1/4 Jerk Chicken dark , spinach, cabbage
    Sondra C.

The food is amazing, flavorful cabbage, the spinach was the highlight garlicky seasoned perfectly. The chicken was roasted and seasoned to perfection. Huge portions lots of frozen drink options. The strawberry daiquiri was really fresh tasting. And lots of desserts to pick .

Their food is mediocre. Their chicken skin has the flavor but it's nice and dry so make sure you have a glass of water close by. The sauce is sold separately and I would rate it a 1 on the scale. Lacks flavor. The plantains were not sweet. The Mac and cheese was overly salted. Will I go back? Hard pass. This place is not it.

    Jerk Chicken nachos 10/10

food is a 10/10 fresh, and full of flavor ! jerk chicken , nachos, and mixed drinks are delicious prices are reasonable parking is not the greatest

I was craving for some jerk chicken, and I remembered this place by driving by a few times. Besides, I wanted to give my support to a new business in the neighborhood. The prices are ridiculously high for mediocre food. The so call mac and cheese tasted like it came right out of the Kraft box. Cheap and runny cheese, the cabbage was soggy. I have to be honest the jerk chicken was very good. Seasoned and juicy just the way I like my chicken. So sad that this isn't the perfect jerk place in town. Hopefully, they will improve over the next few months. Especially if they want customers to continue to support them. I understand the prices are at a high demand. But you have to produce quality food and products. The older woman behind the counter needs some customer service skills. Her body language shows she doesn't like her job or people. Could be a little more friendly.

    Jerk chicken tacos

I stopped in from just driving past. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and given samples of the food. The chicken tips and rasta pasta. They were very good and fresh too. We ordered a variety of items. The tacos, the egg rolls, the fish. Everything was so fresh and hot. The taste if everything was good too. They had a nice crowd as well, and everyone they gave samples to ordered multiple items lol. Good strategy! I'd definitely go back again. I'd say check them out!

    The burnt and hard plantains

I will never ever order from this restaurant again. One item I ordered, I suppose thet were out of. The third carrier notified me but instead of the restaurant waiting for me to give my reply of what I would like to replacement it, They just refunded that part of the order. You may say great a refund, but no, then they would not allow me to add to the existing order. So then I had to order the second meal from a whole different restaurant. On top of that, when I received my order, it was completely a mess. The plantains were burnt and hard. The cabbage was just okay plus the second side of cabbage that we got that was supposed to be a large, wasn't even a full pint, and they charged $8 for it. I ordered a side of mac and cheese and then started telling me they were out of mac and cheese , they replaced it with a jerk chicken alfredo , that was watery tasteless and disgusting. The sweet potatoes were some funky, Brown color and not orange with some type of blistered something on top of it. They just looked disgusting, so I didn't even try those. And the side of bread that you're supposed to get with it was just completely MIA. This is just inexcusable and shows a total lack of care for the customer and pride in your product and service. This is such a shame because I was excited to try the food and support a black-owned business. DO BETTER!!!

My fellow traveling house heads trusted my foodie instincts, but there was a little skepticism until our rideshare driver gave it his enthusiastic vote of confidence! Garifuna Flava is a Black-owned restaurant celebrating the rich flavors and traditions of Belizean, Caribbean, Latin, and Indigenous Garifuna cuisine. The restaurant isn't fancy, yet it is warm, welcoming, and one of the owners even took time to share the history of the Garifuna people with one of my friends. And making the experience even more authentic was the soundtrack of Caribbean and reggae music, which had us swaying, singing along, and feeling right at home like a spot in the Caribbean or Brooklyn. As for the food, it was DELISH! I enjoyed tender oxtails with yams, fried sweet plantains, rice, and stew beans. It was comfort food that tasted like a home-cooked meal. A nice cold Ting was the perfect pairing. I couldn't resist sampling a dining partner's shrimp dish, which was also flavorful. Garifuna Flava is located in Chicago Lawn, often referred to locally as Marquette Park on Chicago's Southwest Side. The neighborhood is home to the beautiful 323-acre Marquette Park, designed by the Olmsted Brothers (sons of the designer of Central Park), and holds an important place in the city's civil rights history. Thank you, Garifuna Flava, for a delicious meal and a cultural experience I'll remember. I'll definitely be back. But don't just take my word for it, go experience the yummyliciousness for yourself! Mmmm... #BonAppetit! Cheers!

Our server was quick and pleasant. He was refilling and offering new drinks before we even knew we needed them. I'm not even sure I really considered the menu because I really came to retry the oxtail and rice & peas. I was not disappointed, and there was nothing but tailbones left on my plate. Ambiance is fun at The Wild Hare. The live music in the back room int he evenings are definitely where it's at. I would recommend checking out the event calendar on their website to help pick which day you may want to come. My only complaint is that I really wish the DJ played more reggae in the restaurant. I expected to have a full reggae night, but all the way up until the live band, it was mostly hip hop and R&B with the occasional reggae throwback. Give us more; we came for the reggae vibes!

A beautiful little place, tucked away in a cozy corner of a small shopping center, you'd never expect such flavors and such an escape. With a larger place, walk ins would probably be handled fine. When I went, we felt lucky showing up when we did, as it soon filled up inside, such that a couple had to be turned away at the door. Plantain soup. It was a special, and special it was.
