place to grab a pint during lunch....now, why don't I work in London? I would give this place five stars based on the food alone, but I am giving it four because I wished the service had been more attentive, as I had to go up to the bar to get malt vinegar and also to ask to pay my bill. I understand service in Europe is more laissez-faire than in America, but since this is a tourist spot I would have liked to be checked on by the staff at least once during my meal, and certainly to be presented with the bill. Note: They also serve Sunday roast dinner for 9.95 GBP on Sundays

Being from the states I am not as familiar with all the UK brands --- but they seem to offer a wide variety of beers (lots on tap) and cocktails. TIP: I recommend hitting this place before 5:30 on the weekdays as the happy hour crowd fills this join up.

We arrived just after the work day, and the crowd was buzzing just outside. We did the self-seating option indoors, and sat down to a great view of the Thames river, as we pondered our meal choices from the menu. The location is just great. For a leadoff drink, I had to go with the house cask ale, which was the Fuller's ESB, a drink I've been enjoying since the 1990's, and it delivered as expected. I went with an order of Sausages with mashed potatoes and peas...it doesn't get much more classic than that, and I was happy with it, especially with the quantity (3 sausages!). Wifey was on the hunt for a meat pie, and she went with the Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie, which I can report was wholeheartedly approved. One of the better pies we've had on the overall trip, and the best we had at a pub location. The overall vibe of this pub is exactly as you might picture it, and we weren't disappointed with any aspect. Service, though not overly patient (hey - they were busy), was competent and pleasant. Cheers!
