Liked this place a lot. What's not to like with an awesome sunset setting the perfect ambiance for drinks and dinner? The chicken wings appetizer were delicious. Recommend those highly. Food was generally good; the tacos needed some seasoning or flavoring as they were kind of bland. My husband's chowder and crab cake sandwich were very good as was my nephew's burger. 3 of us came here to grab a light lunch on the beach. They have a really nice setup with alot of tables under a pavilion and umbrellas to give you nice shade. We ordered just a bunch of appetizers to eat. The coconut shrimp, grouper bites, chips and dip, and calamari. I have to say all was cooked excellent and really nice sized portions. Great location right on the beach. Great fresh grouper. Amazing place to sit and watch people. Free parking if you eat at restaurant ( very tough parking for beach access ). The real deal breaker was the food. Coconut shrimp came out over fried and dark colored, coconut rice was cold, as well as the fresh vegetables that consisted of cabbage, collards and 3 blueberry sized carrots. Fried shrimp plate ordered by another guest in our party also had cold rice and fresh vegetables. 3rd guest in our group ordered a blackened grouper sandwich that was also cold, maybe undercooked? After 10 mins of trying to flag our server down to let him know the food came out cold and we didn't want the sandwich at this point, he said ok I'll talk to the manager to take the sandwich off the bill (as this was the one item that we weren't willing to consume anymore of) and walked away. He immediately comes back to our table and requests to take the sandwich away for "his manager to look at it". He came back with a basket of fries for her dinner. At this point the entire experience was comical and we just wanted to get the hell out of there. Very very sad evening, I'm not sure what's taking place there hygienic wise or in the kitchen, but wow!! The mixed drinks we had were not even close to a hit, weak and very expensive. For the shrimp, sandwich, and 3 drinks $90, very pricey, to be honest I never looked at the bill breakdown I just paid and I still tipped the waiter good anyway because I'm sure it's not his fault. Amazing experience. It started with out waiter forgetting our drink menu. Then suggesting water (failed to mention they were $4 bottles of water) that we ended up returning. On the menu is shows a beautiful Lox bagel however when it came it was dissembled and you had to build it yourself for $20. The grits were so disgusting, watered down and no flavor, even salt wouldn't help. Then we also had a pregnant woman who ordered first, she ordered a fruit bowl with honey and tajin. The fruit bowl was forgot about and when it came it also didn't look like the menu, it was dry gross fruit without any tajin or honey. When it was time to get the check she came over and announced that since we were a "large party" (7 and a toddler) she couldn't split the check, that a 20% gratuity was automatically included (no wonder she didnt care about hospitality), and loudly announced the total (over $220). She never showed us a receipt before asking for payment. Electronic payment device did have a "gratuity included" disclosure but interestingly enough the disclosure was for "large parties" no set number. A very subjective way to charge. I dunno maybe we came on a good day but this place was legit! The hostess hates her job which was obvious and she was not giving off the same energy as the restaurant and other servers were but I only dealt with her negative vibes briefly so enough about her. The rest of the vibe, the food, our waiter, and the location was great! We went for lunch this past Sunday and there was a Reggae band playing which was really good by the way! I will echo the same sentiments on the pricing as it is pretty steep but then again what would you expect for the prime location and being right on the beach? And the first thing my wife said after finishing her food was, "I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was!" which I totally agree. Yes the food is expensive but it was really good and very large portions. She got the lamb gyro and I got the blackened grouper tacos with coconut rice and it was really tasty. I wanted a coconut to complete the experience but they ran out so I got a Pina colada in one of their pineapples instead. It was $25 and yes very expensive but it's my money and I can choose to spend it how I want to especially when I am on vacation lol. Yes there was a slight smell of a mix between the ocean, trash, and maybe the bathroom but it was not overwhelming and it's something you would come to expect from a restaurant with outdoor seating only and being right on the beach. We started out paying $50 to park / beach access in this place's lot. We walked across the street and thought this was a slice of paradise. We had lunch at the bar, and continued buying drinks, after about 2 hours of buying drinks and $300 later at this business, this old man walks up to us aggressively, and the man had a thick accent. I was in disbelief as this old A-hole treated us like the scum on the bottom of his shoe. There was no sign at the little tiki table we were at adjacent to the bar. Mind you he collected about 7 drink cups from our group that we purchased there. He told us there was a $100 reservation fee. I walked over to the bar and asked who that guy was, and found out he was the owner, George K. The staff in essence admitted he was an a-hole. I wanted to tell this man that he's doing more harm to his business than good at this point. He needs to retire! read more
