I've had the pleasure of being in a virtual Yelp event with Cindy teaching us her insanely rich and chewy triple chocolate brownies recipe and chocolate ganache. The goodies were packaged with care and came with a sweet note from Cindy. They even survived the Texas heat. With great anticipation, I tracked the order and I finally received the text that it had been delivered, so I rushed to my front door and wala - chocolate brownies and chocolate chip banana bread!! I warmed up each item for about 10 seconds and gosh, both are so good with either a cold glass of whole milk or a hot cup of coffee. So I thought my favorite cake from The Hungry Monkey was their carrot cake, but it's actually their apple cinnamon streusal cake! Don't get me wrong, I LOVED everything that I ordered and tried, but I do have some favorites! I like cinnamon treats and the apple cake streusal has just the perfect amount of cinnamon where I can taste it in every bite without being overwhelming. The apples are evenly distributed throughout the cake and it was so so moist! The streusal topping just ties it all together and gives it added textures and flavor! I highly recommend trying this one! Don't forget the brownies too, they're also my favorite! Cindy, the owner, graciously sent me a pumpkin tea bread and another chocolate chip banana nut bread since there was a mix up with my first order and I am so thankful she did! It was crazy hot in California when my first order arrived and I believe the treats sat in the heat for a while because the choco. chip banana bread wasn't that moist the first time. I must preface with the fact that I never do this. What don't I ever do? Write a review immediately after receiving a product - that's what! Somehow, though, I cannot resist with this. You see, I found out about The Hungry Monkey Baking Company about a month or so ago through a virtual Yelp event. I participated in it and made these gooey and super infused with chocolate brownies. To add to this, I added ganache, and that was so rich, lovelies, that next time I will pass on it. I love me some chocolate, but I do have my limits. That being said, Cindy was the hostess for this event and I just adored her recipe, and more so, her life story. She just oozes a sort of positive energy on screen. I knew at some point I would order from her, the only question was when. Well, when ended up being last Sunday, and well, it's Thursday and I just got my order, so can you say lightning fast speed, considering my treats came from the Chicago area all the way down to the Miami area? WHOA BABY. My adventures stalking UPS and anxiously waiting for these trio of chocolate chip banana breads aside, I loved the packaging and the handwritten note. You can definitely tell a lot of TLC is put into these products. As for the trio of chocolate chip banana breads I ordered, yes, they're basic compared to the variety of goodies Cindy has on her site, but they're downright delicious. I ordered this trio, hoping to give one to my dear friend, Sergio F. (who sadly I didn't give brownies to as my refrigerator totally made my brownies go bad way too soon), and one as well to my boyfriend's sister-in-law who is a real sweetheart. The last one is for me, and well, for whomever I may love to give a bit of a piece to. I'm not being greedy, I swear. I ate a bite upon arrival and it was beyond fresh. The breads were perfectly sealed and just so heavenly for anyone who appreciates a good chunk of chocolate. I'm way excited to give these to my loved ones, but more so, I'm excited to eat more (when my stomach permits, of course). I just received my surprise package fro Hungry Monkey. I was fortunate to be one of the winners of their "elite perk". The package contained three huge chewy chocolate brownies and a chocolate chip banana cake. I'm not a baker, so finding a place to order such delicious rich desserts is a plus! The brownies were so decadent. I had a fourth of one and was completely satisfied. I haven't had a chance to try the banana cake. It looks so moist. Easily the best brownies I have ever had. They were almost like fudge but pillowy soft at the same time. I can't stop thinking about them and shall require more soon. This isn't necessarily a review of the Hungry Monkey Baking Company products but more a review of the amazing customer service I got from Cindy and her crew! After attending a Yelp virtual event a few months ago (we made amazing brownies btw), I decided to order a gift for a friend. I must have been either drunk or half asleep when I did though because I mixed up the shipping/billing address and didn't notice until after I got an email that the package was shipped. I sent Cindy an email after midnight and I got a response within minutes! Long story short, the addresses got changed but Cindy went above and beyond to make my mistake right, including spending an hour on the phone with UPS! Dealing with Cindy and Hungry Monkey reminds me of why I'm thankful of all the amazing small businesses we have in this country and I hope to make another order from them in the future!
