We parked next door at the gas station and walked to the park. There was no parking fee or entrance fee. We made it there about 9 and there were about 5 vendors and many tables to sit and enjoy your food. There was also music playing. Slutty vegan seemed to be the only vendor with a line. When I'm talking line, I'm talking L-I-N-E!!!! As we were waiting, we ended up getting a spiked lemonade from one of the vendors and it wasn't spiked much. Lol After standing in line for 2 hours we're getting closer to the front, and then we hear "We're sold out."

I finally made it out to the Atlanta Food Truck Park last night despite living just around the…read morecorner. I had a great time and am really glad to see this place open in my neighborhood. Atlanta is better off for having food trucks (and this park, specifically). Despite the cloudy, on-and-off drizzly weather, the park had a good turnout of patrons between 7-9pm on a Thursday night. Thanks to those who braved the elements for our UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-atlanta-food-truck-park-uye). The food truck/food stand lineup was pretty good: Sweet Auburn BBQ Corn-a-Cue One Love Jerk Grill Metro City Dogs Lemonade Stand WOW! Food Truck Ibiza Bites Chay J's New Orleans Candies Rouxd Food Truck King of Pops Yum Yum Cupcake Verizon also had a stand. I've been following the park's official calendar (http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/calendar/) over the past month and noticed Thursday nights are the ideal weeknight (excluding Fridays) to go for the most trucks and the best selection. I suspect there might have been more trucks last night if it wasn't for the weather. I ended up trying a little bit of everything: Arepas (Venezuelan sliders) from WOW! Food Truck Beef brisket with Asian pear slaw taco from Sweet Auburn BBQ Goat cheese-stuffed fried green tomatoes from Ibiza Bites Creole pretzels and Creole popcorn from Chay J's I'll be posting reviews for each of those trucks in the next few days. If you come for dinner, I recommend coming on the early side as the food trucks only have a limited supply of items and do sell out. This leads some trucks to close early. I saw many menus with marked off items that had sold out for the day. Yum Yum Cupcakes shut down early because they sold out of their cupcakes for the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much seating the park had. I counted 16 large picnic tables in the main "dining" area, most with umbrellas. Each picnic table can seat up to about 8 people each. The picnic tables are located on a flat, paved surface. The food trucks are located in a large gravel lot. This lot has 4 communal standing tables and 2 additional picnic tables. So overall, this spot has quite a bit of seating, which is convenient. Also, plenty of trash cans and recycling bins to keep the grounds looking relatively clean. The park is family and dog-friendly. It can be a little loud because you're around all these big trucks and next to busy Howell Mill Rd. You can BYOB, so save money by bringing your own drinks. If you want water, I saw some trucks selling it for $1 per bottle. There is one restroom and it's a "Johnny on the Spot" porta-potty in the parking lot with portable sink outside so you can wash your hands. There is ample free parking behind the park. Turn onto Emery St, next to the Shell Station on Howell Mill, to find it. If you need more detailed directions, check out the park's FAQ here: http://www.atlantafoodtruckpark.com/faqs/. The parking lot is old and filled with pot holes, so drive carefully. I saw someone puncture their car's tire by running over a broken-off metal sign post on the ground (she was trying to make too tight of a turn around the dining area). Note that every Wednesday and Friday night throughout the summer, the park will be playing movies for free. Also, from time to time, there is live music. On the weekends, there's a food market with rotating vendors and an artists market coming soon. Overall, I'm very happy with the Atlanta Food Truck Park and definitely plan on returning.

We ran across Pretty Little Taco Truck that has their take on birria tacos and had great reviews so we decided to head to Triton Yards. While it's not a huge place, it's a decent size. It is located in the Westend of Atlanta. We went on a Saturday and I believe there was about 5 food trucks along with a dj. They also have plenary of parking. There's a lot directly behind them for parking, as well as I noticed parking on the side where people could park. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Triton Yards is family friendly. While there was a dj, the music was good and appropriate for all present. There is a green space out there with games for the kids like big jenga, as well as a fire pit for s'mores when the sun sets. They sell a s'mores kit for $3 which isn't bad. I also liked the fact that they have a drink shack with both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. I really love that there is something like this in the African American community! I think that it gives those who live in and around the community a safe place to have fun and experience other minority small businesses that they can support. In following them on social media, I've noticed they also provide other events like wellness Wednesdays (yoga) and sip and paints. I know I'll be back because there's a number of other places I'd like to try and I love the fact that they support and provide a nice space for African Americans, as well as others to experience.

I tried the fried chicken with rice and peas topped with oxtail gravy, and the portion size was very generous. The flavors were solid and gave me that comforting taste I look for in Jamaican food. I also couldn't leave without grabbing a bottle of sorrel. After tasting it in the car, I immediately wished I had bought more than one! The only challenge is the location -- it's a bit hidden. A flag sign on the outer side of the parking deck could help bring more visibility and make it easier for first-time visitors to find. Overall, Irie Mon is a hidden gem worth checking out. I checked out Grilldabeast last night at the Atlanta Food Truck Park on Howell Mill Rd…read more (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-atlanta-food-truck-park-uye-part-2). Grilldabeast is, I assume, a play on the word wildebeest. I asked one of the owners what theme his food truck has and he explained to me it's street food favorites "with a twist." I believe it's a fairly new addition to the ATL food truck scene. No more than a month or two old. The small truck is painted all black. The menu consisted of an Avocado BLT, Chicken Shawarma, Peachy Pork (pork loin BBQ sandwich), and Smoke-Fried Wings (mango Thai chili glaze, avocado ranch). Sides included a Panko Avocado basket, Smoked Tomato Dill Hummus, Chips, and Slaw. Mains were about $7-8 each and sides $5 and less. Drinks (mint iced tea and bottled water) were $2. I tried the Chicken Shawarma ($8) plus a mint iced tea ($2). Shawarmas are Middle Eastern sandwiches or wraps that contain meat, typically off of a spit, along with a variety of garnishes such as tabbouleh salad, tomatoes, cumcumbers, etc. Grillabeast's Chicken Shawarma is huge. It's served open-faced, so it's kind of like eating a giant soft taco. The Chicken Shawarma contains pieces of marinated char-grilled chicken breast, tzatziki (Greek yogurt sauce), Mediterranean salsa (tomatoes, cucumber), lettuce, and feta cheese all inside pita bread. Overall, not bad. It was certainly filling and the ingredients were fresh enough. If anything, I thought the wrap could have used more tzatziki sauce because I love that stuff -- it's minty and refreshing, but I can see why they don't add more sauce as the wrap would get quite messy to eat. The shawarma came with a side of house-made chips, also not bad. They were thin and more on the soft rather than crispy side. Mint iced tea was pretty simple. Not much sugar added if any. $2 for one Styrofoam cupful may be asking a tad too much, but whatever. Staff was very nice and my food, which was made-to-order, came out fast. Credit cards are accepted, though I'm not sure if there's a minimum.

My sis and I decided to split the loaded curly fries; Grilldabeast was our appetizer truck before we got down and dirty noshing on tacos, burritos, Jamaican jerk chicken, creole pretzels and popcorn, and custard. If my memory services me correctly, the fries were $5 and they were the perfect thing to get our food coma on and popping. Imagine: piping hot seasoned curly fries, ladened with fresh crispy bacon, and thick cheese sauce. I mean, can you REALLY go wrong with cheese, curly fries, and BACON? No, my dear Yelper, you cannot. Service was on point, food was fresh and made to order. We received our fries within 5-8 minutes.

We arrived today just after 11, and the line for Yumbii was reasonable and there were almost no lines at the other food trucks. Last week, we arrived after 11:30 and the lines were miserably long - at least 30-40 minutes for Sweet Auburn BBQ just to place an order, and then maybe another 10-15 minutes for the food. Honestly, the food wasn't worth the wait. I guess there's this expectation that street food is supposed to be unique - something I can't find at the everyday restaurant. And isn't street food supposed to be cheap - like average $5. But I still made the decision to try Sweet Auburn BBQ b/c I was so drawn to the smell of smoking meat. And maybe psychologically I was drawn b/c it had the 2nd longest line so maybe the food is really good. I got the $8 plate which included choice of meat, side, and Texas Toast - I decided on the beef brisket (ok) and the jicama & Asian pear slaw (good). Texas Toast was more like Texas bread - thick but not toasted, and plain w/ no garlic butter :( I tried my friend's salad w/ BBQ chicken - pretty good but nothing special either. If you're looking for a more authentic street food experience, your time might be better spent waiting in line for the other food trucks. So today, I finally had my first Yumbii - and it will not be my last :) My favorite was the sesame fries esp. the chipotle ketchup. The fries are dusted w/ salt & chili flakes, and you can taste a hint of the sesame oil - it really works! Fries are $3 and the portion is enough for 2 ppl. Yumbii tacos are $2 and $3. I had 2 tacos which was plenty - they are deceivingly filling! I enjoyed the fish taco ($3) which was surprisingly 1 big piece of fish (vs. the usual 2-3 tiny pieces you get at other places). I wasn't a fan of the spicy pulled pork taco ($2) - it was spicier than expected and dripping with oil :( And like week #1, we got a King of Pops to enjoy on our walk back to work. I tried the Mojito this time which was nice & refreshing - my only complaint is that all the herbs sank to the bottom of the popsicle which probably can't be helped. I'll just have to come up with a more creative way of solving that problem :) Overall I'm still giving 5 stars b/c I'm a huge fan of street food.
