Half Acre BBQ: Midland's High-Plains Pitstop Delivers on Ribs and Big Oil Energy If you are rolling through West Texas on I-20, Half Acre BBQ in Midland is a worthwhile stop for anyone hunting down top-tier Texas Monthly Top 50 honors. Housed in a pristine, modern facility, the restaurant boasts ample parking and plenty of seating both indoors and out on the patio. By 11:00 AM on a Wednesday, a steady line was already forming--clearly a favorite weekday lunch hub for the local oil and gas crowd. The Meats: Pork Ribs (The Star of the Show): Absolute perfection. Coated in a balanced salt-and-pepper rub and finished with a subtle honey glaze, these ribs strike the ideal balance between savory and sweet. They feature a flawless bite--tender enough to pull cleanly off the bone without falling apart. Turkey: Exceptionally juicy and moist throughout, framed by a well-seasoned bark that keeps every bite flavorful. Jalapeño & Cheddar Sausage: Made with a traditional coarse grind rather than a double grind, offering a great natural texture. Packed with a generous amount of real cheddar and jalapeño, all snapped tightly inside a firm, crisp casing. Brisket: Respectable, though slightly mixed. The bark carries good flavor without being overly peppery, but it lacks a prominent smoke ring. While the outer edges are tender, the interior meat leans a little dry and stringy. The Sides & Extras: Green Chile Mac & Cheese: Creamy, rich cheddar sauce infused with just the right level of green chile heat. It makes for a standout side that cuts through the rich pork ribs exceptionally well. Jalapeño Poppers: Classic cream cheese-filled peppers wrapped in bacon. The bacon is rendered and cooked nicely, and the cream cheese cools down the pepper's kick. While solid, mixing in some leftover brisket or chopped chicken would elevate them to elite status. BBQ Sauce: The house sauce flavor didn't quite hit the mark, but the smoked meats hold their own so well that sauce isn't necessary--save for adding a splash of moisture to the leaner cuts of brisket. The Verdict: Half Acre BBQ fully earns its spot on the state's pitmaster map. While the brisket has room for a touch more moisture, the outstanding pork ribs, juicy turkey, and top-tier sides make it an essential stop in Midland TX.

I really hope to see some live music on their stage in the future. It has a potential to be the place to be. The inside is really beautiful and it stands out because there's nothing like it in the area. Staff and managers are generally attentive and quite friendly. I went here with my family so I got to try a few different dishes -scallops were delicious but the mashed potatoes they were served on were cold. Disappointing for the price point. -Wedge salad was quite good but had too much dressing -The sushi (Santomar roll) seems to be made in a square mold and not traditionally rolled. The filling disbursal was kind of inconsistent and the temperature was a bit strange but the overall flavor was quite nice. I'd definitely try their sushi again. -fish and chips and fries were excellent We ordered one of their 1000 layer cake pieces which was a tasty, but absolute monstrosity. I don't recommend getting it unless you plan to share it with at least four people with healthy appetites. It'd be nice to see a half order of it in the future because I did actually quite enjoy it.

Ordered the three meat with brisket, chicken, and ribs. Brisket was not fresh, tender, or tasty. It was definitely left over from whenever but most certainly not cooked within the last 24 hours. And was definitely not cut specifically for me. I was there at about 1:30 pm and felt like it should have been fresh. Chicken was extremely average. Not bad at all but definitely nothing worth noting. Same with ribs. No char at all. Flavorful and decent but not worth coming back for. Beans were good. Potato salad was good. Peach cobbler was average. Sweet tea on point. I wanted to love it but truthfully the meat is better at Dickeys. And we all know that is hit or miss. I wanted to love it and I'm a native Texan and a lover of barbecue. I just can't recommend. Sorry!

As for service, it has a counter service model. You place your order, pay your meal, and have your food plated. Customer service was top notch and friendly.
