Oh well, they lost 5 customers and tips even after we ordered drinks. OK.... After today, and even without compromising my Unitarian Universalist credentials, I may believe in miracles. After a really nice time at the Sporting Clays at Snowshoe, we were ravenously hungry as we woke up late and just had enough time to brush our teeth, slap some deodorant, put some clothes on, and step outside to wait for the shuttle to the Sporting Clays. My partner's daughter said "We've never been to the Junction" to which I replied "Perish the Thought"... She kept on nagging until all of a sudden I thought I was hearing that old Jefferson Starship song "If You Believe in Miracles"... so I relented and was expecting to write yet another missive of The Junction as the American restaurant's equivalent to what Murtala International Airport is in the world of airports.... And I was pleasantly surprised. OK, it's not Murtala anymore... How about Charles De Gaulle?... We went in and were courteously greeted and seated by an entire entourage of waitresses. Our waitress was professionally clothed, spoke correct English, and knew what she was talking about. We ordered chicken tenders for me, my partner ordered the Crab Cake Luncheon, and his daughter ordered the Open Faced Turkey. All three were good. Not outstanding, but good. The best part of the lunch was the fact that neither our water glass nor iced tea nor coke glasses were less than three quarters full at any time. Once in a while, with new management, a restaurant comes up from the culinary ashes like a phoenix. This was actually a pleasant visit and I'm duly upgrading the review. Still, considering that there were only four or five occupied tables in the entire restaurant, it could be a chance or it could be that The Junction has really come around. Table we were sat at still had empty glasses and beer cans on it. Took 15 mins to get waited on at all. Drinks came out and I got a completely incorrect drink on a simple order. I have dietary restrictions and after asking the wait staff to check for ingredients but the chef stated "they don't know" what is in their own food. I know there aren't many restaurant options on the mountain but don't go here unless you are eating at the bar because the bartenders were ok. read more

They offer vegetarian, gluten free, and fit skier options. Otherwise the menu consists of some heavy options anywhere from shepherd's pie, burgers and sandwiches, hearty appetizers including venison chili to lighter sides like salads and soup of the day. Service wasn't terrible, but one thing we noticed at every place dined at in Snowshoe was service definitely was not at its peak. No pun intended. It was slow moving and they'd get to you when they got to it. I highly suggest that you look at your silverware before eating off of it. They had to bring me new silverware twice due to food remanence and it not being washed. I'm not complaining about watermarks. I'm complaining about soap and food residue. Third time was a charm and I got silverware that was not messed up. Cute ambiance! It has a full bar with high-top chairs at it, tons and tons and tons of seating, but do expect to be put on a wait list. Went there to eat and the jacuzzi on top of the restaurant broke and flooded the building came back the next day and they had sewer issue finally got into the establishment and the bartender Kathleen was super rude the manager Bryan was was more worried about his social status then attending to customers my wife had to wait 15 minites for a ceasar salad I mean really we will never to return to this place or recommend this place to anyone ever. read more

Located in the Village by the slopes, Junction offers a spacious interior and a comparatively acceptable tap list to the other bars on the mountain. Service was lacking despite our convenient bar seats, but the food here was the most promising of our trip. Vegetable soup with saltines was pretty standard, but the venison chili won us over. The chunks of game were not well-presented, but it was every bit the source of homey warmth we needed to fuel the rest of our afternoon. Look, this place is not going to be rated 3 stars by the Michelin guide. But treat it as it should be expected and it will not disappoint. We were at snowshoe between Christmas and New Years so obviously peak season. Everywhere was on a long wait but our waiter Chase treated our arty of 6 like we were important. Why people give 2-star reviews of this place is beyond me. We ate/drank here several times during our 4-day visit and, overall, we were satisfied. Know your location! If you're on top of a mountain in West Virginia, please understand that you may need to adjust expectations accordingly. That said, they have a great selection of beer and the food is decent. I personally tried the ribs, bacon cheeseburger, potato wedges, fries and fried goat cheese; all were very tasty, but my favorite is the ribs. Flying Dog's Raging Bitch IPA is their high line draft, but it's like 9.5%, so beware! We had friendly servers and bartenders, made new friends and generally enjoyed ourselves whilst keeping warm. Aside from fairly slow service, I would recommend this as your hangout in Snowshoe. read more

Took more than 45 minutes to get our food. 2 meals were delivered 30 minutes after the others. 4 different items were delivered to the table that we didn't order. Drinks and appetizers were duplicated on the bill. Bill was $45 more than it should've been. No apology for poor service. Went inside at 4:00 PM and saw the menu said no entrees until 5:00 PM we debated on leaving so we would open the table but the waitress said it was okay. We were told we were the first to order at 5:00 and excited to get our food. While waiting the waitress was very slow at bringing us refills and I asked for a drink menu which she brought to me but didn't come back over for 25 mins for me to put the drink order in. She finally came over and took the order of course that took a while to come. After waiting a hour and half for out food (6:30pm) we decided we were done listening to waitresses telling us you're the next one and left. Three stars for deviled eggs! I mean, seriously, who doesn't love deviled eggs? They're pretty standard though, much like what grandma would make, minus the paprika and plus a little bacon. Other than that unique appetizer, though, this place didn't do much for the palate. I had the turkey sandwich, which was big slabs of cold turkey on thick white bread. The fries were good. But I ordered an Old Fashioned, and while I give the bartender credit for steering me away from their rail whiskey (McCormicks? Who I hear also make tequila?)... We had a great experience at the Junction for dinner and lunch! Our dinner was a reservation for a party of 31 and our server was fantastic. I can't remember her name but she was so wonderful! We came back two days later for lunch with a party of 28 and they seated us quickly. Our server Heather was amazing. The food was good and the service was the best! I might as well have thrown $70 into the fireplace and watch it burn! I ordered the wings which were 8 for $15, which is understandable in a resort area. That said, I order my wings extra crispy and they were severely undercooked. Also, there was a wing tip in my basket that I guess counted as on if the 8! My wife ordered the garden burger which was basically a pile of black beans on a bun! The only positive part of our visit was the pretzels which were good and the server was very pleasant. There are limited choices in The Village and I think the restaurants realize that simple fact. Staff was nice but overwhelmed. Ordered two sandwiches which came out at room temperature at best. Seemed like it had been microwaved a couple of times (rubbery chicken) but still not even a little warm. Ordered a "hot" waffle with "hot" apples and ice cream. Waffle was probably left over from the morning and again served at room temperature. Took a couple of bites and that was enough. Ice cream didn't melt over the next 15 minutes while we waited for our check. Although the staff at check-in highly recommended this restaurant, I would rather have bought some groceries and prepared something in our room.
