The staff was warm and attentive throughout--especially Maurice (I believe the manager), who took care of us from start to finish. The food hit the spot: chicken, fish, and pot roast, all with generous sides and dessert. Great value for the price. Between the solid comfort food and exemplary service from Maurice, I'd gladly make the hour-long drive to come back again. Highly recommend.

The food was good, but a little bit on the expensive side. We ordered three one entree plates. They came with two sides and a muffin. My wife and son both ordered their fried chicken entree with Mac & cheese and yams, and I ordered their smothered pork chops with yams and collard greens. The fried chicken was good, Mac and cheese was ok, collard greens weren't the greatest. The yams were delicious and the smothered pork chops definitely hit the spot. The food overall was seasoned well, not under seasoned and most importantly not over seasoned. The gravy was really good and the pork chops were cooked perfectly. We also ordered their banana pudding. This one was just ok. Not sure if I'd order it again. We wanted peach cobbler but they were out. Next time we'll order that if it's available. My entire family enjoyed their meal and we will definitely be returning.

I really wanted to enjoy my experience with Lickle Jamaica Restaurant. First, I want to say that…read morethe young lady who assisted me was very pleasant and provided great customer service, and I truly appreciated her attitude. Unfortunately, the food experience was completely different. In these days and times, when everything is so expensive and people are working hard for every dollar, it is extremely disappointing to spend your money treating yourself only to receive the wrong order. I ordered a half white chicken dinner, but when I got home, I discovered that I had been given wings instead. I understand that we should always check our orders before leaving, and I take responsibility for not doing that. However, customers should also be able to trust that the order they paid for is prepared correctly. To make matters worse, the food was so salty that I could barely enjoy it. It honestly tasted like someone dropped a whole bucket of salt into the meal. When money is tight and you decide to spend what you have on a special meal, getting the wrong food and then not being able to enjoy it is very disappointing. Again, the customer service from the young lady was wonderful, so this review is not directed toward her. I just hope management takes more care with checking orders and food preparation. Customers work hard for their money, and whether we spend $10 or $100, we deserve to receive what we ordered and food that we can actually enjoy.

I went to eat at Corrales on Friday night and accidentally left my phone behind…read more When my wife went back to pick it up, using the location from Find My iPhone, the same server who had waited on me told her she didn't recognize me or know who I was. My wife was there with our two little children, trying to explain what I had been wearing, who I was with, and where we had been sitting. She was still ignored and received very little help from the staff. Eventually, I did get my phone back, and I'm thankful for that. But what bothers me is everything surrounding it. I tipped more than 20% that night. I always try to leave my table as clean as possible out of respect for the server and busser. I've been coming here for years. I genuinely love the food and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. I even have memories of getting ice cream with my son from the place next door, which I understand is under the same ownership. That's why this experience hurt more than it probably would have somewhere else. Maybe this was the actions of one server. Maybe there was a misunderstanding. I can't say for certain what every staff member knew. But from my wife's experience, no one seemed willing to help her, and the way the situation was handled felt dishonest, dismissive, and disrespectful. Something as simple as returning someone's lost phone should not have turned into this. I have a lot of good memories at Corrales, and I truly loved coming here. Unfortunately, after this experience, I don't see myself coming back. Thanks for the memories, Corrales. I sincerely wish this situation had been handled differently.

I'm actually glad they were closed today, because Chef Daddy's really delivered on flavor and hospitality. I live in the Oak Park area and have passed this spot countless times over the years, but it wasn't until I started seeing glowing reviews all over social media that I finally decided to stop in. The place is small and quaint, with just a few tables for dining in. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by one of the owners. After taking another guest's order, she came over and took mine. I ordered the catfish dinner with double mac and cheese and a side of greens with smoked turkey. While waiting, the owner came out to tidy up the dining area and asked how I heard about them. I told her about the recent social media buzz. A few minutes later, she brought out a couple of samples -- a piece of smoked turkey butt (delicious) and a bean and okra concoction (also really good). That personal touch made the experience even better. Once my order was ready, I headed home to dig in. Let's start with the greens and cornbread -- both were on point. The greens were well-seasoned, tender but not mushy, with a nice little bite and not overly greasy. The cornbread was semi-sweet, moist, and made with white cornmeal -- a perfect match for the greens. Then came the catfish -- and let me tell you, it was real catfish, not swai or some mystery fish like some places try to pass off. The portion was generous, with a great balance between the fish and the sides. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection -- honestly better than Brown's, which to me just tastes like fried MSG. Now, for the mac and cheese -- this was the only miss for me. It had a sweet note, possibly from sugar and nutmeg, which isn't my style when it comes to mac. I know some people like it that way, but I prefer a more savory, cheesy version. Overall, I'll definitely be back -- especially for the catfish, greens, and that tasty bean/okra dish. Next time, I just might try the barbecued turkey butt.
