Food Truck Friday…read more Tried the Jamaican eatery and was pretty good. I tried the classic jerk chicken. The chicken had the perfect amount of spice and nice crisp on the outside. The chicken was not overcooked but can have been a little more tender. The jerk spice and sauce was very good with intentional heat without being too hot. So what about taste? They were mediocre. Salsa seemed to be Tostitos or any other bargain-basement jarred or canned salsa. The guacamole was a slurry of goo that really had no flavor. The tots themselves were nice and crispy, but no more than straight from a freezer bag. I get it -- speed of service, profit margins, etc. ... but don't settle with trashy ingredients for the toppings *and* charge a premium. So what about portion? Well, I figure there was a total of 18 tots given to me. For $12. Do the math. Toppings weren't skimpy, but I wish they were, just because the quality wasn't there. I should have just gotten their naked freezer bag tots. At least then I'd've known what I was getting. Never again. With that said, I want to immediately give credit where it is due. The young lady who helped me at the front counter--whether she was the owner, manager, or an employee--was absolutely wonderful. She was polite, welcoming, and extremely helpful in every interaction. She had a genuine smile from ear to ear and a warm, positive presence that truly stood out. Even though it was quite cold outside, her attitude and energy completely changed the atmosphere. Her customer service was exceptional and honestly one of the highlights of the entire experience. I decided to try this food truck while working at a convention. After looking over the menu posted on the side of the truck, I noticed it was fairly small, but still offered a handful of appealing options. One particular hot dog pictured on the menu caught my attention, and that is what I ordered. However, what I received was actually the chili cheese dog listed on the written menu, not the one shown in the photo. That immediately lowered my expectations, as I was unsure whether certain ingredients were unavailable or if the order was simply prepared incorrectly. Rather than cause an issue on the spot, I took my photos, said thank you, and went on my way. Once I sat down and started eating, I can say that the fries were cooked very well. They were nicely seasoned, crispy on the outside, and soft in the middle--exactly how good fries should be. The hot dog itself, however, was where things fell short for me. I do wish I had received the correct item, as this particular hot dog did not stand out in terms of quality or flavor. The hot dog could have been thicker, and personally, I would have preferred an all-beef hot dog. Additionally, the chili tasted more like a bean-based sauce, whereas traditional hot dog chili is typically a meat sauce. While it still tasted decent overall, it did not quite justify the price point in my opinion. After looking up their full restaurant and reviewing the broader menu they offer at their physical location, I don't feel it's entirely fair to judge them too harshly based on this single food truck experience. Their brick-and-mortar restaurant appears to offer a much wider selection with more depth and variety, which likely better represents what they are capable of. Would I recommend this specific meal from the food truck? No. Would I recommend the food truck in general? With caution. I would encourage people to try it if they are able to order items that more closely resemble what is served at the restaurant itself. I do wish more of those restaurant options were available on the food truck, as that likely would have made a big difference. Would I try this food truck again with the same limited menu? Probably not. However, would I absolutely be interested in visiting and reviewing the actual restaurant with its larger and more complete menu? Yes, without hesitation. Everyone their was trying to assist me and to answer any questions about the food and the menu that I had. My husband tried their chicken and I had the lamb chops. The chicken was very tender and moist. All of the sides where a hit . Those lamb chops were excellent. I can tell that they Marinated them. They were also tender. I have never eaten lamb chops that way. I was trying to get all the meat and seasoning off the bone. It was that good. I will be sure to check them out on social media so I can see where they will be at next. Definitely would like to try them again.

Inwas happy it was not a fish or an eel sauce. It was light sweet soy aaucw with a smidgen of red pepper. I'll pay extra to get an another, if that's an option? One member of my family doesn't eat very spicy food and the chicken breasts ended up being jerk with the bbq sauce and while I thought it was flavorful, he was unable to tolerate it. Slightly disappointing. They were out of the actual bbq chicken and said they only had chicken breasts and could put the sauce on them which I agreed to not realizing the chicken breasts were indeed jerk so I will say it was just more of a miscommunication versus food issue. I ordered cabbage, broccoli, and yellow rice for the veggie plate but realized upon getting home that there was not any cabbage but collard greens in the plate. The side of macaroni & cornbread were the only okay items. I had to throw away the rest. They were supposed to open at 12. When I got there at 12:15, the lights were off & people had been waiting. We were told they would be ready by 12:30 & certain things were missing from the menu or will be ready later on in the day. They started taking the first orders around 12:45. I didn't get my food till about 1:30 so I spent a little over an hour killing time. Though the staff was friendly, I will not be returning.
