The Kitchen is such a bright spot on Lady's Island! We have been for breakfast and lunch multiple times. They are one part store, another part eatery. They have both prepared foods and foods that they make to order. I love that you can take food to go, sit inside or outside. It is in a strip with ample parking. Definitely follow their social media so you can see various specials they have going. I have yet to try something. I don't absolutely love. Do yourself a favor and try this place! read more

THIS IS MY FOOD WONDERLAND. My first time coming across a concept like this where there's ready-made food, cafe, pantry goods, catering options, and more. This is the second time I've been to The Kitchen and I don't even live in South Carolina. I bought around $200 worth of delicious pulled pork baked potatoes, toad pizza, pasta sauce, lasagna, oatmeal crème cookie, peanut butter pie, chicken spaghetti squash, wraps, salads, sides, meatloaf, and more! This is the perfect solution to not wanting to cook but still getting a delicious hot meal ready for the whole family. They have everything in their fridges and freezers, the only issue is trying to keep it all in-stock all the time because the food is just flying off the shelves. Prices may seem steep at first but one "full" container is easily a meal for two people and at around $20, that's a typical price. The convenience, quality, quantity, and variety of items prevails over the cost. I've tried a good number of items and everything has been delicious. Not salty, not too sweet, not heavy or greasy...just perfectly homemade and well-balanced. The cooking instructions are all exactly on point as well. The Kitchen is what every city needs, well-priced, nutritious food that is ready to grab and go. Everyone working inside is very nice, all items are clearly displayed, signs are easy to read, enough space that it doesn't get crowded everywhere. It's called "The Kitchen" but the Kitchen part closes at 3? After that no coffee or hot food is available .. Only grab and go in the refrigerator section available from 3 to 7. No mention of this where the hours are posted online. So It should be named "The Pantry" after 3:00 because that's how it feels. LAME.. besides the fact that everything is quite overpriced and obviously set up for out of towners, the staff are nice and the place has good quality product. It's clean and has a nice atmosphere it's just too bad there is seemingly nothing nice around for locals anymore. You try to take your mom out for lunch and end up paying 50$ on 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees. This place is overall not worth the drive. If you are already out and about maybe it might be a nice place to stop in for a snack. read more

When my coworker told me about this place I was very excited. Although I was quickly disappointed the moment my boyfriend and I and our dog stepped inside because i already didn't like the energy. I understand beaufort is not a very dog friendly place aka they just hate/don't care about dogs here but most places at LEAST let you order and wait with your dog inside. I wasn't even intending on my boyfriend waiting inside with me but I just wanted him to look at the menu while I ordered. He didn't even get to look at the menu before this old lady working there came up and asked if he was a service dog which legally she cannot ask either way. I told her no and she kept trying to talk until I basically told her that I get what she is trying to say but I was in the middle of trying to get the leash off my hip and didn't need her blabbing with her honestly very annoying voice. We got matchas and we were drinking clumps of matcha and it was absolutely disgusting. The food wasn't good either for being a supposedly healthy place the burger was extremely greasy along with the eggs. Overall just terrible and honestly this place gives off an overpriced dennys. Received a lukewarm latte two times when trying the new coffee area. Could also not taste the flavoring in the "hot coffee." The girl at the counter applied my military discount (which I always appreciate) the first time but on the second time told me it wouldn't apply for the coffee. If you're going to offer a discount, you shouldn't pick and choose what it's for or change when it can be used. Mediocre baked goods, salad has brown bits in it. Was also promised a refund for my first coffee experience and never was applied back to my card which is really not cool either to say you'll do something and then don't. My mother resides in a local community so I send her gift cards for Mother's Day to the Kitchen. She has always been quite pleased with the establishment. Her last visit a few days ago was less than stellar. The chicken in the chicken salad was not finely chopped and was tough, she bought it to make small sandwiches for a neighborhood get together and was upset with the quality. To make matters worse she was given tuna salad instead of the chicken she asked for but was unable to exchange it due to store policy. While I understand the policy, apologizing and giving her the chicken salad at no charge would have been more hospitable. I think she would be better off driving a bit further to Harris Teeter for the next gathering. read more

Sorry, the lasagna we purchased was not good. We followed the directions as instructed which we had to alter because it was not cooking correctly under the time and temp listed. Yes oven temps differ but there was no excuse for the limp and soggy pasta we ate. Even after resting, the lasagna only held its shape because of the mini loaf pan it was prepared in. As soon as we removed it from the container it turned into a puddle. (Under seasoned, woefully short on the promised cheese except for the ricotta which was bland and added nothing to the dish). The prices for their food items were ridiculously high for what they offer. Any good home cook could produce better results without shelling out major bucks for the same dish. But its convenience and help that many families look to in juggling schedules and meal times. There is nothing "gourmet" that the Kitchen offers. It's pretty standard fare so why charge such ridiculously high prices? We threw out most of the banana bread we purchased. It was dry, (really?) and lacked the deliciousness that this moist loaf usually provides. The shortbread cookies were just OK. The crab dip? Forgettable. Hey, I want to see local places flourish, including the Kitchen but I wonder who its target market really is? Affordable? No way. I paid over $32 for a small container of broccoli salad, small crab dip, and a mini mini lasagne. I will not return. read more

When you want a good homemade meal but don't want to do the work, then this is the place! It's clean, well organized and filled with friendly staff. The portions may not look that big, but the food is filling and pairing it with a salad or another appetizer makes for the best meal. Not sure why this place doesn't have a 5-star rating. Extremely convenient to pick up food for a weekend at the beach with guests. Everything we've had from there has been good - the jaw dropping kind of good. Crab dip is phenomenal! The Greek shrimp and grits was our personal favorite - we had to go back to get more. Everything tastes fresh and is easy to freeze. The staff is very kind and helpful. This place is a must after a long day at the beach. read more

A friend ordered us a meal from here when our baby was born. The salad was clearly made from fresh ingredients and came with a homemade herb dressing, the chicken tetrazzini was delicious and the carrot cake was divine. We will definitely be heading in to try some of their other items. read more
