This place has a great selection of records covering wide range of genres for such a small place. It doesn't sell much merchandise other than some stickers and posters, but makes up for it with its selection of vinyl records and 45s. It has numerous categories, but I just focused on my favorite ones - punk, 80s, alternative, and rock. I didn't buy anything today because I didn't want to walk around the area with bunch of records, but I already have an idea of few records I want to buy next time I'm here (assuming someone doesn't buy them). read more

Seems like a nice spot. Can't really tell since they're still closed an hour after their posted opening time. Met a guy waiting outside with a box full of vinyl records. He said he spoke with someone yesterday telling him to bring his collection in at 2pm. He was told they'll be there in 5 minutes after calling them... that was at 2:10pm. I'm writing this at 3pm and they're still closed. I had a lot of time and really wanted to check out this store. While waiting, I couldn't help but notice people stopping by to try and open the door, look through the window, and comparing the time on the window to their phones. It's dissatisfying to see all of them do the same thing, with the expectation that it's open. Something tells me this isn't the first time they don't open on time. read more

O M G! This place was the best. One area has albums for $3 or 4 for $20. They had old school Nancy Sinatra, Elvis, Judy Garland and SO MANY more! Also, there is another section where albums go for $10- over a hundred. We even found an album by the group X! A favorite! Just like that old time rock n' roll... I rolled into this quaint record shop one day. I was in search of Cat Stevens on vinyl, specifically seeking an album that had the song "The Wind". I found it! The first album in the front! It was meant to be! The shop carries a broad selection and really packs in both old and new vinyl selections. They even play the albums on a record player at the front of the store upon entering. I spent some time talking with the owner's father who was shopkeeper for the day! My husband and I had returned from a film festival where we viewed the film "Rumble", soon to be out on HBO. The film is how Native American music influenced rock n' roll. He knew about Link Wray and his influence of the power chord on electric guitar. Don't you love how music connects us... I got my album for $10, took it home, played it and it's in great shape. Right now you can get a NM Kinks Lola Lp on Reprise for $150 or you can go on discogs and get one for $40. You can also get a US copy of the World Of Oz for $225 and you will be the first person on the planet to pay that much for it. You can also pay $75 for Bee Gees Idea or you can go on ebay and get one for $10 in similar condition. Maybe drunk tourists enjoy being robbed after a few weekend cocktails. read more

I have been here a couple times (pre-Covid), and ran into issues every time. First time I went was because there used to be a sign in the window saying "we buy used records." I went there with a good 20-30 and the employee said, "I can't buy these." His reasoning was that he "had them" already. It wasn't because of their condition mind you, which was VG+ or better! I don't understand, either you buy records, or you don't. But when someone has a sign that says we buy records, it's misleading when he says "I can't buy these." Other problem is that this place is only open during the week of the new moon, only in months ending in Y, and between 12-2:15, Tues-Thurs. You get the idea, they're NEVER open unless the owner feels like "working" that day. Avoid this place and try Spindles instead. read more

I've gone there multiple times at decent times of the day at around three o clock and they have been closed. I check their business hours before I go to make sure they are open and it is a 15 min drive for me. They have lost my business because I'm sick of playing the guessing game. It's really easy to get lost looking through all the stuff at Old Town Records. I find that they always have a great selection of new and rare stuff on Record Store Day so I usually hit them up first before I visit any other stores in the area. They have a pretty wide selection of classic rock from the '60s through the '80s toward the front of the store and kind of an eclectic mix of other stuff -- punk rock, reggae, r&b and jazz -- toward the back. Their pricing in my opinion is fair. I usually search Amazon and eBay for the same records to see where Old Town Records stacks up. Some of their stuff is more expensive, but I've also found some deals there that come in below what you might find from the internet retailers. The place can get packed around the early afternoon so it's not unusual to have to wait turns to look through a particular crate of LPs. read more

I've never stacked up a pile of records faster. Best punk selection EVER. These guys carry more of the classic hit albums than I've ever seen in a store and they are WAY cheaper than Amoeba- their inventory schools that place too. I was so excited and overwhelmed by that that I completely missed the entire Rock section and will have to go back ASAP. Helpful and friendly, I wish I knew the name of the gentleman that answered all of my questions (record player quality, etc- they have a HUGE inventory of Crosley players, far beyond the usual tabletop "Cruiser" models that you see at every hip store these days). Thanks you guys, I'm SO glad I found a good record spot so close to my new home! ***BONUS POINTS*** I left my stupid wallet here and called two minutes before closing, he kept the store open until I drove back (from Elsinore in rush hour traffic) so I could pick it up. Both times I have been to Temecula, I have stopped into this little gem of a store. I bought my boyfriend a record player for Christmas so we've been slowly trying to build up a collection. The store is very small, which isn't a bad thing; I'd really describe it as getting intimate with the records and maybe even the other people meandering around. It's like one long hallway with records lining every inch of it. The two times I have gone in, the gentlemen working the store were very helpful in not only helping us search for records we were looking for, but when we found something we liked, he would let us sound test it to make sure it didn't have any scratches or sound defects. We've purchased about 8 or so records from here; if we were from the area, we would probably buy more! The only reason I give it a 4/5 and not a 5 is because the organization can be a little frustrating. For example, I was looking for a Hall & Oats record and I looked under the "H" section in Rock, but I was also told it could be in their 80s section under "H", or even in the boxes on the floor that were on sale for $3 for $10...and then one of the employees checked another section for me. It wouldn't have been so bad if the boxes on the floor were at least alphabetized, but I literally had to shift through hundreds of records and didn't find what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it's probably not because they didn't have it but because it's a needle in a haystack. read more

My first time here. I'll likely go back when I have time to go through the whole store, but it's one of those stores where you look forward to what you might find, but aren't certain that you will actually find something - know what I mean? There are a TON of Lps to look through, and some 45s as well, which is rare for a used record store - most generally concentrate on albums. The owner is cool, knowledgeable and friendly (unlike some record store guys who THINK they're knowledgeable but are really just music snobs). When I walked in, Bob Wills was playing, followed by Tom Fogerty, then Johnny Cash. Cool! I spent about 20 minutes. The selection is enormous and includes rock, country, jazz, R&B, punk, metal and a touch of hardcore. The great majority is rock. I found some good titles, but they were not in the condition I expected for the price. For instance, I found a CBS Mastersound half-speed pressing of Journey's "Evolution" I'd been looking for, priced at $25, which is reasonable for this item. But when I inspected the vinyl I found it to be VG+ at best, with some dusty fingerprints and some scuffing I feel sure will be heard even after a really great cleaning and a microfiber brushing. So based on what I've seen so far, I can't give it more than 3 stars. I'll update when I return, but based on my first visit, I think that while you'll probably find a title or two you want, you might pay more than you'd like to get it if it's pristine. Or, if it's reasonably priced, it likely will be a grade below what you were hoping for. read more

Really nice little store in a great location. Nothing fancy - just functional. Some fantastic bargains are out front in the 2 for a dollar sidewalk bins. There are also several games and CD's at bargain rates. The prices inside vary from wildly overpriced to pretty reasonable. ie: Super expensive Beetles albums for the condition they are in. But you can certainly shop for decent vinyl. I like a vinyl store that is organized, and this one is. read more

Absolutely legit shop in a relatively vinyl-free part of the map. Temecula's an odd little wild-west themed tourist town; the Old Town district is full of cantinas and antique shops and yes, a Thomas Kincade gallery, if that tells you anything. So doubly surprising to find a fully worthwhile, even world-class, record store on this "quaint" strip. Pristine, well-organized shop with tons of stuff you'd love to take home, catch being collector pricing on most of it. Found good deals on a surf LP and horror-novelty LP, each priced about half of the going rate, but both were pretty battered, so no thanks. However, grabbed a fat stack of newly arrived 80s synthpop 12" singles, mostly imports in pristine condition, for next to nothing. Extra props for being kind enough to open right on time (1:30pm); swung by with the family on a hot day en route from San Diego to LA and arrived at opening, so didn't have much time to waste. Very professional shop, better than it needs to be in that location, frankly. read more
