I wanted to love an African restaurant in my neighborhood but the food is never ready as expected. They have been known to not have many items on the menu. There was a change in the menu options and many times they are still out. The staff is kind and the food is or has always been hot. The suya chicken was good, the again is my favorite but never available, and egusi was pretty good, the jollof rice has a smoky flavor and is sometimes dry but it's okay. Their jerk wings were also good. I would love pepper soup option but haven't had any. Sadly, to avoid disappointment of not having what I want I have to drive all the way into the city on the south side for an available and consistent meal. The first time I tried this place I got the egusi soup with chicken and fufu. It was great. I tried again today and everything was different. It was less soup, the texture was different and half the portion for $21. Not enough food for the price. Very disappointing. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! I ordered from here yesterday & disappointed is an understatement, I was pissed off. I ordered 2 orders of goat but only received 1 & that was inedible. Tough & hard. The WORST I've ever had by far! The egusi soup had no flavor, the fish was good but the chicken thigh I received was dried out & hard like it had been sitting out all day or it was the food that they were going to throw away but chose to sell it. By the time I made it back home & went to eat it they had closed. It's the next day & they're still not open. Ive wakened up early in the am to make this review because that's how ticked off I am. I will not EVER order from this restaurant & will continue to help others not waste their time & money here. Mind you I spent $52 & the only thing worth eating was a 2 oz piece of fish. Nice open seating space when entering building. Wonderful owners. Unique soda selection with cane sugar, a few cold coffee items and Fresca choices made on site. I got the two tacos with rice and peas and a caramel coffee half sugar. Everything I ordered was wonderful. Not too spicy and came with a delicious sauce. Went here on a whim because the pictures looked delicious and felt like trying something new. Service was a bit slow but we quickly figured out it was a one woman show, despite that she handled everything with grace and took orders and got back cooking and dishing out food as efficiently as one person can. I got the chicken tip dinner, my other guest had the jollof dinner with chicken breast, and my daughter had some chicken nuggets and fries. Everything was absolutely amazing and had amazing flavor; the only plate that had anything left was the jollof dinner because it was enough to feed two people! Then there's the lemonades/frescas that are beyond flavorful with their own unique taste. Felt like we took a gamble and it absolutely paid off! Bad experience. I placed an order online via their web page for jerk chicken tips, jerk chicken Alfredo and some Jollof rice. I get to the location in the time frame where my order should have been ready or close to ready. I say maybe 45 minutes. They didn't know that an order was even placed, so I had to wait. Finally received my food got home with it. My lady got instant gas from the rice bowl. My lady and I had one scoop of the Alfredo to find out the food had a tang like it was spoiled. The chicken tips were okay at best. Didn't get a real jerk taste from it. The fries that came with the tips were the only thing I really ate after I put them in the airfryer to give them a crisp. This place is new and they are doing it right. We had the Jerked Chicken Dinner and the Jerked Chicken Alfredo. Both were tasty and perfectly cooked. The Rice with the Chicken dinner was very well spice with a bit of heat. The cabbage was wonderful, not just boiled cabbage but with spices making it very tasty, the Candied sweet potatoes were wonderful. Our order taker was great. His mother was very cheerful and helpful. The chef came out to see us which was very nice. My friends coconut soda was great and my Ginger lemonade was very good, not too strong or too sweet.
