So long story short, the bf sprained his shoulder the other day & as the best gf on the face of this planet ;) , I woke up early, did a little magic on Google, found this Place on 'Chiropractor in the Bay', and Yelp it (of course) to see how well the service is compared to the price. HEY 4 stars for $19 as a first timer? & $24 for regular visits? I'm sold! So I made a call & spoke directly with Dr. Colvin. Dr. Colvin was very patience & helpful in answering all of my questions in regards to the pricing. Please excuse me, but we're both unemployed college students so $$ is definitely a big issue when it comes to seeing doctors. Don't want to get smack with a $200 bill after-wards haha Even though Dr. Colvin informed me that this was a Walk-In Joint & he doesn't take appointments, He allowed me to give me an estimate for your arrival so he can perhaps schedule us in as accordingly to our needs. We arrived there around 11am and lucky us, found parkings right in front of The Joint. My bf was the last client Dr. Colvin saw before his lunch break & he exam him from joint to joint. He even called me over to show me a bone problem that my bf was having in his shoulders, too. Aside from fixing his shoulder, Dr. Colvin found a problem with my bf's bone structure that can effect his back bone in the long run & immediately directed him to go get an x-ray so the problem can be fixed before it is too late. I have never been to a Chiropractor before & wasn't even planning on seeing one, but after the helpful experience that the bf had, I wouldn't mind getting an exam myself when my bf comes back for his follow up. One downside is that all the exams are flat out in the open of the office, no closed door exams, so I can understand why people tends to get a bit hesitant based on being in front of everyone. But this is Berkeley, so I think it sends out more of a community atmosphere and fits right into the Berkeley culture. read more

If the business says walk ins allowed and is open till 5 I would expect the business to take the last customer at 5. Instead they told us it was booked and that they wouldn't take us. We came at 4 and the place closes at 5. read more

THE JOINT-! it is like someone has been secretly monitoring my thoughts and come up with this place of business. I am obsessed with cracking my joints---it all began innocently enough in my early teens----it began with my hands, then my feet, then my ankles, here comes my knees, then the neck, here comes my back, can't forget an occasional hip joint pop, and jaw crack-----some of us cruize the internet for porn, I often find myself at jointcrackers.com so it was like a ray of light and at the end of it, a rainbow when i was returning from my many visits at Amoeba/Rasputins to feed by Vinyl collecting obsession, that I saw a sign, $19 eval, $25 adjustments, --no mumbo jumbo xrays, fillers and BS-----even sweeter when I saw the $49 membership for 4 adustments for $49--using my remedial math skills, even I could figure that out to be around $12.50 a visit. I often hit flea market massages for Accupressure massages ----yeah, I know it sounds gross, but there are a couple of very good persons doing them and they are dirt cheap, $10 for 20 mins---My main massage guy can pop/crack my back and occasionally my neck----So to my point----for just about the same price, I can now have Dr Laurent do his magic----I can think of no better way to spend $10 and $12.50 then to do an Accupresure massage and then an adjustment here at the Joint. OK, about the Joint-----so far my expectations have been exceeded ten fold. The intiial eval was fairly comprehensive---mine took about 15 mins, and then I received an adjustment to my back, neck, areas--a total of about 4 different adjustments. I have been back 2 times since and each time never felt rushed. Dr Laurent has a very friendly casual, laid-back demeanor. I guess a basic quick analogy would be he is more Berkeley Bowl/Rainbow Grocery than IBM, which to me is a way good thing. I have nothing but the highest recommendation for the Joint---it truely provides access financially to Chiropractic care to almost everyone read more

3rd time in 3 weeks. I come not because I'm constantly hurt, but because I work out a lot. So coming here helps keep me loose and prevent tightening up and risk injuries in the future. Overall I'd say great value if you have never been to a chiropractor, need simple adjustments, don't want to pay 100+ per session, and are not too picky about your service. I'm not saying the service is bad, just don't expect like half hour long sessions or longer because of the business model the Joint is built on. Recommend that you come 15-20 before your ideal time since there is no appointment system here. Also if there are too many clients waiting, the place will close up to half a hour early since they will estimate the total time it takes finish the already seated clients. I come on weekends so I'm usually seen by Dr Walter. He does what he does very well. He is not too chatty, does not mean he is rude, he is just professional and gets the job done. read more

Walked in here as a last resort to just absurd pain and stiffness my upper back after a drive to LA. I slept on a friends tiny couch for two nights while there then drove back. My back was jacked!! I tried massage and still felt awful. I'd never been to a chiropractor but found myself almost fantasizing about it. Holy hell was my back happy I went. Dr crack bone cracked the shit out of me. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!! get fix in about 10 mins, no appointments, just get fix. I went to another chiropractor a couple of days before going to The Joint. The other chiropractor told me a million things that was wrong and I would have to stop jujitsu or i would be disable soon. So....... i went to the joint the next day, 10 mins later, got adjusted, felt like a million bucks, got my range of motion back. First time visit, it ws $20. I been back plenty of times. read more

This place was surprisingly good. I was quite skeptical because it's so cheap and because it's a chain! I was also a little wary when I arrived because some Yelp reviews I read raved about it being quick, but that doesn't immediately sound like a good thing to me in this circumstance. It actually did turn out to be quite quick, but in an efficient way, not because it was rushed or incomplete. Both Matt and Laurent were very nice, but Laurent was the one who worked on me. He was quirky and fun, and I somehow ended up enjoying myself despite the fact that I was there because I was in pain. It was clean, professional and effective. If you can't afford to go to regular private practice, this is actually a great alternative. read more

Laurent and the team are amazing. I have been doing monthly adjustments for over 2 years and cannot speak higher. Prior to coming to The Joint, I paid close to $50 each adjustment. with their plan, my monthly for several visits (typically 2-4/month) are less than one visit before. All the staff are phenomenal. Always friendly, welcoming and work to make you comfortable with the often scary process - I've taken both my partner and my mother there (who were both terrified of chiropractic), but ended up loving the team and we less afraid by the end. read more

On-demand chiropractic is a brilliant idea! The Joint makes getting chiropractic adjustments as easy (and affordable) as Netflix makes watching movies. The biggest hassle I experienced with my old chiropractor was the hassle of making an appointment. Now I just pop in. What an efficient chiropractic place! There's just one big waiting room where everyone gets cracked so they just whip through the patients. No appointments. (Not like you don't need one. You can't make one. Just drop-ins.) They are so fast it doesn't matter. I was in and out (on a Monday at 11am) in 20min. Unbelievably low package pricing. Went to the joint in Berkeley this evening straight from the airport. I arrived at 6:30 and the door was locked. Their website says that they close at 7pm and accept walk ins. Well not according to the man that opened the door. As anyone in the Bay Area knows, finding parking in Berkeley is a hard thing to do so being told after finding that parking and limping to the door that I could not be seen was frustrating. I am never told this when I arrive at 6:30 to my local Pinole location. The issue that caused me to write a review, which I rarely do, is that as the gentleman who opened the door was trying to explain their franchisees policy of not taking clients when there is a wait, the chiropractor stopped what he was doing to yell that there was a wait and it was "based on availability". Needless to say, I was not interested in having that chiropractor put his negative energy on me. Yelling from ten feet away at a client who is already being addressed is unprofessional. If In fact this is the policy of this Franchisee, then I think the corporate entity should remove the "walk in, no appointment necessary" language from its advertising. I will address it on a corporate level and then keep giving my business to the Pinole Owner. Update, I will add that I spoke to the Owner about an hour later and I believe he was the chiropractor that addressed me. He did handle the conversation professionally and also apologized. read more

Back aches and the regular chiropractor is backed-up so no saturday appts available. I remember seeing an ad for The Joint so I check out their website and reviews. All looks good. I'm 1st in the door at 10am. Simple paperwork and then straight to the exam and adjustment. Treatment was pretty quick as there were others waiting at this point. I have always responded well to a good adjustment and this felt good. My walk-in experience was pretty much spot-on except like with a massage you don't want it to be over and this was not leisurely. Went in for An exam. I was the second person in line but was pushed back for 30+ mins once 3 more people showed up. I asked the reasoning on why I was moved back where the gentlemen replied by saying "I just want to speed things along quicker." I wanted to share with anyone considering visiting the Joint that all my visits there have been exceptionally positive. I have seen Dr. Laurent Colvin three different times with weird back pains that I probably caused by bending the wrong way or tweaking my back in some way. By the time I went I was pretty exasperated that the pain had not gone away on it's own. Every time I've seen him he has figured out where the problem is and gave me a few targeted adjustments and made my pain disappear. I can't speak for anyone but me but he has been a real find. I have gone to other chiropracters in my life but no-one has ever produced the kind of results I've gotten with Dr. Colvin. Plus he's a real nice guy. Their prices are very reasonable too. I was injured in a slip and fall back in the 1990's resulting in a 47 percent permanent disability. I have extensive problems do to it. I have seen dozens of chiropractors in the following years, including the 49's and Giants doctor. I saw a commercial for the joint in Berkeley. I love the business model as it can be so expensive. Doctor Colvin is probably the best I have had. I have been with the joint for about 6 years or so.He has been able to fix me when nobody else has. He is very knowledgeable about the function of anatomy and the body's systems. I recently had a new back issue and Dr Colvin was able to fix it when I thought I was in real trouble!! He knows my body problems well and is very personable!! I would be lost without him! I feel I was could be in a wheel chair if not for the effort of him taking care of me and that is the truth!! I have the monthly plan and when I have issues that crop up it is only10$ for any extra visits! His availability is great! I would recommend Dr Colvin to anyone and everyone!! read more

Had my first chiropractor appointment here and I'm really glad I went in. Dr. Sue explained her assessment and the whole process. I went in because of a pinched nerve and back pain issues that were getting worse and now affecting my arm and leg. I feel so much better and learned some lifestyle changes that will help me. I was sold a Wellness Package from another location with the promise that Berkeley would be a location I could go to for the next two months. Not only did the chiropractor and front desk woman from my initial visit assure me I could visit the Berkeley location, they gave me the Berkeley address so I'd know exactly where to go. Enter today when I went to this location to get an adjustment - and I was told I'd have to pay even though I had a voucher to cover the visit. I was given absolute assurance I wouldn't run into any issues and I was hesitant but they insisted. And here I am. Today, the chiropractor, Laurent Colvin, at the Berkeley location called the location where I signed up and after he hung up the phone, he said I couldn't get adjusted under the Wellness Plan that I signed up for. He was dismissive and unapologetic. When I explained the situation, he had already moved on and wasn't interested. Ultimately, I asked what I could do, he coldly replied, pay me more. I reached out to another location and they said this was typical of this chiropractor - he was notoriously rude and difficult to work with. I'd encourage anyone looking to check this place out... to not. Shame on you, The Joint. read more

Te Joint did not disappoint me on any level. I saw Dr. Michael Lennon and he listened to my story, explained everything fully, and treated me professionally. Their new patient $19 special can't be beat, and it is well worth it. I expected to be hit up for additional fees, but that was not the case. He adjusted my neck and my upper back and left me one happy girl. They didn't try to up-sell me on a membership, because that is not what I needed for my condition, although, I know that I would definitely benefit from regular adjustments. I used The Joint in Colorado and now so happy they are in Berkeley, California too! I have recurring sacroiliac issues. When issues start, I show up and pay $30 and get a professional adjustment. No appointments or extra expenses. It has resolved my issue every time, plus I've gotten good advice on how to manage this problem with stretches, or what do to when it starts to help resolve it. This place has horrible customer service. Firstly, (this was during their lunch break 2-3 PM) it was pouring rain outside and the desk attendant clearly saw me. He didnt even bother to ask me to come inside to wait till they restart operations. Waited outside for a good 30 minutes. I tried to sign up for a package asking about their military discount (that all other Joint branches offer btw). He just shrugged me of saying that there is nothing he can offer in that regard. After doing a lot of traveling on planes in a short period of time I ended up with a tweaked SI. My Pilates instructor recommended The Joint. I moved furniture recently (big mistake) and ended up in terrible lower back, hip and thigh pain. My regular chiropractor's schedule was packed and when he could not fit me in he told me about The Joint. He said the chiropractor there does a good job if all you are looking for is a quick adjustment (vs ART) and you can just walk in. I was in so much pain and walked in, fortunately when there were not alot of people waiting. I was really impressed with the thorough exam Dr. Colvin gave me before he treated me. I am happy to say he made the right adjustment that gave me immediate relief (compared to what I had been experiencing). The pain has reduced significantly and I plan to go back on Monday for follow up. So grateful these guys are here. read more

This Doctor was very rude and made us wait over 40 min to inform us that it was going to be another 40 to 60 min before he will tent to my Daugther I feel disrespected , after he made comment that he will tent to his regular people not to a new one .
