I had been in Scotland for almost a week at this point and it was also the first time that I had ever been charged for water. That was something I kinda wished they would have mentioned to us if they were going to do that. That's not cool man. It really comes off as shady. For food I ordered the Seafood Risotto and there was practically no flavor. When I asked my friends how they felt about their dishes, it was unanimous around the table. Maybe the chef just quit the night before and they were trying to make do with what they have and know? It's just weird right? You see the pictures and see how cool The Inch looks inside and out and just figure if they have a restaurant that it's going to have at least "some" form of quality to the food. But there was none to be found unfortunately and you are left just feeling like this place is a tourist trap. So yea can't recommend the food here. Then again it is a small area. When we checked in the lovely girl came outside to greet us. It was the sweetest hotel check in ever!! Our room was lovely. There's a huge living room with a fireplace that they lit downstairs. That was my favorite place to hang out. There was also chairs outside overlooking the lake and it was so quiet and peaceful at night. And there's a little hike behind the hotels to the waterfall. It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was superior. Naturally we had one of the very few rooms in the hotel that doesn't have a loch view! However, the room was very spacious with a separate seating area and space to watch television from the sofa. Although overall the hotel is of a good standard there were a few wee snags - the television only receives terrestrial channels (& only 3 of them when we were there), some of the decor is looking rather tired and the gym/pool facilities could also benefit from some attention. The bar is pleasant and all the staff were as helpful as could be.

We ate here both evenings and meals were excellent especially their fish and chips which was fresh, super tasty and delicious. Deserts were a little disappointing but a good effort as all homemade. The wine list is neat, well thought out, with some excellent choices from small producers and as a bonus without the huge mark on price! Their house champagne tasted exceptional and even better in the sunshine sitting in the garden. Breakfast on both mornings was very enjoyable with a great choice and staff and chefs happy to accommodate requests. The superior double room was very nice, spacious yet cosy and overlooked the tree lined hills, we even had a decanter of whiskey and proper coffee with a mini cafetière- heaven ;) Would highly recommend this place for a wee break away -for peace and quiet and relaxation. Warm, relaxing atmosphere, comfortable beds, lovely decor and top notch food. The house itself is an integral part of an original Arts and Crafts model village and thus sits well and aesthetically in its surroundings. Even offers huntin', shootin' and fishin' for them as likes that sort of thing, and we were intrigued by the information section on 'arriving by helicopter'! The area's steeped in history too, with Neolithic and reputedly Roman remains nearby, and the famous Fortingall Yew (thought to be around 5000 years old) in the churchyard next to the hotel. Dying to go back there some day.
