    Falafel sandwich on pita
    Jonathan R.

Craving Falafel driving thru Long Branch the Hummus Republic came up on my radar. Picture a chipotle type setup for Salads and Middle Eastern specialties. You can choose a plate, Salad, wrap or Pita as your vessel for your Protein and Vegetables. Several dips, dressings are offered. The falafel was cooked nicely, the hummus was flavorful as was salads and vegetables. I would have liked the pita to be hot as it was lukewarm. For $10 you receive a solid portion of fillings. I am determined to hit every middle eastern joint in the area to find the best Falafel sandwich within 20 miles. Stay tuned. If in pier village, Hummus republic is a great option.

Woah. Baffled by how good the food was. Extremely impressed. First time here and sure to be back. Staff was super friendly too, and everything tasted very freshly made.

This place is a great addition to the restaurants at Long Branch beach. Think Chipotle but Mediterranean! You choose between a pita, wrap, or bowl (listed from cheapest to most expensive), a base (cous cous, chickpeas, or 50/50), a protein (chicken shawarma, lemon chicken, falafel, or mushroom shawarma), and then a wide selection of unlimited toppings. I was pleasantly surprised by the mushroom shawarma and the lemon chicken was great! I tried the chicken shawarma my boyfriend got and that was tasty too. They have so many types of hummus and toppings to choose from so you can really customize your order however you want. I will say the portions are LARGE, I think I would've been content sharing one bowl with someone else and had trouble finishing my portion alone. It's a great value for the price!! Bowls cost a little over $10 and they could easily be charging more for the quantity of food they give you. The bowl comes with a pita on the side (no extra charge). They also have a selection of lemonades (regular, strawberry, pomegranate, ginger turmeric). I enjoyed the strawberry lemonade, very refreshing. Also their bathroom is very clean! Definitely recommend trying this place out

10/10 so delicious, fresh, and fast! It was such a nice change up from the usual pizza and fries. They had excellent service and the portions were gigantic! I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area!

Me and my family were looking to try something new and came across this place in Long Branch. The atmosphere was so pleasant, the staff was friendly and the food was fresh. As a vegetarian, I always find it difficult to try new places and was little hesitant but after trying their food, there was no looking back. There were plenty of options to make everyone happy. We enjoyed the food so much that we have been there twice and are looking forward for our next visit. Loved every bite and highly recommend the place!

Very tasty and filling food, especially near the beach where it's usually burger and fries for days! I got a little overly ambitious with unlimited toppings in my "Build Your Own Pita" but I really appreciated how they didn't skimp on any of my ingredients. I got the roasted veggies as my base and wish I'd chosen that or the fried eggplant because the portion was huge and made my wrap very oily. I was very happy with the variety of colorful veggies though and I do recommend the chickpeas addition-flavorful and satisfying. All in all, good value for a filling, fresh meal!

Ok since my discovery of this place at the beginning of the beach season - I've been here every time I'm at Long Branch beach. While I don't live in the state it's only about an hour and a half drive for me so I try to go quite a bit. Not only is this place a great find it's been consistently good! My first experience here I got the wrap and can I just say it was a MONSTER sized wrap! Good thing it was chock full of great heathy food. Then my second visit I discovered the bowl!! Been getting that one ever since. So what exactly is hummus republic you may be asking if you've never been? Conceptually it's like a Chipotle where you order and choose your ingredients to make up your bowl/or wrap. The best part is there's so many options to choose from and the bad is that there's so many to choose from. How does one not decide to pick everything? It all looks really good and for the most part all fairly good or you! Fairly bc I think if you add the dressing that takes away from the healthiness factor and of course if you load up your bowl there's that. I know my eyes are always bigger than my stomach too! I know I'm going on endlessly about this place but it's really tasty and not to be missed! Here's the deal ... you can choose 3 scoops of different variations of hummus, veggies, proteins and the toppings! Can I just say toppings - go for the seasoned fried chickpeas (ok yes fried not so healthy). Kale w/pomegranate- yum!!! Ok I'll stop talking and just shared the pics and as always get there for your own gratification! Totally worth it!

I got a pita bread here. Falafel was made fresh. All the humus spreads were very flavorful. Service was good and staff was very friendly and helpful. It's located right near the Long Beach beach.

This time we tried the fava dish, lentil salad, rice pudding, sausage appetizer and falafel. Surprised and delighted with how light and crispy the falafel was! Hummus was also very creamy and delicious. The evening was rainy and cold so we were the only customers making it feel very cozy. The owner and chef was accommodating and shared memories of growing up in Egypt. We enjoyed our time very much. Food is a step above typical Mediterranean. p.s. updated review to add pictures from our first visit. We went to Simply Greek a couple times prior and loved the freshness of the food, the decor and the Owner and staff. On 12-13-25 we had the party and had 38 people attend The owner (Theo) really did such a great job in taking care of everything. The food was a 5 plus !!! Everything was made fresh - from the hummus and pita, Calamari, zucchini chips, Greek Salad (appetizers) to the entrees - Grilled Salmon, Chicken Souvlaki, , Grilled Lamb Chops and the Gyro platter. At least 20 people (or more) raved about the food. (If you are thinking about planning a party, you really should consider this great restaurant) The deserts and coffee (including the Greek Coffee) was a delicious ending to the meal. The staff, including Faith (the head waitress) was extremely friendly and attentive. We couldn't ask for better service !!! If you're not familiar with Pier Village, it is located on the beach in Long Branch. The area is beautiful as your guests can browse the many stores if they get there early or want to stay a little longer. The food was very good. The Greek paella was delicious and the portions huge. The Octopus was a bit tough. So I came here again for lunch last week (5/25), and I ordered the fried calamari the Spanikopita and the grilled octopus with mashed fava. The mashed fava was delicious and has become my new obsession. However, I disappointed with the rest of my lunch. The octopus was tough and one small portion had a bitter taste slightly like vinegar. It could've been that it was charred on the grill And so it tasted a bit bitter. I still ate it trying to find a piece that maybe would have tasted better and tender and then that brought back a recollection of the last time that I was here that my friend and I felt the octopus was a bit tough. Most likely overcooked. The fried calamari did not have flavor. At $21 for the appetizer, I expected better. I have a hard time trying to find good calamari and I think I've been to maybe two places that actually seasoned the breading and the calamari was delicious. Not here. It also was not served with lemon. I've gone between giving them 3 or 4 stars but decided on four since I can't give 3.5. I'm basing my rating on the cleanliness of the place, the space, the service, as the young lady who was my waitress was an absolute doll, and the fava, paella, lamb kebabs and huge portions. Would I go here again, yes, I would, but I will try other dishes. I will not be ordering the calamari here or anywhere else again nor will I be ordering the octopus here again. Note: for lunch, I spent $55.45 for the 3 items, not including tip.

We asked to speak with the manager who indicated that she didn't even know that this 'Special' was still on their website. At that point (and in good faith), she should have offered us something as compensation! When told that they do not carry a common beverage-BLUE MOON, the waitress suggested giving me a similar beer and offered a 'taste test'. I could not tell if I liked the sample cause the shot glass had SO LITTLE beer in it-offering me NO TASTE at all. We also ordered chips, plantains, and salsa as an appetizer. For the cost of $14.00, I assumed it would contain enough chips for three people and might even be an unlimited supply. There were approx 15 chips on the plate and 6 plantains-which were tasteless. But think about it!? 15 taco chips for three people to the tune of $14.00?! They should be embarrassed! By 7:30, this restaurant was almost empty. We have been there several times over the years, but this place has deteriorated, in many ways, and we will no longer patronize this establishment!
