    Tuesday MTG crew!

I've been here just 2 times now but it's enough for me to give my rating. The vibe here is just amazing, everyone that plays and works here is welcoming and nice. They have product and a great place to play your board games or TCG. They also have food and snacks so you don't have to take massive breaks for lunch. I mostly play MTG here but I've seen lots of DND groups and pokemon groups, they have league on Saturday for pokemon!

Downgraded a star instead of 5 stars since the used board games were quoted to us at regular prices. Also, another game that we purchased was the only one in stock and was unwrapped with the sides taped. Since I wanted to purchase the game, the co-owner or manager said that if anything is missing to let them know. The cafe is up and running now with an interesting menu including pork belly pizza. Didn't try the food yet. Nice owners. Store is super clean as they are just a few months in biz. More like 3.75 stars but, we'll round up to 4.

First time here to check out this new shop. Very clean and spacious and in a great area. Owner is very nice too. The lemonade was pretty good. This looks like a fun place to come hangout with friends and play games. Definitely recommend stopping by here to check it out. I'll be back soon.

The Hungry Dragon is a gem in the Murrieta/Temecula area. Their wide variety of board games--both available to play (free to play with any purchase or $5 without for up to 3 hours), and to purchase--coupled with a nice stock of card and table top RPG games like Magic the Gathering, Lorcana, Dungeons & Dragons, Warmhammer, etc... makes it impossible to get bored *pun intended* during your visit. There's ample opportunities to learn new games, meet new people, and taste delicious eats. I've played through The Hungry Dragon's "learn to play D&D" quest line, a handful of one shots, several new board games I hadn't tried before, and most recently I participated in Free RPG day! I have yet to be disappointed by the hospitality of the owners Johnny & Kevin--if their mission is to make this third space feel like a pressure free & fun way to have fun and make new friends, they are rolling Nat 20s left and right (but not too many in a row bc apparently that's like rolling doubles three times in Monopoly)! Keep it up!!!

A place to hang out, play D&D or rent games to play with friends and family. They will have a cafe open soon. Check them out.

Great atmosphere! Friendly staff. They've quickly turned into one of my favorite spots in the area. They support local artists. They have fun events, family-friendly place, with great tater tots!

What a great surprise to find this hidden treasure, which is billed as both cafe and game meetup place, on the day after the grand opening. The cafe is pretty basic--sandwiches, chips, and soft drinks; I had the creatively named Witch's Brew. The big draw here is the collection of role play and table games. Full of families, couples, and random people, all enjoying a Sunday afternoon playing games, this little dragon's lair is definitely a welcome addition to the community!

Ask the Community - The Hungry Dragon

If we have a group of people that want to come and play board games, are we able to rent or borrow board games at the store or do we need to bring our own?

We have open gaming all week, but priority would go to our events. Generally we have enough space to accommodate everyone. Renting our tables is another option. You can call or DM requesting a table.… Read more

It used to feel like a chill hole in the wall full of cool people, now it feels very cold and depressing. The layout feels less intuitive to navigate, too but that's more of a nitpick. I used to play Digimon here between 2021 and 2023. They were generally fun and the players were mostly great, aside from the tourists who were only playing because they're mad at Magic and Pokemon, but that's not a conversation for a Yelp review about this store. My one complaint was how a lot of the employees were super elitist about it because it wasn't a popular "real" card game. Not even just saying that, an employee once straight up said I should "graduate to a real card game". I don't remember which employee it was, but the lack of self awareness of someone talking down to someone over TCGs astounds me. I remember two players having a ruling issue during a Digimon tourney and the same employee proctoring the games was very insulting and irritated the whole time, rolling his eyes, complaining and saying he didn't "understand this crap". It's bad enough that an employee does not know the rules of games they are proctoring at a game shop that's hosting the tournaments, but to have such a crappy demeanor? I know geeks are socially challenged, I'm not an exception to this but ffs try, it's your job man. Absolutely not something that makes you wanna come back. I briefly switched to SoCal Games and Comics (now Sanctum) after that, but my issue with that shop was the playerbase, not the employees. I've had some employees not know what they're doing regarding bonus packs that come with booster boxes before, and at least twice have had ones not given to me despite me visibly seeing them in stock. If you work at a game store you should know what releases come with what. That said, there was one employee who was excellent about it and props to him. That guy played Digimon, though, so that's likely why he knew what he was doing. Anyway, I still shop here from time to time but I don't really have a reason to come back now that they've stopped hosting Digimon tournaments in lieu of One Piece (Bandai treats the properties similarly!), which is fine considering the poor judging/proctoring. One Piece probably comes off more like a 'real' card game so best of luck and all. That event really left a bad taste in my mouth about this place, unfortunately. I will say the prices are good, they don't inflate them like other card shops do.

The atmosphere is welcoming, organized, and perfect for both collectors and casual players. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, whether you're talking about Warhammer, Pokémon cards, or One Piece TCG. I had a great personal experience shopping here--Rob and Dan was friendly, patient, and willing to answer questions or share insights about upcoming sets and events. The Warhammer selection is top-notch, with plenty of paints, minis, and supplies. Their One Piece card inventory is well-stocked and fairly priced, with a genuine focus on building community rather than just making sales. They have a limit of pokemon cards and make that for the younger generations to have. Whether you're looking to expand your collection, play in a tournament, or just hang out with fellow fans, Sanctum Temecula offers a positive and professional environment that makes you want to come back. Highly recommended for anyone who loves trading cards and tabletop gaming!

Though there are other shops in the area that are closer to where I live, I never hesitate to go out of my way to come here. The people there are always welcoming, knowledgeable, and engaging. Through their various events, they've also created a community of collectors that I'm happy to be a part of. The other card shops in the area don't seem to engage with the community on the same level as Honey Hole. The prices are very reasonable and the selection of products and singles is always rich and dynamic. For better or for worse, I never fail to find something new I want to pick up. I also appreciate the fact that they have a partnership with a pre-grading/card cleaning company, Market2Mint. For someone that was new to grading cards, the ease of dropping cards off at the shop to be pre-graded really helped me get my collection to the next level. Special shoutout to Matt who leads the team there. My wife and I always enjoy spending extra time hanging out and talking to him and the team about the latest and greatest. The other two locations in Southern California (Escondido & San Diego) are also great and are definitely worth checking out. Definitely don't miss this place if you're deep in the hobby or just starting out.

It's tucked in a tiny plaza right next to Panda Express, and the parking is super convenient -- there's plenty of space so you don't have to circle forever. This place is absolutely adorable inside, with tons of claw machines full of plushies, anime figures, keychains, gacha machines, and fun collectibles that make your heart go . They also have snacks, drinks, and lots of cute merch to browse while you play! Hours: * Monday-Thursday & Sunday: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM * Friday & Saturday: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM These hours make it perfect for an after‑school stop, a weekend outing, or a fun date! Play Card / Ticket Tips: They use a play card system -- you load tickets/credits onto a card and then use it to play the machines. I recommend grabbing enough credits so you can play a few machines without having to reload right away! (It just makes it more fun & less stop‑start.) Pro tip: If you win something, staff are super friendly and happy to help you get your prize out of the machine or exchange it! What I LOVED: The customer service is AMAZING -- had the same sweet lady helping us both times, and she made the visit extra special. So many adorable prizes and anime figurines that are actually worth trying for! Cute shopping vibe, great for kids AND adults who love kawaii stuff! What could be better: One machine wasn't working the day we went -- kind of a bummer! A few machines sometimes have repeats of the same plushies if you've visited before. But honestly, still cute overall! If you're into claw machines, cute anime merch, and fun little hangouts, this place is an absolute must‑visit!
