On the search for a wee hotel deal for an overnight stay we booked a night at the Atholl palace through one of the deal websites.
At £115 for a room it was a fairly good deal, and we were pleased when we entered the grounds that it looked so grand!
On arrival the receptionist was really friendly, offering us an arrival whiskey (we had to decline as we were planning on driving later). The reception areas are really nice with some comfy seats and fires. Our room on the third floor was one of the corner rooms and had great views out to the gorgeous forest landscape. It was a little tired looking in places though - some rusty bits here and there and the carpet was a bit threadbare in places, but it served us well for our stay.
We had a quick visit to the sauna and jacuzzi which was nice enough and a very quick dip in the pool. This area was again a bit tired looking, but we noted that they seemed to be in the process of some refurbishment, and we weren't overly bothered by this.
For meals, the dinner menu didn't really appeal much at £30 a head so we sauntered down to the town for a meal in a pub.
Breakfast the next day was buffet style and the views from the dining area were lovely; especially with the sun blazing in the window on a bright sunny winters day.
There was a good selection of cereals, breads, yogurts, fruit and hot plate offerings including sausages, eggs, bacon etc and fruit juices/ tea/coffees and as this was included in the price seemed really good value for money.
