This was my first time here and I really enjoyed it. We're from out of town and didn't realize everything in Marshall would be slammed during the holidays. We didn't know where to go, so I called and spoke with the manager. He was so nice and put us on the waitlist. When we got there we only had a 5 minute wait. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive for our party of 9. I'm really picky when it comes to salsa and I loved theirs. The other complimentary dip you get was really good as well. We went to the Jalapeño Tree for lunch in Marshall while on the road and we liked it so much we wished we had stopped here before today. The food was great-I had beef fajita quesadillas and my husband had beef fajitas. The beef was excellent-flavorful and tender. I don't think the tortillas were made in house but they were still very good. The customer service from our waitress, Taryn, was outstanding! We'll definitely return on a future trip! read more

The Jalapeño Tree in Marshall Texas - We waited 30 minutes for our drinks (draft beer & Skinny Margarita). Service was S L O W... People behind our booth were making the same comments as we arrived and they were leaving. Manager on duty (Taylor) made our drinks and said the delay in making our drinks was because he has to do manager duties, and to go orders, and make drinks, etc... We have been to All the Jalapeño Trees and like supporting a smaller business, but... we will take our money else where if the service does not improve. read more

We stopped at Jalapeño Tree while traveling. We were seated promptly, and our server was quick to take our order. She was also very personable. I got the loaded tots. They're a LOT of food, and the pickled onion with them is *chef's kiss.* We all enjoyed what we ordered, and the sopapilla for dessert was the perfect finishing touch. They served it with both honey and cinnamon butter. So very good, and the sopapilla is shaped like a jalapeño. I thought that was fun! We'll eat here again when we're in the area. read more

We were traveling from Destin FL to our place in Texas. Got a strong hankering for Tex-Mex, and this place did not disappoint! The chips were fresh and delicious, the charro beans may be the best I've ever tasted, the stuffed poblano was cooked to perfection, with a delicious, smoky flavor.. and their margarita (made with their own reposado) was out of this world! I am SUPER PICKY about margaritas, and I hit the jackpot with this one. Our server was terrific as well, and the manager checked on us several times. They seated us quickly and chips and drinks were out quickly. The food came out promptly and was hot and yummy. Headed home to Arkansas and stopped in bc of the name. lol The food was absolutely wonderful!!! The freshest chips I have ever had and the green salsa was soooo good! I had a fajita bowl ( taking most of it home being as I ate to much chips and dip lol). My husband had a few different thinks off the make your own combo meal. On a return visit, a friendly and attentive server brought me a diced-up jalapeño that I could put in the salsa to give it some much-needed flavor. That helped a lot, otherwise, it's just chips and ketchup. The "spicy" queso missed the mark and had a distinctive sour taste. It was taken off the bill. The crispy beef tacos were excellent and served on a piping-hot plate, the way good Tex-Mex should be served. I know it's been tough for the restaurant industry, but there's no excuse for not keeping a place clean. Me n Mom have eaten several times at The Jalapeño Tree, and this was the first time I was disappointed. Our server disappeared often and we had to ask for items, multiple times. Refill were hard to come by. (And again- sometimes we had to ask 2-3x) The sauces were good- as they always are. But the chicken club taco was awful. It's the first time I've ever ordered something and did not like it. On the flip side, the white queso was very good. But they didn't bring chips out. And the Basket that came out with the salsa was empty so we had to just stare at the cheese until we got more. ‍ I can't say I don't recommend the restaurant, because we've been there before and it was great. Third visit tonight-two out of three visits have been disappointing. The service is incredible slow. Tonight, we were seated and sat 15 minutes with no one speaking to us. We stopped in for lunch. After being seated, it took quite some time for someone to even ask us what we wanted to drink. (it was NOT busy at all). After finally being asked what we wanted to drink, at the same time we were asked if we were ready to order, we finally got our water. We had to ask for chips and salsa. While eating the salsa, we found a plastic ring in the salsa. The reply of the wait staff was "Oh that's gross". Nothing more. We asked the manager if she was made aware of this and she replied "Yes, but I've seen worse, like paper clips, etc". We will NEVER return to another Jalapeno Tree again. The service was terrible, the food was NOT worth it, and the response of both the wait staff and manager of the plastic item being found in the salsa bowl was UNACCEPTABLE! read more

Mother's Day special was stomach cramps. In the trash bag, zoom in to see one wasn't opened and one was opened to take a pic. The floor manager yelling at staff in front of customers drops the opinion a good bit. This ain't the Army and (hopefully) no one dies, no matter how bad the food. Dressing down staff in front of customers is unprofessional and shows inability to handle the heat of a busy rush. In this case, since they can't stand the heat, they need to get BACK INTO the kitchen. The interior has little difference from other cookie cutter type restaurants but the floor is always greasy to the point of dangerous. Walk slowly if you go here. Our order was wrong. After it was corrected, it was still wrong but we didn't catch it. (See pic) Beans missing totally. There is fajita meat on top of a cheese enchilada. Not sure if this is considered a chicken enchilada anywhere, but I've not seen it. I almost expect someone to jump out and yell "Gotcha", "April Fools", or something to indicate this was joke. The food here always bounces between mediocre and below average. This is the first time I've been physically ill rather than just disappointed. Apparently this is a chain and you can see reviews for other chain sites on Yelp. Seems they can't break 4 stars and it's obvious why. We were told we would be refunded the cost (but not aggravation), so we will see. I will update either way. UPDATE: Wife and mother in law both tried and were told the refund would be coming. Had the following Bonus. I think they make the tort chips they were pretty perfectly lite and crispy Habanero pork tamale. It's a pork tamale with habanero sauce poured over it. i had mine in the side. Decent tamale not the best. Was not impressed with the sauce though.. Tortilla soup. Don't order this Campbell's soup. The totilas were in the soup so they were instantly old cereal soggy. Very disappointing because I love tortilla soup. Fajita chicken quesadilla This was good. Toasted outside so there was a crisp chew. I chose Blanco queso. Needless to say this is what I will order from here if I were you. Lots of flavors pouring out of this. Atmosphere. The soundtrack in the background was great. Playing eighties popular music. Was just loud enough to drown out outside conversations. Surroundings are like a cantina in a barn. But Texas style Bonus note. They have a good tequila selection. It makes me sad when I go to a Mex or tex Mex and they only have a few tequila options. I think I recall 6 or 7 different anejo options here. They also had respasado and silver They do not take reservations so a large party can show up out of no where and disappear your waitress. Don't be mad at the wait staff. It's the business model that screwed you. They should require reservations for parties of 13 or more. The Fried Fish didn't show up and the Traditional Nachos was 6 chips with less than tablespoon of meat spread between them and even less cheese. Summary: Jalapeno Tree needs to up its game. Visiting from the Pacific NW, Jalapeno Tree was recommended to me. Many restaurants are moving to "Farm to Table" menu items - another way of saying they serve very fresh items made with fresh ingredients. Jalapeno Tree bucks that trend - the only thing fresh was three small pieces of tomato on top of the guacamole. The salsa has the consistency of ketchup and has a sweet taste, like someone-added ketchup to it. Myself, I like chunky salsa that has chunks of peppers, onion, and tomato and a has little kick to it. On the other hand, the guacamole had very little to no taste of avocado at all. The refried beans tasted as if they came out of a can - no flavor. It is difficult to mess up Mexican food so that it has no flavor - Jalapeno Tree seems to have succeeded. On the good side, the service was quick, the dinner plate was hot. The server was there when needed and the dinner was not expensive. read more

FOOD: I ate a beef burrito (but I ordered chicken). It was literally just ground beef in a smothered tortilla. Nothing else. There was no flavor and it was notably small compared to similar restaurants. The beef was also dry and had to be paired with the subpar white queso to be edible. The chips and salsa were also subpar with watery salsa. They provide free cheese dip, but it is served chilled and does not taste good. SERVICE: As previously mentioned, I received beef when I ordered chicken. It also took 10 minutes for water to be delivered to the table. The waitress never checked in on us or even looked our way so we could never catch her attention the whole time we were there. The free chips were all crushed to bits like they were from the bottom of the bag. Do not waste your time and money here. You can get much more food and better quality with far better service for similar prices elsewhere. read more

I had to give myself some time to reflect on this and make sure I wasn't overthinking it. Everyone that has seen the videos and pictures as well as heard the story agrees that we were discriminated against plain and simple. Why do I say that you might be wondering? Because I have a trained service dog and I could tell right away there would be issues as the hostess and the waitresses were huddled together discussing what to do. Shame since me and my partner both have great hearing and heard what was going on. They sat us in the furthest seat away from everyone else in the restaurant. We were so far back that our waitress would for get that we where there and we went for very long intervals with no refills or service of any kind. I've traveled the world and I've dealt with all types of people. Our waitress was rude to the point it was almost unbearable. When you are at work you need to use proper language, I'm not one of your homies that you can just talk to like that. I own a very well known company and my partner is a well known lawyer yet you still chose to discriminate against us. This is not the last you will hear from me by a long shot. After the below subpar meal for what could barely pass as Tex-Mex I asked to speak to the manager and this is something I never do. It took between 15 and 20 minutes before a very unsympathetic manager came and for some odd reason sat right next to me and asked how everything went. I began to explain and he just continued to interrupt me and assured us we weren't being discriminated against. He kept blaming the new girl for everything well guess what if you did a better job training you wouldn't have these issues so stop trying to pass the blame and be a real manager and deal with the issue at hand. We knew what you were doing and that got under my skin and my followers skin as well. My baby girl is more well behaved than most children and adults. She can tell when someone is being mean or causing an issue over her. When we got back to the table she curled up and would not leave my side at all. You should all feel ashamed of yourselves. She helps me in ways you can only imagine. The portion size of the chimichanga was maybe a burrito size at best. There are numerous food places to eat at in this town and this one does not deserve a second chance. He thought he was being benevolent by taking some of the charges off which he labeled as "server error" that was the first time I'd ever seen that code used and no one else I knew had seen it either. read more

Absolutely the worst Tex Mex you can get for 500 miles. The servers are nice and will take care of you but the kitchen is slow and lacking any knowledge of cooking Mexican food. Waited over an hour for enchilada plates on a Saturday evening when only 7 tables were occupied in the whole restaurant. Brought us out cold Queso and for some odd reason stacked the meat on top of our enchiladas? We didn't even touch our main entrees we wasted 70 bucks on a basket of chips and salsa highly recommended not eating here at all costs. If I could go well into the negative ratings I would. First off my wife loved the Bob Hope there, don't ask me why but she did. I picked up a to go order for here there and when I got it home a roach crawled out of the box. I took here to eat there after the roach incident because she was full believed that it was a fluke. The waitress we had was just the drizzling shits of humanity. She was too busy trying to screw a guy at the bar to get tires on her car. I was out of tea and had to drink from my wife's glass because our waitress was refusing to do her job. When she brought our food she basically heaved the plates on the table then went right back to the guy at the bar. I attempted to flag her down for a drink refill and she completely ignored me. I had to flag down another waitress to bring out our bill so we could pay and leave. Service like that deserves to see the waiter and or waitress thrown out the door. read more
