While I've only had great experiences at this drive-thru as a customer, I wanted to review Human Bean's applicant process. The Las Tablas store's management was wonderful, reaching out to me shortly after my application, and the interview felt warm and professional. I couldn't wait to work alongside the two individuals with whom I'd spoken. I was told I should expect to hear from their owner/off-site-management after a *month*. After two, I reached out via email. This was ignored as well. I applied to this location specifically because I lost the use of my vehicle and needed work within cycling distance of my home. Being led on this way after a great interview was cruel, and made me feel disposable to not even receive word back during a time of need. This is an inexcusable way to treat your prospective staff. I've visited this location a few times and overall it's been a great experience. The baristas are upbeat, welcoming, and help with navigating the menu. They usually get my bright energy drink orders perfect and toast the bagel sandwiches to perfection but there was a bit of a fluke this past weekend where my order was completely wrong. I noticed there were a few baristas on shift around 7:30/8AM and the line was building up so I'm not sure if this past Saturday was a training day or an off day. I was surprised to find this hidden gem right off the freeway. I love this coffee, I first found Human Bean in Atascadero, and every time I get a chance I'll stop by and grab a coffee even if it is 90 degrees. As for this location in Templeton, we'll I love it. Weird name, great coffee. I made a first time stop after a TJ's run without super high expectations. After an Starbuck's fiasco earlier in the week I made a pact with myself to try and support as many local businesses as possible. Cute little drive thru. I got a basic black coffee. I love the human bean and am a frequent customer of the Templeton location and as I see it today it will continue that way for a long time. The team is wonderfuI! That said I do have a request. I feel that every time I get food from here the food is completely nuked, to the point I can't even touch it for 15 mins. Because of this the sandwiches and biscuits fall apart a lot. My favorite beverage is a matcha latte. I really like the human bean drive through. They are super friendly and beverages are good. My only reason for a 4 star rating is the matcha comes presweetened and is way too sweet. They should make it unsweetened so diabetics and those who don't do sugar could order a matcha latte and do their own thing with stevia or honey or whatever. Fun and fast drive thru coffee in Templeton! I was pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of my iced latte with blackberry flavor. I ordered it less sweet, because I don't like drinks to be overly sweet and syrupy, but the berry flavor was subtle and natural, and I think I could have ordered it regular and enjoyed it. Service for the four drinks we ordered from our car was fast, friendly, and accurate. They also put a chocolate covered espresso bean on top of each drink lid, if you want one- I thought that was a fun and unique touch, and it was tasty! It's located near a very cute Trader Joe's with a bridge next to it over a wooded area, so although it's a drive thru, the area right next to it is great for a stroll. Ok,true, second review for The Human Bean. I bought a pound of their coffee beans. $12 lb compared to $11 for 3 lbs of Costco beans. I could barely drink their coffee full strength but it's fantastic at my strength. It causes Absolutely no acid reflux. My only disappointment is that they're not actually local. I'll start with the bad and end with the good. The coffee itself was not amazing. Maybe it was a new barista or I ordered the wrong item. Nevertheless, neither of the two drinks I ordered were impressive. Tasted like coffee flavored milk, when it should be the other way around. The upshot? The service was fast, friendly, and courteous. It's unfortunate that it came to this that today when I was nearby and my wife came back with a little bean hot chocolate, she sat down next to me and before she took a sip, got a wif of cigarettes around the cup. I came back to the place with the cup and explained why I gave them an option of a new one made or a refund, and they chose to make a new one. The second one that was "newly" made was, as I was told, not completely full because it wasn't 8oz, but in a different cup. The second cup fell and was clearly less weighty than the first. Lost business and will continue to with others of reviews like this until this stops. And the previous time before this when I came back to get a frozen Java Chip drink from the human being here in templeton, which I believe was a 20 oz or so, I'm handed that drink and it looked like it was a white Oreo milkshake and not the Java Chip Frozen drink that is presented as being an option to order. We came for the first time over Labor Day weekend looking for a drive through so we didn't have to suffer in the heat. We ordered 2 iced lattes with an add shot and unfortunately they were horrible. Guy working was very young and seemed annoyed with us- could have been the heat. The lattes came out looking and tasting like pure white milk. I asked if he maybe forgot the espresso and he said nope that's just how they come. We asked for it to be remade and he said he could but it would be the exact same. We left and had to toss them. How to make a really bad cup of coffee and some how sell it for $4.00 My previous trips to another Human Bean had all been good so when I came across this one, I pulled straight in. The medium cup of coffee was the thinnest I have ever seen from a "real" coffee house. Seriously this coffee was as weak and watered down as the stuff they sell at the local Arco station. This franchise owner is cutting way back on the amount of beans that are being used and it really shows. It sure seems like the Human Bean parent company would want to know about this or has the entire company gone into major cutback mode??!! My advice-go elsewhere and if you like thin watered down coffee, go to a convenience store where you can probably get 4 cups for the price of one from Human Bean read more
