You can look at the web-site for this fabulous 2* rated Inn, but that doesn't tell the whole story. For example it can't tell you how the place feels, the warmth of welcome you get, nor the whole ambience of people, the Inn and, especially the surroundings.
The Dalwhinnie is an unuual, historic Inn located in the Cairngorms National Park, offering more-than-comfortable accommodation. They rent out mountain bikes too and also have drying facilities for wet clothes, which we found to be a massive bonus!
One of the best assets of this hotel is in the lounge on the upper floor - it has a fully glazed wall, affording magnificent views over the River Truim toward the Cairngorms, and is truely spectacular.
The relaxing river-side restaurant serves deliciously fulfilling food, with a wide & varied menu, and the staff provide wonderful service.
Arrive late in the evening and watch the shadows creep across the wide vista of the Loch: Rise at dawn and watch the sun burn the early morning mist from the water's
surface.
Make time to arrange a visit to the nearby distillery; but beware too many samples, as your short journey back to the Inn may require more than a steadying hand!! But make sure you buy a bottle or two of the malt.
