Downgraded a star instead of 5 stars since the used board games were quoted to us at regular prices. Also, another game that we purchased was the only one in stock and was unwrapped with the sides taped. Since I wanted to purchase the game, the co-owner or manager said that if anything is missing to let them know. The cafe is up and running now with an interesting menu including pork belly pizza. Didn't try the food yet. Nice owners. Store is super clean as they are just a few months in biz. More like 3.75 stars but, we'll round up to 4.

I've been here just 2 times now but it's enough for me to give my rating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe here is just amazing, everyone that plays and works here is welcoming and nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have product and a great place to play your board games or TCG.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have food and snacks so you don't have to take massive breaks for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I mostly play MTG here but I've seen lots of DND groups and pokemon groups, they have league on Saturday for pokemon![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time here to check out this new shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very clean and spacious and in a great area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Owner is very nice too. The lemonade was pretty good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This looks like a fun place to come hangout with friends and play games.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend stopping by here to check it out. I'll be back soon.

A place to hang out, play D&D or rent games to play with friends and family. They will have a cafe open soon. Check them out.

The Hungry Dragon is a gem in the Murrieta/Temecula area. Their wide variety of board games--both available to play (free to play with any purchase or $5 without for up to 3 hours), and to purchase--coupled with a nice stock of card and table top RPG games like Magic the Gathering, Lorcana, Dungeons & Dragons, Warmhammer, etc... makes it impossible to get bored *pun intended* during your visit. There's ample opportunities to learn new games, meet new people, and taste delicious eats. I've played through The Hungry Dragon's "learn to play D&D" quest line, a handful of one shots, several new board games I hadn't tried before, and most recently I participated in Free RPG day! I have yet to be disappointed by the hospitality of the owners Johnny & Kevin--if their mission is to make this third space feel like a pressure free & fun way to have fun and make new friends, they are rolling Nat 20s left and right (but not too many in a row bc apparently that's like rolling doubles three times in Monopoly)! Keep it up!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly staff. They've quickly turned into one of my favorite spots in the area. They support local artists. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have fun events, family-friendly place, with great tater tots![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What a great surprise to find this hidden treasure, which is billed as both cafe and game meetup place, on the day after the grand opening. The cafe is pretty basic--sandwiches, chips, and soft drinks; I had the creatively named Witch's Brew. The big draw here is the collection of role play and table games. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Full of families, couples, and random people, all enjoying a Sunday afternoon playing games, this little dragon's lair is definitely a welcome addition to the community![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Ask the Community - The Hungry Dragon

If we have a group of people that want to come and play board games, are we able to rent or borrow board games at the store or do we need to bring our own?

We have open gaming all week, but priority would go to our events. Generally we have enough space to accommodate everyone. Renting our tables is another option. You can call or DM requesting a table.…

This store is unfortunately starting to feel more like a GameStop than a dedicated TCG shop. The…read morebiggest issue is the "Cultist" membership, which costs approximately $70 per month and, in my opinion, provides very little value for the average customer. The advertised benefits include access to sealed products at market pricing, 5% off singles, and entries into a lottery for the opportunity to purchase certain products at MSRP. However, these perks fall short when the store often has a very limited selection of singles available. Most of the binder inventory consists of heavily played or damaged cards, and there is rarely enough desirable inventory in-store to justify the membership cost. What makes this especially disappointing is that the store wasn't always this way. There was a time when they carried a strong selection of collectible cards and competitively priced sealed products. Today, the retail location feels more like a means to maintain distributor relationships than a store focused on serving the local community. While they are undoubtedly one of the largest names in the TCG industry, that reputation seems to come primarily from their presence at conventions and card shows. The physical storefront often lacks the inventory and customer experience that many collectors expect from a premier hobby shop. To their credit, they offer respectable trade-in values. Unfortunately, those trade-in percentages lose much of their appeal when there is little desirable inventory available to put that store credit toward. On the rare occasions that higher-end products or graded cards are available, the selection tends to be limited and often consists of less sought-after CGC or TAG slabs rather than cards many collectors are actively looking for. I genuinely used to enjoy visiting this store, which makes this review disappointing to write. However, based on my recent experiences, there are better local options for collectors and players looking for inventory, value, and an authentic hobby shop experience. Stores like Rizo and Tier 1 have done a much better job of maintaining the qualities that make a card shop worth visiting.

Though there are other shops in the area that are closer to where I live, I never hesitate to go out of my way to come here. The people there are always welcoming, knowledgeable, and engaging. Through their various events, they've also created a community of collectors that I'm happy to be a part of. The other card shops in the area don't seem to engage with the community on the same level as Honey Hole. The prices are very reasonable and the selection of products and singles is always rich and dynamic. For better or for worse, I never fail to find something new I want to pick up. I also appreciate the fact that they have a partnership with a pre-grading/card cleaning company, Market2Mint. For someone that was new to grading cards, the ease of dropping cards off at the shop to be pre-graded really helped me get my collection to the next level. Special shoutout to Matt who leads the team there. My wife and I always enjoy spending extra time hanging out and talking to him and the team about the latest and greatest. The other two locations in Southern California (Escondido & San Diego) are also great and are definitely worth checking out. Definitely don't miss this place if you're deep in the hobby or just starting out.

It's tucked in a tiny plaza right next to Panda Express, and the parking is super convenient -- there's plenty of space so you don't have to circle forever. This place is absolutely adorable inside, with tons of claw machines full of plushies, anime figures, keychains, gacha machines, and fun collectibles that make your heart go . They also have snacks, drinks, and lots of cute merch to browse while you play! Hours: * Monday-Thursday & Sunday: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM * Friday & Saturday: 11:30 AM - 9:00 PM These hours make it perfect for an after‑school stop, a weekend outing, or a fun date! Play Card / Ticket Tips: They use a play card system -- you load tickets/credits onto a card and then use it to play the machines. I recommend grabbing enough credits so you can play a few machines without having to reload right away! (It just makes it more fun & less stop‑start.) Pro tip: If you win something, staff are super friendly and happy to help you get your prize out of the machine or exchange it! What I LOVED: The customer service is AMAZING -- had the same sweet lady helping us both times, and she made the visit extra special. So many adorable prizes and anime figurines that are actually worth trying for! Cute shopping vibe, great for kids AND adults who love kawaii stuff! What could be better: One machine wasn't working the day we went -- kind of a bummer! A few machines sometimes have repeats of the same plushies if you've visited before. But honestly, still cute overall! If you're into claw machines, cute anime merch, and fun little hangouts, this place is an absolute must‑visit!
