The British Bulldog Pub - Cheese burger and fries with a pint of Pride #LondonPride

When the British Bulldog calls itself a "pub", I feel like it's one of the very few places that takes that moniker to heart. Even though it's located in somewhat of a strip-mall setting, once you walk inside the building, you're amazed by the authenticity of the inside. Personally, I loved the brick and wood that made up the interior, which gave the restaurant the realistic "pub" vibe that I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, I loved the framed, and hanging, soccer flags, which was a marked contrast to the professional and college sports paraphernalia at your typical American sports bar. I walked in kind of late, and just sat at the bar, which still made for a great experience. Even though it's an English restaurant, they still had a lot of the popular local and domestic beers, to go along with the more English-themed beverages. I asked if they had any "sours", and the bartender was kind enough to offer me a sample of the two (2) sours that they had on tap, and let me choose the one I liked the most. The aforementioned bartender was great, and I overheard him offering some folks from out-of-town with recommendations for nearby late-night spots and high-quality local joints. Finally, my simple order of chicken tenders and fries was pretty good, and I thoroughly enjoyed their steak-cut "chips," or French Fries. All-in-all, I waited too long to try out the British Bulldog, which was a great pub experience that definitely lived up to my high expectations. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and in turn, would recommend it to anybody else!

My husband is Scottish and I'm welsh so we definitely come for the food. It's all good! I've had the baked Brie, the cabbage, the sampler, fish and chips, and the pasty. Always gives great British bake off vibes. I love it! Tons of parking. The best service I have had in Columbia in agree. Will be back, probably tonight!

Suitcase Social Club Dispatch No. 47: "Timmy vs. The Lumberjacks"…read more If you've ever wondered what happens when a grown man with sales quotas, a mild caffeine imbalance, and the attention span of a golden retriever discovers competitive lumberjack sports streaming on the bar TV... well, allow me to submit Exhibit A. I wandered into Main Street Bar & Eatery for what was supposed to be a "quick bite between quotes." Instead, I became spiritually welded to a barstool while the TV blasted a man in flannel yeeting a chainsaw like it owed him money. And the fried pickles. Good grief. Those things ambushed me. One minute I'm thinking "I'll just have a snack," and the next I'm waist-deep in a basket of fried circles of temptation, crunching my way into oblivion while pretending to "work." My laptop was open, sure, but let's not lie to ourselves -- I got absolutely nothing done. I was too busy yelling advice at professional lumberjacks like I'd trained for this moment my whole life. Tim the Suitcase Regular Rating Breakdown: * Atmosphere: Cozy but with the unpredictable energy of a log-rolling final * Food: Fried pickles that could ruin a man's productivity in the best possible way * Service: Friendly, fast, and kindly nonjudgmental of whatever fever dream I was living in * Entertainment: 10/10 involuntary lumberjack immersion If you're looking for a place where you can lose an entire afternoon under the noble banner of "I swear I'm still working", Main Street Bar & Eatery is the arena. Suitcase Social Club™ stamp of approval: Earned.

My husband and I were impressed by the meat and cheese plate, that additionally included pickles, apricot jam, and dried cranberries; highly recommend choosing the German meats and cheeses, I was hesitant but they were delicious! For entrees we had the Rachel sandwich and the bratwurst, with sides of red cabbage and Brussels sprouts. I didn't finish the sandwich because of its size and took half to go. The sprouts were fresh and well seasoned, and my husband was still talking about the red cabbage a day later. The German beer list is extensive and the server recommended a couple to me, and let me taste before deciding which was helpful. The people who work here are kind and seem like a little family. In fact the owner came around at one point to individually cheers with people which was cute. We really enjoyed the warm intimate atmosphere and would love to go back.
