Walked in one afternoon and the man behind the counter was very quick to help me out. He was really nice and recommended me a juice for my vape that had salt nict. Unfortunately, I don't know if I received a bad batch or it was super old...but that juice was soooooo thick and not good. Juice kept spitting back at me and kept leaking whenever I hit my vape. I put in another brand of juice in once my cleared my tank of this nasty juice they gave me. My vape hit again perfectly with no juices spitting back in my back or leakage. I don't know if I'll be back since they lost my trust selling me some jank bottle. At least the guy was nice. read more

The Nova 2 Mesh 1.0 coils are always breaking before finishing the FIRST juice I put in it. It should be lasting 3-5 juice refills before being used up. Customer service is great, but the no return policy for completely common bad products infuriates me. This place looks really cool and impressive. Huge selection of art glass pieces. And a lot of stuff in the store that makes it a little overwhelming. When it comes down to what you really need, that's where they fall short. First time in, I needed a new bowl and I got a good one but it was pricey. I spent about $10 more than I wanted to but it was late and an emergency. Second time, I needed a bong because, again, an emergency and I don't know other shops here. What I got is completely unacceptable. Overpriced, again I spent at least $10 more than I wanted to and this bong is so awful. I can't even stand to smoke out of it. The quality of the smoke is what I would expect from a cheap bubbler. And the employee both times was on the condescending side. I really can't recommend this shop. read more

Came here for years, this past visit today I was sold a pipe that didn't have a hole in the bottom of the bowl and was instead next to the carb area making it inoperable. I suppose I should have looked at it harder but assumed this place did a quality check prior to putting in a showcase..my bad, but due to the lack of quality I will go to one of the many competitors in the area that check there product before selling it. read more

This place has a fantastic collection of glass, many of which are made by local artists. Got a sweet Hammer bubbler, which quickly became the nicest piece in my collection. $2 LPs on the westside? Sweet! Picked up 2 Kansas and Brubeck albums. They have a good selection of dvds. They also have oddities like novelty bandaids. And a collection of shirts with rude sayings or band names. Also a large selection of incense (which thankfully don't stink up the store). And a lot of mary jane type items. I had the option of ordering a high priced item that was on sale by manufacturer at the time for less then the self price at hot box but chose to keep my money local and buy from hot box and I am thrilled that I did! There was a manufacturer defect that caused the item to be unusable within 3 days of purchase. They quickly replace the broken part with only 1 trip back to the store. This unfortunate event turned to a great experience and i will continue to shop there and buy local as Im sure the same experience would have resulted in all savings lost in shipping plus my time and energy as well as waiting weeks for the entire warranty process to be completed by the manufacturer. read more

He took the time to tell me why the kind of metal the collector is made of matters, how to use it, and some other generally helpful info... He did not blow me off like he was too cool to help me (which has happened at EVERY other head shop I've been too). I love The Hot Box. They are a locally owned store that carry great products that are for the most part from local artists. Not just glass artists but they also have local art from painters, sculptors, etc from the Portland area. What really stands out about this place is that they are honest salespeople and if they don't have the product that you want they will suggest a different store that does. So you don't feel like they are jumping down your throat to just buy their products. They also have great warranties so that you can return their products as long as their not too "used" so to speak. read more
